    Default Sony HDR CX-220 camcorder

Does anyone use this camcorder (Sony HDR CX-220) for streaming? It was listed in the streamate handbook as the best camera to use. I have both the c290 logitech and the Logitech BCC950 conference cam...but I don't like the picture quality in either one.

So.. If you use the SONY HDR CX-220 what is your opinion of the picture quality?

    Thanks in advance!

What is your lighting set up that can also effect your video quality it is not always about the camera.

I second that. Lighting can make a HUGE difference! I use these softboxes : http://www.amazon.com/dp/B00E4YS2XU/...HD3U6QI6&psc=1

The Logitech c920 is pretty damn good quality and if you have proper lighting and the settings fixed for the cam on the computer it should be more than sufficient for streaming.

I used the sony cx190 for a while years ago - the 220 was the upgrade to that camcorder. I despised the quality of it and filmed with my logitech c920 instead. It was very choppy and the audio was not great. Tbh I'm surprised SM recommends it. I wouldn't recommend it. Here's some info on it:

I'd recommend investing in lighting and saving your money for a high quality camcorder if you decide to go that route.

I use the same lights and love them. Do you prefer to use them with or without the white covers?

I don't like the quality of webcams either I think its the lens that Logitech uses that bothers me, I also don't like having to zoom with the mouse I like having a remote. I checked out a few videos on Youtube of the Sony, the quality seems good but for the price ($799 new, $135-$244 used) I feel there's better camcorders. I'd rather use the c920 than this camcorder.

Although SM recommends this camcorder you don't have to use this particular one you can use any camcorder you want, you can even use a Dslr camera or surveillance camera. I think you could get a camcorder with better quality with in the same price range with more accessories like a remote. This camera doesn't come with a remote or a powder cord, it only comes with a usb charger which I don't think is good if you're going to use it as a webcam. Imo I'd look at other camcorders/cameras.

Also Hyori mentioned the Hovercam 3po($270 on BHphoto) in the SM thread, which appears to give way better quality than the Logitech c920 or Sony cx-220.
