Tbh with most of your weight in your stomach you are going to have it tough. If you're tall you might be able to pull off a little more weight. Dives may hire you, but it will depend on the mood of the manager. I was overweight at 5' 150 llbs and a size 10. I had trouble getting hired even at shitholes.
If you really want to strip, try entering an amateur night and see how you like it. You may not want to be a stripper. If you hear unkind words on cam, you can block their asses. You can't tune them out at a strip club. You better have a very thick skin and low expectations.
I'm sorry to be the Debbie Downer but that was my experience as a chubby dancer. The strip club world is not as inclusive as camming. That's not to say that plus size dancers can't or don't make money. There's a few on here that are quite successful. But it is not going to be an easy battle, especially for someone who might be a n00b.
You will have to work twice as hard to make money. If you are a minority add another strike against you.
I've seen a few strip clubs host BBW specific events, most notably Sammee Matthews "Thick Sundays" in Vegas. However, I haven't heard anything out of them in awhile.
My advice to you is to carve your own niche by finding BBW specific events or enter an amateur night. If you really want to be a stripper, I recommend losing weight and hitting the gym. You don't have to be a size 2, but toning up will increase your chances at getting hired at a nice club exponentially.

    Agreed with tempest.

Also remember that part of the issue with being a BBW in a club is that customers are subjected to stigma when they choose a larger dancer for private time. Online, no one is watching them make that choice, so they can make it freely and pay for it without feeling judged. SCs are a different animal altogether.

There are also some logistical considerations that go into being larger. I'm thinking specifically about footwear, here. I'm a very athletic 5'7" ~140 lbs, and I can hardly balance on most stripper shoes, much less function in them over the course of a night...dancing on slippery stages, giving lap dances, etc. I wear a fool-proof pair that works for me, but I'm not sure they'd work for your size. There's also the fact that dancing is a very, very athletic job. Assuming you don't work out often, I'd be concerned that you could actually injure yourself over the course of a stripping shift. Tear a meniscus while giving a lap dance, pull a muscle while on stage, fall down and twist an ankle... Eek!

Finding a flattering outfit would also be difficult (for the SC environment, that is, I'm sure you have your camming shtick down pat!). If you had more of an hourglass figure, perhaps you could wear a waist cincher (that you wouldn't take off at all), and then just take your top and bottoms off while dancing. But you mentioned that most of your weight is in your stomach, so I doubt this would work for you.

I'm also sorry to be a debbie downer about this! Just my honest opinion.

I've worked with what I assume would be categorized as "BBW"strippers in Albuquerque but they had a "traditional" hourglass shape with ginormous tits. Their outfits and makeup were always flattering. Also they were almost always Caucasian or light skinned black girls. They also were seldom seen on stage and had very strict restrictions on when they could work. The bulk of their money came from VERY devoted regulars.
I don't know where you're located but another thing to consider is a lower tier urban club. At this point your options are very limited in mainstream Striperland.

Tempest has given some great advice in this thread.

The stripping world tends to skew pretty small- the girl (literally one in 4+ years) that I have worked with that I would call a BBW in a strip club would never be referred to as a BBW by anyone outside of the club. And tbh her money is VERY hit and miss. Occasionally she will get a customer who loves her, but most of her nights consist of being rejected by guys that will virtually immediately grab any other dancer. You're fighting an uphill battle in the club even if you do get hired somewhere.

Charlie is right- dancers with longevity in this industry treat themselves like athletes, because the job is very physically demanding. A lot of clubs around here have their private dance areas on upper floors, and even walking up and down stairs all night in those heels all night is something that would knock most civilians on their butt either immediately or in pain the next day. I can't imagine a girl twice my weight doing that for any length of time and not damaging knees etc.

i'm considered a very thick dancer, and i''m around a US size 10/12. many "plus size" girls bank, yes, but it depends on how thick you are, where you hold your weight, and the rest of your look. the thicker you are, the more traditional "barbie" you gotta be. think trisha paytas. you can also be super super thick as long as you have a relatively small waist and flat stomach compared to boobs/ass..plus a really, really pretty face and a great hustle and you can compete. at a size 17 and with most of your weight being in your stomach that's going to be a whole 'nother animal, sorry. even if you can get hired at a club, that's only half the battle..competing with the skinny traditional looking strippers and keeping your confidence up is going to be a constant battle. this is an extremely shallow industry with a VERY narrow view of what men should find attractive. i'd honestly stick to camming until you can lose some weight because stripping is TOTALLY different.

I'm considered a thicker girl in the club but outside I'm normal sized to everyone and I do ok for the most part bc I can talk to people & sell ice to an eskimo. However I experience the bs associated for being a larger girl on some nights but those are usually the guys that haven't spent money on anyone ALL night. I'm around 5'8" 170 lbs now & still dropping weight by the week. I'm not sure what area you're in but that can def be a factor. I hate my area for dancing, it's stupid. When I move out of my current apt next week, I'm getting a private room here & am gonna start camming I think. I have a VERY pretty face & def look younger than I am but around here it only goes so far in the club. I agree that having your look together & having a very pretty face can work wonders & being more Barbie can cut thru most of the BS. I just started flaunting my purple/lavender hair & made more money than I had before so who knows. Good luck!

