    Default Vitamin K creams

Anyone tried vitamin K creams to reduce bruising after cosmetic procedures? I am going to do my lips in three weeks and want to not look deformed as soon as possible. This study says that pre-treatment doesn't do anything, but that using a cream in the initial days following mechanical injury does help: http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/12140470

Any recommendations for which product to use?

I read more about it, and according to the Paula's Choice site, products need to have be at least 1% vitamin K to be effective. Auriderm's Post Op Gel is 2%. But they point out that there are many other effective topical agents to consider:

"A smaller-scale study showed that topical application of a cream with at least 1% vitamin K (other strengths were used too) shortened the amount of time that skin is reddish-purple after a pulsed dye laser treatment. This indicated that when used in appropriate amounts, vitamin K exerts an anti-inflammatory effect on skin (Source: Dermatologic Surgery, December 1999, page 942). Again, it would have been more intriguing if this study examined other topical agents as a means to reduce post-laser discoloration. Since the study only included vitamin K, we don't know if a topical vitamin C product would have had similar benefits, not to mention green tea, alpha lipoic acid, superoxide dismutase, licorice extract, or curcumin (all well-documented topical anti-inflammatory agents). Almost no cosmetic companies are selling products with vitamin K near the amounts used in these studies. If you’re curious to try a topical product with more than a dusting of vitamin K, consider Donell Super Skin K-Derm Cream ($55 for 2.5 ounces; a gel version is also available but appears to contain less vitamin K than the Cream). Keep in mind that the studies did not look at vitamin K alone, but if you were curious if a good amount of vitamin K could make a difference, this product at least includes enough to prove that conjecture decidedly for yourself."

I am just going to start threads and respond to myself in them to illustrate how neurotic and deep-reaching my armchair research goes.

I remember for my first boob job they had me taking arnica in the weeks before my surgery to help with swelling and bruising. Looking back I was not very swollen after my boob job; you always hear that girls fall in love with their new boobs but then the swelling goes down and they and up being smaller so they get disappointed and that didn't happen with mine, mine didn't swell up making them look big. With my second boob job I did not do the arnica thing and I then experienced the swelling and the disappointment after it went down.

^The studies on arnica were inconclusive, but I think I am going to try it just in case. I have to be back at work and then around relatives within three days of my lip implant, so I want everything on my side. A lot of people have anecdotal evidence that it works, and some surgeons recommend it, so I figure it can't hurt!
