Default Can anyone recommend wig brands?

I need to shave my head but clearly I still need to have long hair for work. Can anyone recommend a brand of wigs that is reasonably priced and reliable?

Do you want synthetic or 100% human hair?

I use www.misswigs.com www.lhboutique.com samsbeauty.com and a few others. The Misso Synn (SP) collection is nice at Miss Wigs, lhboutique has their own brand called LHB Signature(https://www.lhboutique.com/synthetic...ategory_page=1), and sams has an assortment super cheap. Most of these wigs are no more than $65. I recommend wearing a lace front that is made of swiss lace which looks like the hair is coming out of your scalp. Ex: My mother knows I have light sandy brown curly hair. She came up to my town to visit and I was wearing a black 18" lace front with a part of 3" and she asked if I died my hair O.o. No mom, it's a wig!

I also enjoy A-Plus/O-zone wigs shown bellow. It has about 3-4" of parting and the lace is so transparent that it melts into your skin. Most of them have secure straps and combs as well so your wig never falls off or slides back. If you want to take it even further, you can clue the lace but I don't personally. Then again I don't dance.

The Equal line is really good. I've been using them for years now. Most are heat safe.

I got my latest unit from wowafrican.com. It's Peruvian hair and cost around $180. When I want something synthetic that looks real, I go to fridaynighthair.com. The wigs on there are around $50 and can last up to a year if you take good care of them. As far as particular brands, stay away from Sensationnel. I also like New Born Free if I want something short. Freetress Equal has a wig named "Danity" that's to die for. Check out samsbeauty.com.

    http://www.sassysecret.com/Full-lace...nki-p/8017.htm <--- The wig I have.

I had this wig for a month AND OMG BARELY ANY SHEDDING. It's full lace so the hair styles are versatile...still looks brand new, I wear it straight sometimes, really really good with heat. I have a friend who had her wig for 2 years from this company and still looks new as ever. I am not sure what you would consider pricey but I think every dollar is worth it considering how long it lasts and how nice it remains... my previous wig costs a lot more and looked like SHIT in few weeks and was a complete rip off. If you're going to do wigs, I would get high quality that lasts long, that allows different styling, and doesn't look so...wiggish?

Here;s a link to a pic on my IG, view from top of my head. I love that the lace looks natural so it looks like it's growing out of my scalp. http://instagram.com/p/6vW7UPGzd1/

No matter what company you decide to go for- take care of the wig. I would get this stuff called Knot Sealer- this stuff you spray on the roots from inside of the wig to reduce shedding. I barely use it for this wig because not really needed but this is the one I have http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00...96EKGYHAG1HQX6

You can also use Scotch Gaurd on lace wigs to prevent shedding the same way OR use Got2be Freeze Spray on roots to prevent shedding.

AND I think the most important- get a detangler leave in MADE FOR WIGS AND WEAVES. This alone changed my wig life. I got mine from Sallys, it is a leave in conditioner/detangler.... the best ones in my opinion came from Sallys beauty supply.

I had alopecia too! I got a huge bald spot on the back of my head and almost shaved my whole head. I wore wigs for almost a year and a half and rocking the pixie cut for work now. Looking for a quality wig in case that happens again. Nice to see people listing brands instead of just suggesting ebay lol.

Oh I see! Equal is pretty cheap! But does cheapness not necessarily reflect a cheap quality?

OP if you're still in my neck of the woods go to Dollar Beauty Supply in Pottstown.

I love Noriko. They are amazing quality wigs for a moderate price. For longer looks, check out Noriko's Angelica, Avery, or Shilo.

For my more out there wigs (big va va voom curls for going out) I like West Bay's Bliss.

If you're looking for more of an investment wig and real human hair, check out sheitels. Some orthodox Jewish women cannot wear their hair bare in public, so instead, they wear very high end wigs over their own hair called sheitels. They are INCREDIBLE quality and insanely beautiful and natural. They are also ungodly expensive. But check out Lena's Sheitels--she offers consignment sheitels-many of them only wore a handful of times, for a fraction of the price (i.e. a $4,000 wig for $800). They are second to none for quality.

Just got a sumtheic wig from equal. Its a bit too thick I'll have to get it cut and styled but its so cute I'll do it. Its supposed to emulate a Dominican blowout
