    Default BYOB = more fees?

Forgive my ignorance, but I noticed a trend in the BYOB/juice bar clubs I have danced.

    They either:
    1. Take half of all dances done
    2. Take half of all dances and charge a house fee

I'm getting the impression that since they don't have liquor licenses they have to shake down the girls to make money.

Is this common across the country?

Thank god. Its probably all the clubs around me then. I went to one byob place recently. I found out a private room costs a customer $150 for half an hour and the dancer cut is $50!! Wow, unbelievable.

I work at a BYOB place in Chicago, and they take 15% plus $30 house and $40 DJ/housemom tip out, and they take a HUGE percentage of the VIP, but they charge a ridiculously high amount... $350 for half an hour, for example, so it all works out. Granted, it's the best work environment I've ever heard of- they feed us a free amazing dinner every night, provide free snacks and drinks, and supplies like hair spray, deodorant, face wash, mouth wash, toothpaste, etc. They're also really big on upholding rules and not allowing extras.

That hasn't really been the case for the BYOB clubs I have worked. Most were in NC and SC. I'm not sure how they handle the price of the alcohol the customers bring in but the places I have worked still gets their cut for the alcohol. Lol. In NC it's beer and wine only so you have to pay a fee per bottle of wine, a fee for your beer and you have to check your beer in also so when you order one of your own beers from the bar you still have to pay the bar for it too in most clubs. Some let yo keep your beer and let you rent a cooler too. Oh the ones in NC also mostly charge a higher door fee too so the nude clubs really have no reason to take more of the dancers money to make up for money they're certainly not missing out on.

^You know the club I've been working in probably does this too and I don't know about it (charging a fee for the alcohol you bring in). As far as I saw, I believe the cover is $20 per person and I think the same goes for the other clubs in the area.

This club I'm referring to is the upscale club of the area, which is laughable to me. I'll probably drive the extra miles to somewhere more worth my time. Hell I might even try some of the dives here if they don't try to take so much of my money.

Thanks guys, I'm glad to hear this isn't common so I'll keep club shopping. I think it's just common for my area.

It's a regional thing. Daydreams is BYOB and they still take the standard cuts. 20/15 etc. I miss it there.

I prefer no cuts and would rather pay a flat fee to work, but 20/15 sounds better than split down the middle.

Dude it's PA. This is the land of cuts. Let's go to Albuquerque where you keep all your money! (Home of the $5 and $10 dances!)

I like the flat fee thing too, my current club is like that. $40 flat week nights and $50 flat weekends. Its not a nude club and there's no VIP room but we're allowed to make our own prices for the LD rooms and we keep it all.
