Default fill out application, no audition?

ok so I called one of the local clubs last night and asked if they were hiring dancers, asked if I would have to audition and the lady said "no, you just fill out an application and they'll tell you if you can work the same night". I was like ok, I'll drop by saturday evening. she took my basic info and said there's no dress code. does this maybe mean they'll just check me out in my streets clothes? does it usually go that way at clubs? sounds easy but I can't be sure if that's how it'll work.

Usually one of two things will happen if they like what they see when you come in.

    1) after completing any necessary forms, they will have you change into a work outfit & dance on main stage or a side stage for 1-2 songs to see how you move, how you interact w/ whoever is at your tip rail, etc.

    2) they will just have you fill out the paperwork in the office & check you out in street clothes. You may just have to pull your shirt up & do a 360* turn, or they may tell you to strip down to your undies. Again, this is just to see what you look like, any scars, ink, stretch marks, etc.

You may get the chance to work that nite, or they may say 'OK you're hired, come back X nite for your first shift'

No dress code? Sounds like a dive. Have you actually been inside the club to see what kind of outfits the girls tend to wear? All of that sort of thing will vary by club.

I started last week at a club that hired me this way. I went in first as a customer to check it out, then went back two days later in my street clothes (I did my hair and makeup like I would for dancing) and street heels with a bag ready to audition. They looked at me, asked me a few questions, photocopied my ID, had me fill out one form, and told me I could start right then if I was ready. I came back the next day and started working. No audition, nothing. And I hadn't danced in over a decade. (I lied and said it had been a "couple years.") There is no dress code for dancers here - we can wear what we want. It's really not a dive, at least by the standards I know.

I've only worked at one club that had an actual audition process, so that could just be the norm in your area. A lot varies by club in this industry, so I wouldn't be too concerned about not having to actually audition. In the other clubs I've worked at, I've shown up and the manager has simply looked at my in my street clothes and decided if I'm hired or not. After that, they usually photocopy my ID and I sign a contract/form stating that I know the local bylaws/rules, am responsible for paying my own taxes, etc.

As for no dress code... It doesn't necessarily mean it's not a dive. None of the clubs in my city have dress codes, though most don't allow g-strings on the floor, and they're certainly not all dives. Again, depends on the club/area. Bring a couple of different things so you can dress without looking too out of place depending on the style at the club -- say a bra and panty set and a dress.

I've been hired at a couple clubs like this, without auditioning. Some treat your first shift as a kind of audition. I always dress up really cute in a little dress and heels/wedges and have my hair, make up, nails done. I wouldn't go in wearing sweatpants and a hoodie even if it's a dive. I would also bring some stuff to change into anyway or at least wear a pretty bra and panty set under your clothes, in case they do decide they want to see you onstage or even have you work that night.

The club i work at does this, and ive noticed a lot around the Houston area does this as well. You just fill out an app, and as long as your back ground check comes up okay you can start working that day/night. The GM at my club hired me and he asked me to pull up my shirt, said okay and handed me the paper work. I started that night.

I don't think it's a dive since it's a gentlemen's club. I've gotten on their website and seen pictures of the interior and it actually looks like an upscale club. It's a two floor, very clean environment. I can't go in as a customer because I'm 18, it's topless so admission is 21. She said I could go into the lobby and if I get hired then I can access the club but otherwise I can't go in the club.
