Default I have 2 weeks to find a place ... eek help :/

My roomie tells me that she can only extend my summer sublet for another 2 weeks then I have to leave bc there are too many people in the apt. I've been paying to stay in the living room for dirt cheap & while that's cool & all , I'm nervous as hell of ending up on the streets again. I have a plan of action of course but I don't have enough to really put down on a room plus deposit here. I'm thinking of relocating to the city if I can get hired up there this week after I have to move out of here in 2 weeks. I plan on searching CL until i'm blue in the face, then if nothing head to Vegas for cheaper lodging while i can work at busier clubs & save up to come back here with enough for a place. I don't know what else to do really :/ I'm happy out here where I am so moving out of state is not an option for me, as I have nowhere else to go with what little money saved I have. What should I do? Keep looking for a place or live in cheap motels for awhile? I'm trying to pick my life up after a recent breakup and it's very hard emotionally on me so please no harsh words <3 Thanks for reading~

P.s Does anyone know of any cheap motels or extended stays in SF I could look into staying in if i can't find a place where I'm at? If I'm working up there it would save me from having to drive long distances & on gas.

Goth, IMHO you are going to keep getting backed into corners if you continue trying to live in an area that you clearly cannot afford at this point in your life. I say this will all kindness, but sometimes realities are what they are. I know you love the California coastline, but it hasn't loved you back. There are plenty of other coastlines in the U.S., some of which might be much more manageable.

Have you thought about places like Charleston SC or even Daytona FL? Both have access to some nice beaches and warm weather in the winter and are much more affordable than CA, especially if you live just a little inland and drive to the beach. Both also have very cheap extended stay options if you want to try either of the area out. Additionally, both have strip clubs that (1) have a diversity of body types and are generally less competitive than coastline CA clubs; (2) cater to tourists and locals, including snowbirds who flock back down for fall and winter months; and (3) as far as I know, don't have licensing requirements (I'll let others confirm).

Now is also a good time to pull the trigger on a longer trip as gas is cheap in many areas. Shoot, in many of those drive through states it is down to $2 a gallon.

Just my fwiw and all the best as you figure this out.

    Dang girlie!

Well I dont know much about this area but as mentioned above those seem to be some reasonable points of view to consider.

Hope it works well for you whatever place you move to next!

California HAS always loved me, it's honestly the same price everywhere else as it is out here. I've lived in the areas you've mentioned & it's no different. As I stated in my post, moving out of state is not an option right now.

It's not easy, I know. Is Airbnb an option, or couchsurfing.com? Cheap motels, it seems are not really that. But sometimes there's not much of a choice. Good luck.

What about an area about 45 minutes out of Sanfran? A safe, residential area?

. <--- LA vs Daytona metro area

I have also lived in both Daytona & LA, & visited the SF area. I know this isn't what you want to hear, but there is no comparison. Daytona is a lot cheaper.

Using Daytona as an example since it was already brought up: if you were to relocate there, or anywhere else for that matter, there is the option of basically travel-dancing your way to your new location. Plenty of areas between CA & FL don't require permits. Just plan your route to hit the most travel-friendly areas, which you can research via SW.

I wouldn't take on Daytona lightly if you're a clean dancer, tho, unless you're a megahustler. Might be better to either commute or settle outright in Jacksonville instead.

And while those studies highlighted housing as the biggest difference, I will tell you that the savings on things like electricity and gas can add up too. My electric bill was cut in half when I moved from the northeast to FL and gas is about 20% cheaper here. There are people living on stretches between J'ville and Daytona paying $500 or less for apartments not far from the beach and shouldering electric bills that never go over $100 per month, A/C and heat included.

Goth, I'll stop going any further off track with my moving comments as I suspect that you have deep seated emotional reasons for wanting to stay there. Unfortunately the only viable answer may be that you hustle your ass off in the next two weeks in order to scrape up a deposit for a new place. I did a quick and dirty priceline search for the entire San Fran Bay area, starting from October 15th and going through the 30th, and found that even the shitholes in that region want $100 per night. Now you may be able to knock that down by finding a place far enough from the city and negotiating directly, but you'd still be talking about having a nut of several hundred per week just for a place to crash. Idk if things are going well enough for you in the clubs to handle that type of weekly nut AND try to save up for a place, but from what I've read about your recent struggles that might be a bit unrealistic.

Could you get a part time vanilla job to give you some stable income? It might not be much, but some baseline income might be helpful if things have been a mixed bag in the clubs.

Again, good luck with all of this.

This. I lived 10-15min from beach + club, paying in the $650 range for a decent 700sqft apt in a safe community. Water included, & utilities didn't top $150/mo, typically much less bc I used pretty conservatively. W/d $40/month. Granted this was abt 3.5yrs ago, but when I posted the above links I also did a little tooling-around on apt prices. While there has been a roughly $200 increase since then, it's still phenomenally cheaper than anything I found in the LA/SF area.

OP, you started a similar thread on this same subj quite sm time ago, & didn't like any of the advice given that contradicted your desire to remain in a high CoL area w/ no other income than whatever you could scrounge from crappy clubs. Your description of the clubs out there, not mine. But like it or not, you will remain stuck in this subsistence cycle unless you open yourself up to other options. Whether it's relocation, or taking up a pt or ft vanilla job to supplement your stripping income, smtg needs to give.

