Question Virtual Sex Work / Red Light Center?

    Hi there folks.

I was browsing google, and I came across a website called 'Virtual Sex Work', which seems to be a recruitment website for a "Virtual Game" similar to Second Life called "Red Light Center".

I was wondering if any of your lovely ladies have came across this site and have any experiences with it? I did some searches on stripperweb and google, but most of the posts about this website / company are from 2007 - 2012 and not really recent.

It looks like an interesting concept. I'm not sure what kind of traffic it gets....their forum website doesn't seem to have a lot of frequent, regular posts by it's users.

    Thanks!
    Ruby

    Ruby,

Actually, you are better off with Second Life or IMVU. However, Second Life is the best when it comes to pay and freedom. Meanwhile, Red Light Center takes awhile to load up and customers can be cheap. If you are a cam model, then make sure you charge about L5000 and up while camming. In Second Life, there are tons of girls who charge too low and do not make tons of money. If you charge L350 to 4500 for text and 2500 to 250,000 lindens for voice, then make sure your camming is L5000 for those interesting customers.

    Thanks for the reply!

I once tried out Second Life on my laptop, just to check it out for fun, but I found it sort of confusing. It didn't run very well on my laptop with the newer avatar models, they appeared like....naked or were missing limbs, clothing, textures etc haha. I didn't know second life had cam girls on there, but i'v heard of IMVU having more 'adult' features in the game.

I guess both games allow their respective currencies to be converted to real money to be cashed out to something like Payoneer or Paxum, etc?

    Thanks!

To echo what Dona said, SL is definitely better than RLC. On Red Light Center you have to pay a monthly subscription to do anything adult there. At least that's how it was when I was there many years ago. Second Life has much more freedom, more people, and you don't have to buy a premium account to make money there. The learning curve is way steeper there though.

And yes both games allow their currencies to be cashed out for real money

I was on it years ago, and it seemed like a very broken "token" value system and a lot of hobbyists competing with you for pennies...and somehow at the end of my experience I got stuck in a maze walking in circles so I never logged in again

LOL sounds about right, for both RLC and SL.

Ruby: The thing with SL or any virtual world is that you have to invest a lot of time (and sometimes money, since long time users will be able to spot freebie items from a mile away) for very little return. If you're already a gamer and enjoy video games, MMO's, etc, then my advice is to start playing it as a hobby or in your spare time. Get to know it, get a feel for the culture, the unspoken rules, the styles, the jobs you can have there. Then if you still enjoy it after a while and are getting the hang of it, then start making money. If you go in there with the expectation that it's like a virtual cam site and you can just log in, wave your sexy avatar in front of some horny dudes and make money right away, then you're gonna have a bad time.

I first joined Second Life as a hobby. It later turned into a job, but I wasn't making very good money. I then discovered camming through an evil studio recruiter who was working as "security" at a voice escort club I was working at. Then after camming a while, I decided to try SL again from a different angle and guess what? I still didn't make much lol. I'm not saying it can't be done, but you'll have a much better chance if you know someone in-world there who can help guide you and make the learning curve more manageable. I used to help people from here in-world but I've had to put SL down for a while because I tend to get sucked in and it takes over my life. It can be very addicting!

SL is just like any other form of finding indy clients. If the right guy finds you and likes you, he may spend a bunch. But there are no guarantees there. It's not a cam site. Unless you want to invest a serious amount of time into learning the world, like others have said above, it's probably more hassle than it's worth. There isn't an endless stream of guys running around desperate and ready to throw out cash like on cam sites. If anything I'd look at SL as more of a place to advertise, or else spend a bunch of your free time getting to know guys and maybe finding a few regulars who fall in love with you. There are too many guys pretending to be girls and a lot of the dudes are just fine with jerking off together for free staring at the hot lady avatar some dude made lol. IT'S COMPLICATED. ;p

    A special note about IMVU:

IMVU can be more complex than Second Life and some of the club owners are downright bitchy. However, you can get the hang of it after a few weeks.By the way, you need to submit a signed w-9 and your paypal account if you would like to become a creator or cash out your money in IMVU. In addition, IMVU needs your real address in order to get paid. However, I stay to Second Life because I can make the most money there. Personally, I would use Second Life for voice escorting, text escorting, and virtual sugar baby/daddy relationships only. If you choose to cam, please set your rates high as well.
