without. they look more graceful and lengthen the legs, and the straps are often made of plastic which break after about a month of use and then the shoes are trash
Either one. If you do get the ones without the ankle strap make sure they have the double foot band to help stay on your feet and be careful when doing pole tricks and inverts.

W/ straps. Better ankle support. You can also put the shoe thru the stirrup-style legwarmers & buckle the strap around them for additional stability. Also virtually guaranteed to not go airborne during energetic stage shows.

When I first started dancing I would only wear shoes with no ankle straps but I prefer ankle straps now.

With, the last thing I need is to lose a shoe mid - dance. Plus they feel more stable to walk in for me

I like the ones without the strap, but I like the double foot band for the strapless because they stick better. The straps tend to cut in to my feet no matter what I do to soften them up. HOWEVER if you are wearing stockings or thigh highs ALWAYS WEAR SHOES WITH STRAPS. The ones without straps stay because the plastic sticks to your skin. It will slide right off with nylons or thigh highs.
I prefer the ones with straps. I wear the 8 inch shoes, and I just prefer that extra support.
I I did however, wear the kinds without straps last night! I like the look of them better, but I was scared that my feet were going to slip out! And when I was brand new, I actually had a shoe fall off my foot while spinning on the pole!! That was embarrassing.... Lol
I hate shoes with straps, but I like to take my shoes off for dances so it's mostly because the straps are annoying to unbuckle and rebuckle before and after.
FWIW I wear the strapless shoes with thigh highs and have never had issues with them staying in. Maybe if you do acrobatic pole work they would though.

Pleasers are too tight on the toes for me, so I wear Ellies, but I prefer strapless, because they have less plastic that can cut into you, and I don't do any crazy fast pole tricks that would cause them to fly off.

I like the look of slip-on, but for dancing it's gotta be an ankle strap.

I prefer the look of strapless, but I can only wear them with straps. I need the ankle support and I do a lot of pole tricks. I've seen girls do amazing tricks with strapless heels but I'm too paranoid.
I love the look of the strapless ones but im too clumsy and my shoes would probably go flying off my feet even just walking around in them if I wore them without the strap lol. It would also be nice to get the wear them because my legs look short enough as it is the ankle strap does me no favors but oh well.

Straps. I am scared of falling out of shoes. None of my pleasers have broken.

Both. I wear strapless on the floor because I like taking them off during dances.
On stage, definitely with straps. I do sometimes practice with strapless ones and I haven't had one fly off, but it'd only have to happen once.

I like strapless because they look better, more slimming for the calves too
I like slip ons. Easier to come on and off for dances and going down stairs to the dressing room.
With ankle strap because of stage and pole work.
Team Slip-on. The only time I've found ankle straps to be more secure is if I'm wearing stockings. By that I mean, stockings and slip-ons are fine for working the floor but I personally can't do stage that way. Otherwise, slip-ons feel like they're vacuum-sealed on my feet. I have no problem doing inverts and such without an ankle strap.
If you have to get an ankle strap, don't get the clear plastic because they rip apart after a few months. The most flattering will be solid PVC in a color close to your skin tone.
Are you asking to see what's most popular? Or to figure out what you should get? If it's the latter, just get one of each to figure out what works best for your feet.
I need straps for stage shows. I have lost a shoe on stage before, my regular heels broke and I had to borrow from the house mom. I actually had a great night that night, all off one guy who said he didn't notice but I was still very embarrassed.
What is the double foot band thing others have been talking about?
Straps are a pain in the ass when you are busy with dances so when I am in a busy flow I won't secure the straps. Never had a problem with this just walking on the floor.

Without. I tried the ones with straps years ago and they always broke. I like the look and easy on/off better as well. Never had any problems with them coming off during pole work.
Strapless.
