Default Color Oops or Olaplex? Back to blonde from red

Hey ladies. I've officially decided that I'm done with red because it's just destroying my hair. It only looks good for a couple weeks and then I look like a clown that escaped from the circus. My hair was actually in better shape when I was blonde, because my roots were already light and I only had to get them done once a month. Other than that I left my hair alone...Now the colors comes out so fast I have to dye it at least every 3 weeks. I don't know if I want to go platinum again...but maybe a champagne blonde or balayage blonde or something. Anyway,

I found a couple salons that offer olaplex treatment, but I'm wondering if I should go ahead and remove the red pigment before I go in? I heard color oops can get the red out and leave hair a light brown. Has anyone used it? Is it relatively gentle on your hair? My light brown/blonde roots are already coming through and it looks so bad with this dark, brassy red hair. I just want it gone! Any advice is appreciated.

I would go to the salon and have the pros do it as to not further damage your own hair. Also store bought stuff will interact badly with quality stuff (even though you wash it out it will be left in the cuticles of your hair as it needs to penetrate to work). I have heard nothing about amazing things for opalex.

My gf sells it for half what salons charge on ebay. I asked if you wanted the name to her store.

I have been considering going from dyed red to my natural dark blonde with lighter blonde balayage too. I think you should just go to the salon. I've used Color Oops before, and while it does remove dye, the removal can be very uneven and a complete pain in the ass. You also risk not fully removing the product/dye molecules, which can cause problems during the recoloring process.

She should and she should do a few olaplex tratments at home before. Adding it to color is worthless. most stylists wont bother. it makes processing time too long. I have several friends that own salons. they do the olaplex treatments and charge outragous amounts when you can do it at home and it's easy. I get it half of what the salon sells it and my gf sells it on her website. But once it's gone it's gone as they found out about her ebay shop and won't sell her more than one at a time now.

^I 100% agree, unless you know what you are doing then leave it to the pros-damaged hair isn't fun , and the sense of guilt from damaging your own would be horrible.

Which shade blonde are you going to go ?

^ I want to add...she should have it colored at the salon but do the olaplex treatments at home instead of them charging her 100 plus for one treatment and since her hair is severly damagaed. It would benefit her to buy the large one and do at least 3 treatments before she goes back...

I really like these shades of blonde and the darker roots look:

My thought on going from red to blonde is that the stylist could use a color remover to get the red out, tone the hair to a dark blonde that would match our natural shade decently, then put highlights throughout heavily. I'd eventually like to get to this shade of blonde with my natural dark blonde roots:

What kind of undertones does your skin have, wednesday? I am really pale with pink undertones, so I feel like I may need to use a little bit of fake tanner to not look washed out all the time.

(Also, I just realized we should go ahead and be besties since we're both going from fake red to our natural blonde, and our SW names are tuesday and wednesday. It has been decided; I shall ship you a bff necklace. Do you want to be FRI or END?)

tuesdaymarie I LOVE those looks too!!! That's definitely what I want to go for or something like this

My skin tone is very close to that girl's (pale with pink undertones) although I do tan a little in the summer. I think it looks pretty on her skin especially with the red lipstick.

And yes we should definitely be BFFs! lol! We can get friendship bracelets and have sleepovers where we paint each others nails and talk about boys. Can't wait!

Ooh, now I want to go lighter like that^. I'm thinking of changing salons again. Don't like going in the city, but the salons out here mostly suck & seem to have wonky hrs. I can do my outgrowth base color, I just need a good colorist for highlights only

I found a good salon that does olaplex and the hairdresser has worked on dancers/models so I hope he does a good job. His portfolio looks good. I think I might get extensions too..since I've had so much hair cut off trying to save it

Wow. Sorry for the thread jack but this is weird and what i posted above happened 7 years ago. Well I got a message from my ex. asking if i remember her( how could I forget) well he says" she dead, committed suicide'. I haven't really even thought about her until I saw the pic. really unnerving and bizarre since it was so long ago. Sorry. I wanted to post it since that pic reminded me...

Well I got it done today guys...may post a pic later. Honestly not sure how I feel about it. The guy did a great job. He took me all the way from red to light blonde and then put the darker blonde/light brown on the roots/balayage bit..............but I just don't know. I think I'd like more highlights closer to the top at least. It also gives the illusion that my hair is thinner than it really is. I always second guess things when I get a dramatic change though so we'll see...And no damage at all that I can tell since he used olaplex. Probably go back in a couple weeks so he can tone it and maybe add some more highlights (and maybe talk about getting extensions eeep)

Also it was kind of expensive for anyone looking to do this. About $400 for about 5 hours of work-removing color, bleaching. lightening/coloring with olaplex and sending me home with the products (shampoo, conditoner, spray in stuff) and the at home olaplex treatment.
