Default question as far as make up is there ever such a thing as overboard? Also fake lashes?

I mean like your stripper make up and also outfits for that matter? Like is there ever such a thing as overboard? Because I hate how I look with too much make up. Seriously because like I used to have a whole make up set and I used to perform on stage and would apply all of it. One thing that is kind of out of whack is the fact that when I wear more than one product on my lips I look like I hyad a really big lip job. I once wore lip primer lip liner lip gloss and lipstick and that was just hilariously funny. But like I like lip primer. Yet it makes my lips bigger than when I just wear lipstick. But it looks terrible with just lipstick. So I just go with a slightly tinted primer. But I don't like like the look of over the top because a clown really isn't a stripper look or at least a good one. Also do you have to usually wear fake eyelashes? And why? Because I'm terrible at applying these I tried them when I was 17 and they were so high up. I'm really bad at dexterity with my hands. Other than that I also kind of am having an issue with proportion? Like I don't wear a lot of make up in efforts to not look out of proportion. Because I have a small nose very large eyes and lips and I don't want to make myself out to be a caricature. But I don't get what fake eyelashes do that mascara doesn't do?

I don't wear any make up in the club and do well. I work with dancers who put a full face on or just a little bit of make up and some also do well while others don't. I think the biggest effect make up has is on the dancer's own confidence and getting her in the right frame of mind to hustle, so if make up doesn't do that for you, go light on it. In the end, a customer isn't going to turn you down because you're wearing too much or too little make up -- it's about the whole package, including confidence and hustle, so do what makes you feel sexiest.

fake eyelashes lengthen more than regular mascara can. but they also rip your lashes out unless you are VERY careful, which necessitates using them even more, so its a vicious cycle at times. if you have long lashes naturally i wouldn't bother, but it can add some drama and "stripperfy" your look if you have short eyelashes.
i think you are over-thinking the makeup thing, just do what makes you feel and look your best! i only use a tinted sunscreen, eyeliner and mascara for work and i do just fine. it depends on the look you are going for.

I would love to have huge lips haha. Even too big.

I'd say it's a little difficult to go "overboard" when it comes to being a stripper. Ive seen some bad makeup, bad outfits and bad makeup+outfits but the only ones who stand out to me as looking silly are wearing unflattering outfits or having makeup and an outfit that clashes rather than compliments.

Dark, smokey eyes always look great in the club. Ive even done a dark eye with a reddish lip which would be a no no outside the club but it looked very nice in the lights. There are plenty of great makeup tutorials on youtube that are simple and sexy. i type in stuff like "sexy makeup" "night out makeup" etc. If youre really unsure, a smokey eye and nude lip is always a pretty safe route. Eyelashes help me out with this because i wear dark shadow and a thick line of eyeliner so even the best mascara makes my long lashes look non existant. I only work weekends so it's not like im plucking them off every day. If you dont like them dont wear em. Its really not a huge difference most of the time.

As for outfits.. im a simple person. I'll wear flashy colors but i dont put on bling or hair bows or fluffy boots or things like that. That is over the top and silly IMO. a simple two piece with stockings, or tube dress is enough for me, maybe i'm boring lol

With just a little coconut oil you can remove lashes safety, but depending on the glue it may cause booger clumps.

It really depends on the city and the kind of bar you are working in. Based off of the different regions I have worked in I would say that the bigger the city the higher the "normal" level of makeup for the club is. As in big city norm=full face and lashes, the whole 9 yards basically, whereas smaller city slash rural area norm=some powder or mascara, and a touch of eye liner. I find a lot of my makeup rubs off by the end of the night anyways, it's definitely mostly a form of psychological preparation. Kind of like how it would feel wierd to hustle in your regular everyday cotton panties instead of strippery lacey thongs...it's mostly about "getting into character".

Club lighting can generate sm very curious illusions. Similar to how it tends to camouflage your flaws, makeup combinations that would have you looking like a drag queen in 'normal' lighting can actually work quite well. Also, much in the same way that stage actors in theatre may prefer bolder makeup, bc they need to have their features/expressions readable from a distance, heavier darker makeup in the SC does the same thing for dancers.

As already stated, Youtube is the place to go for tutorials. I am going to be looking up sm contouring tutorials soon bc I am wanting to start dancing again, this time in my home town where I also have a FT retail job & don't want to risk customers recognising me from the club. I work in the heart of one of the main tourist districts & don't want that madness bleeding over into my straight job. So I will be looking into heavier makeup than I worked in previously to disguise myself.

Also, as already stated, just make sure your makeup & outfit don't clash. One of my favourite looks was a smokey eye, or just lots of dark neutrals round the eyes, + a burgundy lipstick that perfectly matched two of my favourite outifts & smartly complemented two others (a black/silver & a lacy golden brown, so another neutral). This combo made my features pop since I have very fair skin, rather than a nude palette that I think makes me look a bit washed-out.

Agree with Aniela. What may look drag queenish in daylight may look good in the club. It's dark after all. To be safe, I always go a little heavy.

Also, fake eyelashes are total win. Even if you don't put it right 100%, people won't notice in the club because it's so dark.

    This ^^

The makeup that looks good or even natural in a dark club is way more like stage/drag makeup.

The amount of makeup I have to wear for customers to even comment on it at current club is literally obscene. "I like your eyes!" *entire lash line to browbone covered in glitter* "I always like when you girls don't wear a lot of makeup" *face fully contoured with 0 blending*

I'd personally worry way more about not putting on enough and looking sick or invisible in the dark than putting on too much.

^^^^ Yes, it's easier to go way too light. I sm times had customers asking if I was anaemic bc between my total lack of tan, super-athletic build & just bolded eyes & lips … looking back, I guess it brought to mind the 'consumption chic' of the 1800s, esp in whiter lighting. I did borderline look sick.

But I have always found makeup problematic. I am extremely low-maintenace by nature & have nvr felt moved to experiment too much w/ a bolder, more stripperfied look. Guess I was still bound more by 'conventional' ideas of what kind of makeup job actually looks good, considering less the SC environment. Now that I will need disguising help, however, I am making more of an effort to branch out.

^Some clubs have very bright lighting though. When I moved back to my current city from a bigger city I had to tone down my makeup a bit because the club lights were both more powerful and the bar was smaller, so heavy makeup was very obvious on stage. I basically just nixed the false lashes and blended my makeup more. Little tweaks. The girl next door look sells very well here, and I even wear my glasses sometimes, which I NEVER would have done in the bigger city. For correlation, my attire is also more casual, I wear a lot of tank tops and tee shirts with socks here and do well, whereas in the bigger city I always wore lingerie or dresses. I would say it is important to go out and get a feel for the typical look in your area. This accomplishes 2 things: 1) it allows you to understand what the current "expectation level" of your market is, grooming wise(hair extensions are another great example--you will see these EVERYWHERE in a big city, but rarely in other places), and therefore 2) it allows you to analyise how you can best fill a particular void that you may notice--if all the girls are casual, a more classed up version of a similar look or slightly gothic version might be a welcome variation. Or if you are more comfortable blending in, you will know how. As with most things in marketing, you want to follow the macro trends of a particular marketplace and or industry but ensure your product has differentiating features that allow it to stand out from competitors.
