Hi Everyone
I made an appointment to view an apartment last Friday. I called the leasing office the day I made the appointment and they told me it was an ideal time to come by and fill out an application because the application fees would be waived for that week. Excellent. I view the apartment and it's just as pretty as the pictures so I decided to fill out the application. Mid way through filling out the application the leasing lady tells me she needs a $200 check or money order for them to review my application and hold the apartment I wanted. I thought I heard her say that to the people before me but I thought they might have had really messed up credit or something. The $200 is refundable if I don't get the apartment but I was kind of irked they conveniently told me about the $200 once I was at the office. I want the apartment so I said okay and went straight to nearest post office and got her a money order for $200. The leasing lady tells me she will e-mail or call to let me know the decision by Monday.....
Monday came and I still hadn't heard anything from her and it was past 4:30. I called her and she tells me doesn't know yet but will call me tomorrow with an answer. Okay. Not a problem. Yesterday rolls around it was past noon and I still hadn't heard from the leasing office. I call to ask if I didn't get approved or there was a problem. She says I meet the required income and credit. Everything looks very promising she tells me. She just needs to call my land lord for a reference. Okay. I have a good history with my land lord and he is easy to reach. I also tell her I want to know if I was approved ASAP because I wanted to come down Friday to tie up the paper work, pay the rent and any misc. fees so everything would be paid up early. She tells me that is great and she will get back to me sometime tomorrow. Okay.......
It's now almost 4 and I still haven't heard anything back. I'm perplexed to why this woman just wouldn't tell me the application process is taking longer than expected or at least some kind of professional excuse. If she didn't want me as a tenant wouldn't it just be easier for her to tell me I wasn't approved??? I've been approved for apartments that were astronomical in price compared to this one. I've never dealt with a leasing office that displayed this kind of cockamamie and unprofessional behavior
The only reason I'm tolerating this is because the apartment is really ideal for my life and needs. If that wasn't the case I would tell this woman to take a flying leap and go pick up my money. I've been looking at other places that could be suitable but this apartment like I said is most ideal.
Have any of you ever had experiences like this or have any idea why this woman is dodging me instead of giving me a straight answer? Thanks for letting me vent.
