    Default Bleaching processed hair

So, I just dyed my hair to even out the color. Over summer, I bleached it with John Frieda lightening spray which worked amazingly. I have been trying to go back to my natural strawberry blonde color since March, when my hair was a medium brown (bleached from black). I haven't dyed my hair since March and have since cut a lot of it off, so I have a shoulder lenth bob now thats much healthier than it was. I had about 5-7 inches of my natural hair grown out until today, when I dyed over it with my natural color in order to even out my hair to match my hair extensions. Well, the dye I used turned out to be a shade off of my natural hair and extensions. It's more of a dishwater golden blonde instead of a caramel strawberry blonde now. I want to go back to the caramel color.

Would it be a good idea to bleach my hair and dye over it to match my extensions? I don't want to dye my extensions because I think the color is hideous.

Go to a salon and get a professional opinion. Some things you don't want to DIY.

I learned this the hard way. Cheap DIY lightening and dyes on hair that is already process just turns into a nightmare. Get the help of a professional, even if it's just a student doing the work at a school. It will save you many months of misery.

You can probably go to a sally's & just buy a good toner & tone it. I don't see why you would have to repeat the bleaching process, I've never had caramel strawberry blonde but I had a misty rose strawberry blonde colour & I got it using a good toner overtop of golden blonde hair.

Depends how 'processed' your hair is. If it's dry, thin or starting to break off, I would be extremely careful.

The most I would do DIY is tone it, and even then be conservative in how long you leave the toner on. Research what number/brand of toner (Wella is very good IME), use 20 vol. developer, and leave it on for the minimum amount of time. See how it turns out. Don't put any more chemicals on it for a month or so and then you can try again. Bleaching is very touchy and very easy to screw up and either fry your hair or end up with an ugly color.

I'd also like to point out that if you bleach your hair, it has to undergo a 2nd process to get it to hold color again, so no, that won't work. I dyed mine from platinum to red, and it was a 4 hour process bc the stylist had to do whatever-it-was-called- to get the hair to take color.

Your hair sounds really complicated. I think you should go to a salon and have them take care of it so you don't end up with some crazy, unnatural color, and straw texture. Try to find a salon that uses Olaplex. It will make your hair feel silky and new again, even if you do need more bleach.

Right.^ Be sure to ask for a Master Colorist, someone w/lots of experience/training. Good luck. I got my salon thru yelp, but also I had been buying products (Kerastace) from there, before I started getting my hair done there. They use Olaplex, & also use a non-amonia natural dye, since my scalp's sensitive.