Dang, you're the complete opposite of me. I barely gain any weight in my mid section; I'm mostly ass, thighs and tits. I've danced wearing a size 16, so I guess you can do it as well. Your best bet would be one of those very divey clubs. There's still money to be made in those places. Right now, I shrunk to a size 10 (my target size is six), though.

I was that weight when I was first dancing. In my case, I was mostly muscle so I looked lean. Are you also muscular?

I am larger and carry it in my stomach, ass, and thighs.
I started stripping at 18, and was thin.
I reinvented myself and created a unique style of belly dance and strip. I work for an agency and do private parties.
Point is....If there is a will, there is ALWAYS a way.
I NEVER listen to other people's limiting views, on what I can or can't do.
If I did I'd never even have started stripping, because everyone back then said I was too skinny and flat chested. Ha! I have the last laugh.

In the end, none of us can say whether or not you'll get hired. Hell, you might be a trailblazer for plus size strippers. My advice to any stripper, size 2 or 22 is expect nothing, hope for everything. Don't be afraid to think outside the box too.

I'm a size 4 and have felt too big in some clubs. Also, many studies show that the waist-to-hip ratio is one of the biggest parts of finding a female body attractive, so carrying weight in your stomach is a bad situation for a stripper. IMO, many men are afraid to be seen with "different looking" strippers in the club--especially younger men and those in groups. The more of a stereotypical stripper look you have, the more customers you will likely appeal to. (I would say a "stereotypical" stripper look is tan, thin/toned, brown to blonde hair, and large/full breasts.) Idk, it's like going to a new restaurant and not knowing what to order. I sometimes just get the special because that's what they're known for or whatever. Well, when most people thing of strip clubs, they think of skinny tan blonde women with big fake breasts. So they go in and get the most strippery stripper they see. This means that a huge number of "different" girls are immediately off the table--fair skinned girls, heavily tattooed girls, girls with unnatural hair color or really short hair, fat girls, really muscular girls, the list goes on. I think camming is a different game because customers are less likely to feel judged for whatever they're into, especially if it's not the stereotypical sex worker look. If it were me and I were doing well as a cam girl, I would stick to that, because some men in clubs just go there to tear pretty women down, and it's not worth opening yourself up to the bullshit and paying house fees to hear it if you'd just be stripping out of curiosity or for the experience. Tempest's suggestions of feature nights might be a different story though.

As a girl who started out as a "bigger" dancer--5'7, ~175 if I remember correctly, I can say from experience that a lot of the advice in this thread is accurate. I was the "barbie" type mentioned, the 20 year old with the nice face and solid hustle, and while I still made very comparable money to what I do now at ~145, the bs you will deal with with management is going to be the kicker. I STILL get shit from management about being "big". I gained 10lbs on purpose last winter because I was always cold (that happens when you lose almost a third of your body weight and live in the Great White North) and they have been UP MY ASS ever since. So even girls that are at perfectly healthy weights get shit in this industry sometimes--thick skin is neccessary no matter what you weigh! And I have the ginormous tits mentioned above too, as well as a decent amount of regulars.

The fact is that as a dancer you are a product like a dress in a store. There are tons of great dresses that look excellent when you try them on, and make you feel awesome, but just don't grab customer's attention on the rack and therefore don't sell well. It's called "hanger appeal" in the fashion industry. And the same concept applies to the strip club. It is not that the BBW is not sexy, it's that they deviate from the "norm". Same factors affect ethnic and alternative girls in their careers. What can we all say--the world is completely fucked and it's not right but we need to survive within it. I would stick with camming for now because you know it--but keep stripping as a long-term goal if you desire. I would suggest you take some time to prepare yourself physically for the job--one of the reasons I lost weight was because as another girl mentioned, wearing those heels all the time stresses your knees on anyone--espescially if you are heavier. Explore ways you can have a more healthy lifestyle for yourself--get into cooking good food and perhaps invest in a pole or take pole dancing classes as this is a great thing to help get in good shape--weight aside, it will build up the muscles neccessary to do the job so that you are not injured and you also wouldn't have as much pain as noob dancers with no experience with pole. Focus on getting yourself ready from an athletic standpoint--the weight is icing. This attitude helped me a lot, although the heaviest I ever danced was 190, I got up around 210 and was pushing a 16 at one point while on a break--and then lost about 75 lbs over 2 years. You can do it And if you want any more info on dancing as a plus sise girl or whatever feel free to drop me a pm!

There was another thread on here months ago about a group of BBW strippers who took the initiative and hosted their own private events. Also have you considered charging money for private (nonsexual) sessions?
I'm just hoping the OP kerps us updated.