I'm gonna have to agree with Rick and Aniela. You've posted about this a few times and it's apparent that you aren't making enough $$ to live in Cali. I think most of SW has advised you to move. Agreed that if you insist on a beach, the east coast might be better, or even down in south Texas on the gulf, but it's plain that Cali is just too expensive. If you didn't want to live on a beach, there are tons of other options that are ¼ of the price and have decent clubs around.

If you want to keep scrounging around and living in people's living rooms and in motels, be my guest, but that can't be fun.

Since you sound pretty firm that you don't want to move I am not going to talk about it.However I think you need to figure out the situation fast.I think you should go to apply in a club as soon as tomorrow morning, work the same day if you get hired,if not just keep going to the clubs until there is no more to check out.I also agree with the people that advised you to get a day job.Its stable money as little as it might be.It can also help you find new roommates(I bet most of your day job colleagues will be in some shared housing situation).Good luck.I hope everything gets sorted out.

I tried leaving many times, but everywhere else is so horrible.

Also, I dick around online searching out apts/other rentals from time to time. Every1 seems to think CL is where it's at anymore, but from what I have seen, CL is generally comparable to or even more pricy than what can be found on sites like Apartments.com or Zillow.com. Even local Classifieds are sm times more affordable than what ppl want you to pay on CL in the exact same market.

I have noticed this pattern in pretty much every area I search -- mainly, all over FL (& I mean ALL OVER), the DMV area, parts of TX & a few other eastern & central US states.

It's kinda like booking a trip online, you gotta search Search SEARCH to get the best deal for the most reliable bundle.

Actually, GothBarbie, I must disagree with some of the people wanting you to move from San Francisco. However, San Francisco is one of the most expensive places on Earth. I would recommend you start selling clips and do phone sex between your dancing. Or you can get dress up and try to find you a sugar daddy in San Francisco? It is not as hard as people might think. However, I know a few places where you can stay at in SF for cheap. If anything, you can stay in South San Francisco or Daly City for even less money .Now, you can always stay in Taylor Hotel near union square. It is not a bad place for single ladies to stay at and there are tons of European tourists. You must pay 55.00 per week to stay there and a whole month is about 300 to 700 a month. However, I believe that you need some sort of passport or student card to stay there now. After getting your money save up, then you can rent a cheap one bedroom apartment near either Sea Cliff or Sunset District. Usually, it is either Russian or Chinese women owning these buildings and they want to fill these up as soon as possible. You can pm me for more details

Would you consider staying in a hostel? There are some that are listed here for $20 - $30 a night.

Why do you not want to move out of state? I think CA is one of the worst states for strippers being that its so expensive and the clubs aren't the best. I'm trying to move out of CA after visiting Texas a few times and its crazy how much cheaper it is and how much more money is in the clubs out here. You say you are happy out there but bouncing around without a stable place to stay must add some stress and unhappiness I think. I don't think you should go back to staying in motels or wherever you pay weekly. I think the best thing to do is work your ass off and use that money for deposit and first months rent in a one bedroom apartment somewhere else (like Texas!). All of the deposits I've seen out here are like $100 and there are 1 bedrooms for less than $1000 a month that are still in decent areas. Having a stable home is the most important thing and there are a lot of great cities outside of CA. Then later on in life when you have the money you can move back out by the beach but I agree with other posters that this cycle will never end if you continue couch surfing & staying in motels.

I've stayed often in hostels in that area.
The lighthouse in Pacifica is amazing, the green tortoise is right by all the clubs, and the city center hostel is really really clean and nicer than you'd think. They are all $30ish a night.
Just is case you get stuck and hadn't considered them.
Even when I traveled there for my day job, I'd often just stay in hostels and save the rest of the stipend to enjoy the city.
In the mission there is a weekly motel - Google it by that description and you can find it !

It's an expensive area for sure..,,

What about the travel idea we PMd about? Just as an FYI , I would visit those areas soon before the snow comes in if you are going ! I'd recommend going soon and leaving by mid to end of November unless you have a 4 by 4 or the patience to be trapped by snow for 2-3 days at a time.

I understand wanting to stay in CA, Goth. I will only live in CA or NY. I just can't live in other states. I've visited almost every state but 2 and they just don't fit my personality. But they are very expensive states. Many have given you great advice on here. Even if you don't want to take the advice now, keep it in mind for the future. In fact, I wish I liked Florida because Anielas advice about Daytona sounds amazing.

Well, if she is going to rely on hostels then she had better lock one down soon. I did a quick and dirty search the other day and a lot of them are already full for the last two weeks of October, including City Center and the Taylor Hotel. The Green Tortoise is offering female dorm beds for about $300 per week but only allows a max 10 night booking. Other hostels that came up on hostels.com had mixed availability, with many of them already booked up for certain nights in late October.

This is one of the big problems in trying to rely upon cheap hotels for a place to live, especially in expensive and popular travel destinations. You can quickly find the decent cheap options booked solid, leaving you with either no cheap options at all, which then requires you to pony up big money just for a place to sleep, or the worst of the worst cheap flop houses.

There's not a lot of suggestions I can make, cuz I've never lived like this, but it seems an older person with a room or guest house to rent would be safer, cheaper, and you wouldn't have to worry about being kicked out quickly? Sucks they only gave you two weeks notice, there's no way I could deal with this kind of stress on a daily basis.

UPDATE: Today I secured a small private office to live in temporarily until the other studio I'm getting on the 1st. I paid less than $200 for 2 weeks & I'm stoked! It's inside a massage therapy studio & there's no lease it's month to month. I knew I could do it
