Default What is REALLY the ideal body weight to be at to start.

So I'm still trying to loose a few more pounds before getting the courage and confidence to even audition. Had a child five years ago but that little baby pouch is still there. I have attached a few photos and I want HONEST opinions. asian, 5'4" and roughly 147-150ish pounds. I noticed I lost a little weight already and feel good as I am now but I know I should loose a bit more before auditioning.

It depends on the type of club and region I believe. It doesn't hurt that you're Asian, either since we're a commodity in this industry. I'm a mixed Asian dancer in PNW and I can get hired at most clubs in WA and some great dives in Pdx. My average weekly earnings of 3-4 shift in Seattle is about anywhere from 1000 (slow or lazy) and 1500 on average. Ive also had 4 kids, am fit and athletic build, round butt, small boobs and toned abs. I work out and do pole OTC though in addition to eating high protein diet.

There is no ideal body weight since every body carries the weight differently and getting hired is all up to the whims of the hiring manager at the time you go in anyway. FWIW I think you look fine and would be able to get hired in many clubs, so if I were you, I would stop postponing auditioning and just go. Dancing will help you shed the last few pounds and tone up anyway, so if you can get hired, you may as well make some money while you're getting fitter. Good luck!

Upscale clubs are probably a no go for you unless you tone up significantly. I can't work in an uber upscale club either because I have a pooch that's small but still noticeable. If you do moderate exercise and lifestyle changes you can probably do mid tier clubs.

I think you should try mid level clubs - just visit them / try a few !

Thank you everyone. yes the clubs closest to where I live are the average type of clubs. no upscale ones unless I want to travel an hour. still have to get my first pair of dancer shoes to walk and practice at home in before I audition.

One mistake I've learned from: NEVER judge your chances of being hired (or not) based on the house dancers. This goes for both positive and negative situations. When I auditioned at my present watering hole I was intimidated as fuck. (I still am) I was convinced that they wouldn't hire my overweight ass. (They did). I am extremely vigilant about my diet and exercise regimen as a result.
On the flip side I went to this shithole called Stilettos in AC with a buddy last summer. I saw dancers on staff that could have made 3 of me. I figured I'd be fine. WRONG! I got fired for being fat.
You just never know until you go in and see for yourself. By all means, keep up the healthy lifestyle changes but don't rely on our opinions for guidance. We are not club management. I hope all goes well for you.

I agree. In MY eyes I love my body but would love it EVEN more if lost maybe ten more pounds. I already feel sexy and confident and that last ten pounds would make me feel even MORE confident if that makes sense.
I do know each club is different and I just have to know not to take it to heart if I didn't get hired at one club but instead keep on tryin. Thank you

FWIW, I think that while you would benefit from toning up a bit, you do not need to lose wgt, if that makes sense. Honestly, I think you're beautiful!

Remember that muscle weighs more than fat & also that 'ideal wgt' will vary based on things like hgt & body type that you really can't control. Also remember that just bc a particular club thinks X wgt - Y wgt is ideal/acceptable … that doesn't make it so, & in sm cases, esp doesn't mean it's healthy.

'Ideal wgt' is very subjective, essentially. Worry more abt your health & how you feel than the numbers on the scale.

You're beautiful! You'd get hired at a mid tier club or dive. I'd avoid super upscale clubs where there are a ton of rules and you get weighed. I wouldn't go to one myself either, though- and I'm roughly 100 pounds. I find how they treat their girls dehumanizing.

I would wear halter dresses and onesies. Corsets and waist cinchers are your best friends. I think you'd look great in a corset and thigh highs.

ALWAYS thigh highs-they make everyone's legs look amazing.

You look great you would most likely get hired at my club no problem. I wouldn't worry too much about getting dancer shoes and practising in them either, just start in some nice heels and you can buy some shoes with your first earnings!

Thank you everyone!!! yes I AM naturally big boned but proportioned evenly... so my thighs and hips will always be out there. but it's just the baby weight/pouch I'm just more focused on maybe why I won't get hired. I am not being conceded but yes I do think I have a cute face so that will HOPEFULLY get me the job as well.
I took one pole fitness class month ago with a friend. I feel I DO and am able to move sexy it when I saw myself in the mirrors, I just lookd really awkward and not so sexy. I do understand you have to move gracefully, slow, sensual and sexy but how do you move like that with no pole experience? I don't just want to hold onto the pole and walk on a circle while holding it.
I hope my question makes sense, how do you move slow and sexy. I've watched videos on here but I'm looking for newbie/beginner level as on auditioning level lol.
if anyone can post a video that would be awesome. And I do notice some clubs want you to audition to 2-3 songs... How do you find your rhythm to a fast beat song? I can dance and I have rhythm but trying to dance slow to a fast paced song!

I know most of you will say for me to just get in there and audition asap but I don't feel 100% confident.... I like to know what I'm doing or how I'm doing it before I just walk into something.
    Thank you

The slow and sensual movements will come with time. All newbies, even those who have dance or pole experience, look awkward on stage for their first few stage shows. No amount of preparing at home will change that because it's entirely different to move around in your bedroom in front of a mirror vs. up on a stage in front of a crowd. Management knows this and all they are usually looking for in an audition is that you have a nice body (how nice depends on the club/manager) and are willing and able to take it off. They aren't judging your actual dancing skills. I know you say you don't just want to audition, but, honestly, auditioning/being up on stage is the only way that you will get over that awkwardness and start to move fluidly.

As for dancing slowly to fast songs, don't pay attention to the music or count out a slow beat in your head instead. Basically, move as slow as you can, and then try and slow it down even more because as a newbie, it will still likely be fast. If you dance long enough, you may even have the opposite problem -- the odd time I go clubbing nowadays, I default to dancing slowly because I just can't remember how to dance fast.

almost all club music is 4/4. to move and dance slowly but still in rhythm, just double and quadruple the beat you're counting in your head. instead of moving to each beat, move to every second beat or every fourth. count with the song, one-two-three-FOUR, one-two-three-FOUR and make each move last that long. or count to eight, or 16, and so on. you can move as slow as you want, WITH the music, using very simple math and predictive timing for any pop, rock, or hiphop song.