It really depends on a lot of things. Your ethnicity, location, body type and how you carry your weight. You could be a 5'7 amazon who carries her weight in her ass and tits. You may be fine for all but top tier clubs. Then there was me, 5'0 size 10 who had it migrate to her stomach and arms. I was fucked for all but a handful of shitholes.
Every plus size dancer is different. Just because one gets hired doesn't mean you will, and just because one gets rejected doesn't mean you will either.
The best advice I can give for anyone is to start a healthy lifestyle change. Start cleaning up your diet and exercising. Grow a thick skin because the strip club world is not kind to anyone, let alone plus size dancers. Be prepared to deal with rejection because it will happen. A lot. Realize that results take time but if you keepat it you'll get there. Oh hell, I don't know what more I can say except good luck.

I want to chime in as a person who used to be a BBW stripper. I was 5'0" and about 145-150 while working. I am white (but tan) and at the time I had beautiful long, straight dirty blonde hair. I always did my makeup immaculately. I did carry a lot of weight in my tummy area. I worked at a low tier club in Philadelphia with a fairly lax management. I made between 350-600 every night. It's not easy to get hired, that's for sure. I am actually trying to lose weight for that very reason (currently at about 130 and aiming for between 115-125... I have an athletic/muscular build with large breasts.) But if you can find a place that will give you a chance, there are custies who LOVE thick/chubby/ fat dancers and will worship you. But I agree with what everyone above is saying that it is an easier to have thin and white privilege when trying to work at upscale strip clubs.

I have been dancing 23 years. I have been fat, skinny, skeleton like, and pregnant. I would never have the balls to walk in a new club at my heaviest and audition, but after being at a club awhile and I get fat, my money is steady. I keep my regulars and I learn which men like thick girls. Also day shift the older men liked me. If you find a non corporate club (no dollhouse, scores, cheeerleaders, etc) in a little neighborhood, start out on day shift. Wear corsets or corset like tops that hold in your stomach and you can just pop your boobs out of the top. Find flattering G strings (They ARE out there). You can do it. But you will have to start day shift or possibly an urban/black club? Lose a little weight, build a clientele and gradually stay later into the night. What I found as a heavy girl is the managers don't want yu there at night, but if you are getting dances and vips they are more than willing to let you stay at night.

Forgot to mention, my heaviest I was 165lbs at 5"2". I wore probably a size 14 in jeans. I still got vip's and a decent amount of dances working midshift 3-10pm.

I am around 160lbs and a size 8-10 in clothing. I am usually around 140lbs but over the past year I had a surgery on my knee leaving me unable to exercise, alongside my lack of motivation.

I danced at 140, 150 and 165lbs, I never noticed any change in my money up until now.

I work in Australia so most dancers are really petite, athletic and toned. Almost every club I work in I'm the only girl who is 'curvy'. Lucky for me I only have a little tummy that I can hide and I wear black stockings to hide the cellulite on my thighs. Dressing for your body shape is super important!

Personally I think you can kill it with curves, you've just got to find the right club!

For example my old club I was making great money at my thickest! Then when they closed I was forced to find a new club, I worked 3 shifts at the new club and they fired me via a text "You need to loose weight."

I totally agree that hitting the gym and eating healthier is the best for any dancer. Focus on your best features, if you have a big ass, do lots of legs/ass work to tone etc.
Diet is most important!! When I started eating really bad food I noticed I lost muscle tone and gained cellulite. So first step is change your diet choices and make it into a lifestyle. Ain't no point in being irrational and saying HEY I'm only gonna eat organic healthy vegan food, don't throw yourself in the deep end!

Raidate confidence and take care of your body x

There's a plus-size girl (probably around size 12-14 in Australian sizes) working at an upscale club in my area. It works for her because she's hourglass-shaped with a big butt and has a burlesque look to her. Also, she's been working there for over a year and I doubt she'd stick around if she wasn't making any money.

Being fat is worse than being 40. Every 10 lbs over the BMI of 24 is like adding 5 years to your sex appeal. So if your BMI is 30, then thats like being 180 lbs at 5'6, thats like "LOOKING" 50-some years old at 20 years old. Sure you'll get a few tips but you are last in mind. Without a beautiful face, you might as well go home. A 50 year old who looks 35 with a slim body will make more money.

I hate to be mean but this based on my reality.

Stripping is the least friendly facet of the sex industry for larger bodies- part of this is because of the public aspect. A guy might LOVE plus size women but choosing a plus size dancer in front of other men (especially if he is in a group) has an embarrassment factor. Calling a plus sized escort or watching a camgirl doesn't have the same problem.

Honestly to be plus sized and make it you have to be otherwise perfect to get into most clubs. A skinny girl with nasty teeth or whatever will get hired at way more places than even the most put together bigger girl. You'd be better off trying another area of the industry and losing weight if stripping is your goal.

Side note- idk if assuming girls are making money because they stick around really works. I've worked with lots of girls who are either there for the drinks/partying, or consistently make <$200 but it's enough for them to stay.
