    Default Retirement SUCKS!

I "quit" dancing (again. I think this is the gazillionth time I've retired) in July. It only lasted 2 months this time around. I'm still doing plenty of real estate business, but I find that I really enjoy dancing and feel like a part of me is missing if I go too long without a pair of Pleasers on my feet.

Oh, and cash in my pocket is really nice, too. Now I'm just saving/investing my real estate commissions while I use my dancing money for living expenses. I am so grateful for the stripping industry. This is where I belong.

I was laughing with the DJ last night at the club (I'm helping him buy a house) that when I closed my first deal, I made a joke at work about how I guess my real estate cherry was popped. The mortgage broker I was talking to gasped in surprise at the slightly PG-13 joke. I apologized immediately and mumbled something about growing up blue collar where we don't talk fancy.

Sheesh. The Vanilla World baffles me sometimes. This mortgage broker was a dude and probably not older than 35.

I know what you mean. I didn't retire but I am out of the club often because of bad feet or other injuries and I can't wait to go back. I belong in the dark.

I am going to steal that blue collar thing from you will come in handy

I know right. I always tell myself I can't wait to permanently end the stripping/dancing cause I hate living a double life but I love pole dancing and men giving me money without having to go all the way.

Plus I love the feel of twenties, fifties, and hundreds in my wallet and not having to rely on a long term deal with one man to give me money.

Idk maybe one day I'll do the long term thing with one generous man and the money from the club will no longer be necessary.

I'll prob open my own pole dance studio and or go-go club to satisfy my stripper urge.

Thanks, Captain Obvious! That wasn't the point of the post. The point is that I'm having a hard time transitioning into a new career. I guess I can act like a stick-in-the-mud for a while, but my naturally playful and slightly off-color nature takes over once I'm comfortable around someone.

He wasn't so offended that he refused to cash the check from my client.

Another realtor awesome!!! I didn't think it was such a bad joke but RE is all about appearances. I try not to speak about anything outside of RE. But my sex work persona does help me at times to exude confident body language when I need it. Its funny because they it is a similar hustle but one you need a stick up your ass and the other is all loosy Goosy fun and silliness.

This is an important thing to talk about! One of the reasons I am entirely unenthused about getting a straight job now that I can is that I really, truly, seriously do not want to deal with uptight killjoys all day. I like being able to sexually harass the bouncers and make fun of customers while I'm in the dressing room.

Honestly, I don't know how I would handle wearing pants and not making blowjob jokes at work.

    ITA.

Lol, now that I'm on the vanilla side of things I'll occasionally find myself wondering why anyone would ever want to retire from sex work.

I also can't help but feel like if I was a man, making a mildly off-color sex joke would not even be noticed. Because I'm a woman, I have to mind the social decorum that females in business are required to adhere to. It's like you have to put your brain into "I'm a lady" mode while also trying to kick ass and get ahead in the business world.

I think stripping is an *ideal* job to have as a supplement while working in another career (to help pay back student loans, as additional income for bills, or even just for play money). Having a straight job also frees up your attitude while dancing so you aren't giving off that desperate I-need-to-sell-dances-to-make-rent vibe, which helps make you more money and softens the blow of less profitable nights.

    Good for you!

THIS. 100%. Stripping is currently the only way I pay my bills since I've lost my day job... And went into one that can't pay me... And let me tell you, my attitude about dancing has completely changed! And bad nights suck, as opposed to having the attitude of, "oh that sucks, but at least I have a day job/guaranteed income." Lol

I am also a realtor (I'm 25 and have had my license for 3 years, but have only been full time with that for 1 year) and I can tell you, I've dealt with more bullshit in 1 year of real estate than 5 years of dancing. THIS close to quitting real estate and going back to dancing, if I can get hired at the nice club I want to work at.

The GREAT thing about real estate ladies, is you can make money off referrals. But you HAVE to have your license to do that.

So say for example I have a family member that wants to list their house but I don't want to mix family and business. I refer it to my colleague who is a listing specialist. Whatever she makes, I get 25% -- for doing NO WORK. Just referring her the business. You can refer business to agents anywhere in the world.

So say she nets $6,000 on the sale, I get $1,500 for giving her the business.

My goal is to dance full time and earn $3,000 a month in real estate referrals, that way on paper I stay "current" in the business, and when I'm too old and ugly to strip I can go back to real estate, when people take me more seriously.

** sorry for the threadjack just felt like it was relevant since there was a lot of talk about real estate as a job after or during stripping etc and wanted to share my relevant experience
