    Default Waitressing to dancing

I'm currently a cocktail waitress at a gentlemans club. How easy is it to make the transition from waitress to dancer? Do I just tell management hey I wanna dance? Do the girls take kindly to that? Does club management usually frown upon that or take it with open arms?

Just ask mgmt if there is an opening for dancing. There usually is since there is such high turnover in this industry.

If you are going to juggle both dancing + waitressing at the same time … DO NOT do both on the same nite. Do not start your shift as a waitress, then take customers who want you to go do dances/VIP during a waitressing shift. That's double-dipping & sure to get you enemies among the actual dancers, since you would basically be getting all the benefits of stripper $$$ w/ little or none of the fees that dancers are required to fork over, & depending on the club, not even having to get fully naked while doing the same dances or leave paying customers for mandatory stage.

If you're going to do both at the same club, I would also say the whole 'Don't ever discuss your earnings or how your nite is going' applies twice-over. It doesn't take much to get sm girls' jealousy rolling, so I would be extra cognizant of keeping that sort of info to yourself.

If you're that worried abt ruffling feathers, consider dancing at one club & waitressing at another.

    .
This. I have done both simultaneously, but never on the same night. Same with bartending. I would dance on slow nights and wait tables/bartend on busier nights.

There's an old joke in the industry about how the difference between a waitress at a strip club and a stripper is 2 weeks, so don't worry, no one will find it unusual. Management probably won't even be surprised that you want to make the switch. IME most clubs are more than happy to have you move from waitressing to dancing but won't let you do both at once -- though I'm sure there are clubs out there that are fine with it.

I'm willing to bet your first few shifts will be very lucrative with all the club regulars wanting to try you out. I don't think most of the dancers will care -- if you've gotten friendly with some of them, perhaps they'll go out of their way to be nice to you or give you tips, but otherwise, you're just another dancer in the dressing room.

I never waitressed so I can't speak to how easy the transition is, but in the end, you're still doing sales and customer service, so it's not that different -- especially since waitresses in strip clubs tend to get very flirty with the patrons anyway.

Good luck and read through aaaaaall the info we have on here about getting started and hustling to help you out!

Keep waitressing and tell all the regulars that you are going to transition soon; You just need to get enough cash together for the shoes and outfits; wait for the tips to roll in

It's common for the switch. I just saw this happen the other night. Waitress ended up becoming a dancer, no one batted an eye.
