Default Hair advice? Hair newb here

I wasn't sure if I should put this here or in Hustle Hut, but I figured it wasn't directly pertinent to hustling so I would put it here.

I've always been a "wash and go" kind of girl, and I've never really done all that much with my hair at work. I straightened it regularly when I first started out, but I realized I liked the way it looked better natural and I didn't want to heat damage my hair so I stopped. Ever since then, all I do is change where I part it and put a bit of hairspray on.

Lately, though, I've been thinking maybe I should do something with it - I've heard a number of girls say that hair makes quite a difference in their money at my current club. I've also realized that I feel more confident when I look very different at work - heavy makeup, fake lashes - and so maybe my hair should be different too.

    My main problems are:
    1. I do quite a bit of advanced pole work, so almost everything I've tried to do with my hair ends up falling out after a set or two unless I've heat-styled it.
    2. I don't want to do anything that could damage my hair, and I I really like being able to take everything off at the end of the night, so I really don't want to heat-style it.
    3. I don't know the first damn thing about hair.

Can anyone give me suggestions for something that would stay in through advanced pole work and not damage my hair over time? Maybe some kind of fairly simple updo? Do clip-in hair extensions do any damage to your real hair? I really don't know where to start here =/

Have you considered a wig? I was ALL abt advanced pole work too & had times when I thought abt going the wig route. There is sm good info on wigs in Body Business that can get you started.

I think a wig could be good, but I've had a lot of issues with wigs/hair extensions slipping or getting stuck between my arm and the pole and getting pulled off. Twice I've had hair extensions fall out onstage, not the highlight of my dancing career.

If you don't want to damage your hair I would try some heatless style, try putting rollers or flexibands in your hair after you wash it, or blow-dry your hair straight. Heatless curls last a lot longer than ones from a curling iron or hot rollers, since your hair dries that way it's unlikely to fall out after your set on stage. Blowdrying also keeps my hair straighter for longer than using a straightener, and I think it's a bit better for your hair (I don't know any ways to get straight hair without using heat) though I think you'll be OK using a straightener anyway, it's curls that tend to fall out quickly.

You could also try some half-up-half-down styles or just even put some a bit of the hair at the crown of your head into twists or braids and just use a ton of bobby pins and hairspray and it should stay. There's a million tutorials on youtube if you need help.

You don't HAVE to do anything with your hair. I've made good money on days when I threw it in a ponytail. If you feel like it looks good natural, let it be!

Why not check out the Body Business section, there's tons of hair advice, product info, etc. Also look on You Tube.
