When I got my lips done I wanted to have my upper lip increased to match the size of my lower lip. The woman described it as a "swedish lip" and said that she does not recommend that look for many faces because it can be too overpowering if you don't have stronger features (like strong cheek bones or a thicker jaw line). Generally the rule is the upper lip should be 2/3 the size of the lower lip or it can look strange.
However, apparently I have the proper proportion of face for a swedish lip and god knows I love it, my lower lip has always been really large and having that balance has done wonders for a more sultry pucker.

I didnt say full lips are exclusive to a specific race. Although its most common amongst black women. But Various ethnic female minorities tend to have big lips while its not a known trait on European women. The fact that Angelina Jolie's are obsessed over tells you that much
. Its easier to find a slew of thin lips on white/European women rather than something big, full and pouty, and the wave of injections has indeed increased I'd say in the last 5 years
Sidenote: Years ago when she was a big star, Paris Hilton once said she used to hate having big lips and it took years for her to accept them. I certainly don't see her feeling that way now. Its become trendy

^^Actresses in the 40s and 50s would over-line their lips all the time.
I love Kylie's lips, she used to have NONE and I think it made her look like she had a little old lady face. Having lips has completely changed her face for the better IMO. I just think it looks ridiculous when she still over-lines the shit out of them, she doesn't need to do that now that she actually has lips.

Funny! I got my big lips from the Czech side of my family.

^^Marilyn Monroe and Rita Hayworth are two specific examples I think of because I've seen lots of photos where it's very obvious. And of course who can forget the famous 'Joan Crawford Smear'

Btw you guys can see my restylane lips in my avatar pic.

^ Your lips look awesome.

Thanks guys I may try a new type of lip filler next month if they think they can recommend one to me that will last longer than restylane.
I wonder how the OP's initial asymmetry turned out.
Is there such thing as having too much injected? How did you guys find your doctors? I need one in the Santa Monica area (or Beverly Hills) if any of you know of a good one
oh god yes, I've seen over inflated lips that look like pringles

You can have too much injected but that doesn't happen by accident, it happens by telling a doctor to give you like 3 syringes. I've never seen 1 syringe, which is usually the maximum amount people get in a visit, make anyone's lips look huge(once the swelling goes down that is).

I won't pay over $400 for filler. And I will only go to reputable people for it. Beverly Hills doesn't always mean quality. I have a huge scar on my arm from a BH's doctor. Plus, a model/feature friend of mine had her boobs completely messed up from a "top" BH's doc. I've had the best experiences from ps from word of mouth. Then check out the doctors to make sure they're licensed, etc.
