I'll do some dancing, smile, catch eye contact, and then if they haven't put money up midway through the first song, I assume they don't know the rules and go over, calm and smooth but not necessarily "sexy", and let them know the rules.
If they don't tip after that, I'm dancing for myself. I'll practice tricks, stretch out, etc.
I usually can't "koala", we have an insanely tall pole and it's thick and has never been touched with alcohol (although it has with lotion), so climbing above 6 ft is more effort than it's worth.

There's a girl at my club who gets kinda bitchy at non-tippers, and doesn't always remember to un-prickle herself, so I usually make some money off them by being sympathetic. "I know, it's just, we don't get paid to be here. we're up here doing our best, and it's hard when that isn't appreciated" *big smile* *cute hair flip*
