Default Austin or Corpus Christi? And will I get hired?

I started back to dancing last month after a looooong hiatus. My first week or so went okay but since then it's been incredibly slow and frankly I'm not thrilled with a lot of things I've seen and heard about going on at this club. Plus it sits less than 10 miles from the Mexico border and the fact that I don't speak Spanish is a big problem. I think I might be the only person currently working there who isn't fluently bilingual and on one day shift I couldn't even try with any of the customers because they all spoke Spanish only.

So I was thinking of trying Austin or Corpus Christi. I have to stay living where I am now (near the Texas/Mexico border) for now at least because of my husband's job, but if I could make enough money to make it worthwhile, I could drive to either Austin or Corpus and stay for a few days a week to work, then come home. It's not ideal, but I am not making money at this club, and from what I've seen and heard it is the cleanest and best club in this area.

Anyone have recent info or insight on these cities? I've searched and read a lot, and it seems Austin would be better, but I wonder if I'd get hired. I'm in my late 30s but don't really look it (people regularly assume that my teenage daughter and I are sisters), I'm thin, have big fake boobs, no tattoos and no body piercings. I'm not a great stage dancer either. Will my age stop me being hired in Austin? Any club you might recommend? Any advice/info is appreciated. TIA!!

I haven't danced in Austin, but a lot of the girls at my club in Dallas travel there every so often for a thrill. It's definitely more of a younger party crowd there from the sounds of it. Apparently, according to dressing room legend, it's fairly easy to make money there, but the earning cap is considerably lower than at the Dallas club. It's a give and take situation, which is why they like to mix it up every so often and dance at both. You don't make as much money, but you also don't work nearly as hard for it, so it sounds like it evens out. They're also in their 30s for the most part. A couple are in their 40s, but don't really look it. They all recommended Palazio, and a couple suggested Perfect 10.

I decided to go ahead and try Corpus Christi first, because it's closer to home for me, and got hired for nights on the spot and started last night. I made almost as much money last night - a slow Tuesday - without even trying as I did on my best night at the club I had been working at before, and I had a much better feel about the place and the management. Didn't get asked for OTC once, no one asked for my number, I don't think anyone even tried to get my real name. And I didn't witness any extras going on. The customers were so much more respectful than where I was before and didn't expect a miniature lap dance every time they tipped a buck on stage. All the dances I gave were men approaching me and asking for dances - I was nervous on my first night and wasn't trying to hustle at all. I think I may still check out Austin this weekend but if things continue to go well here in Corpus I'll probably stick with this place.

I have to say, I was so worried that my age would work against me and get me limited to just day shift, if I got hired at all, so being hired on the spot for nights made me feel so much better.

I worked at The Palace. I've since moved to San Antonio, but I really liked The Palace in Corpus. The money was good, girls were cool, didn't see a lot of extras. I hated weekends though - too many dancers.

I've actually ended up moving to San Antonio, but I'm feeling a little burnt out at my current club - San Antonio is not a great place for dancers, but for various reasons it's where I ended up - so I may still try Austin. I'll let you know how it is if I do!

Does anyone know if clubs in Texas have slowed considerably due to the huge drop in oil prices?
