Default How in shape do you have to be to dance?

I've put on I think 30-40 lbs. I used to be 84 lbs now I'm more like 120. I am trying to stay up there though. Mainly because I'm apart of medical studies and the like that require at least that weight. I'm not really fat for normal people just not at all thin. I feel big personally though. I'm 5'2" with a 32HH(41) with a 25" waist and 37" muscular butt. I work out and I try to binge to make up for that. Anyhow I was just wanting to know do you experience an increase in pay when you're skinny or more I guess chubby? What weight do you experience the biggest increase? I'm also a size 10 us sizing when tailored for my height can fit an 8 but my bust is a little too large much of the time. And was originally a size 2 or 4 us. So I'm not plus sized.

First off, QUIT BINGING. Nothing abt that is good for your body, & a job as physically demanding as dancing will compoud those health problems in a hurry.

    Second,

Treat yourself like an athlete. Keep alcohol intake to a minimum, if at all, esp while at work. Run a search on 'drinking alcohol at work' for discussions on the pitfalls of drinking, + info on getting around alcohol offers/pressure from clubs & customers. You need to take care of your body to last in this business. Try to maintain a balanced diet & exercise. Try yoga or other 'lighter' workouts on off days.

oh I didn't mean alcohol binging. I don't drink alcoholism runs really heavily in my dad's family and I know I am an alcoholic who hasn't drank before. If I took once drink I'd basically be as good as dead. I was saying I binge as far as food. I binge on food to keep calories up for the ones I'm losing when I work out.

Also I think the clubs here in Southern Nevada are upscale? That's the only ones I really hear about really. I am not fat just not thin or small. Not like the examples given either. Like when I was 84 lbs I had a six pack and very tight tiny waistline. Now it's more like soft but still flat. I guess for the next 30 days I'm of the study I could tone it down get to a lower weight perhaps an upscale club would be more receptive.

I wasn't talking abt alcohol binging. I was emphasising alcohol further down bc drinking at work is very common, & if you're That Worried abt your wgt then you'll only be helping yourself by staying away from it.

'Binging to make up for the calories from working out' Sounds like a sit-down w/ a nutritionist is in order if you're having such difficûlty maintaining a healthy wgt/exercise balance.

As for what kind of club will take you, the only way to know for sure is to go there & talk to a manager abt auditioning.

I actually talked to my doctor when I was 17 when I was 84 lbs comfortably. She kept asking my mom if I was throwing up or working out too much. And I ended up having to be put on pills. Which were really uncomfortable to be on. Usually they put you on a birth control pill to regulate hormones. I am not sure if it did I got to 90 something lbs and then stopped because I didn't like how they made me feel. It's more because my mom is like naturally at a very low weight of the healthy range. I am very much the same. If I eat normally I go back to 100 lbs normally.

    also thanks for the suggestions.

Yeag I can only hope for the best I guess doesn't hurt trying.

Your stomach is the biggest deciding factor if you're curvier, in my experience. Body wraps work great.

Yeah, for a week. You have to keep getting them. Do learn to do it yourself, cuz then it's three bucks a pop versus eighty. You could also wear a minidress or corset and pop your boobs out to go topless.

my "perfect weight" for dancing seems to be around 130-140..anything above or below that, and my money drops a bit. a little curvy, but still toned. everybody is different , so none of us can tell you just by numbers what looks good on you or what's healthy for your body..altho i would think 120 pounds on a 5 ft 2 woman is perfectly healthy and normal. i second seeing a good nutritionist and really listening to them, from the sounds of it it seems like something is just not quite right

I lift weights a lot actually it's the main way I gain weight. I was told by my health practitioner my physical composition are more male than female which is why I have a propensity to gain muscle not really fat as much. Currently my fat percentage is 15% which is pretty good for me considering I've been much lower. I bulk up easily. And I have very big shoulders. So lifting more might be over the top.

My waistline kind of llooks like a mix of like Jessica Biel and Ann Magret. Kind of like a mix of them here

    and here

I originally was more toned and skinny. Angelia Layton is a good example I guess when I was 100 lbs in how flat my stomach was and how I lacked curves.

I'm kind of built like Jessica only with much bigger boobs and a somewhat larger butt.
An issue I have is if I lost the weight I'd have even a smaller butt. Because that's where I lose first and foremost. If I stay at my natural weight of 100 lbs or less I'd practically have nothing because I have built myself up on muscle. I'd be mainly losing that. But I'd be pretty petit with large boobs. I dunno what clubs usually want that's just why I asked.

I work out though. It's actually the only way I got the curves I have. Without exercise I'm typically small like I have no curves just skinny with big breasts and very broad shoulders because those never go away.

yeah I'd like to have an extensive check up as I had a check up previously and they blood tested me when the dr. prescribed the bc pills and nohing was wrong with me. But I didn't see a specialist so idk. I have always thought it was sorta odd my body was off as far as weight and compositions with fat v. muscle.

well yeah I should definitely try a lower end club I think. I read the stickies it seems being proportional is important. I'm never proportional. I'm always big up top very wide uptop and small to average on my lower half. I forgot shape would also play a role. My bad. I wonder what the club down the street is. I saw one of the girls there she was what I'd call slim blond average height. But now that I notice it probably what they call proportional too.

More squats, hip thrusts, that kinda thing. I'd probably do an upper/lower weight split 4x a week, and focus more on strength and maintenance for upper body while trying to add mass on your lower half to balance things out.

Remember that rocking "big" shoulders simply gives you the illusion of a smaller waist. It's certainly never been a problem, I occasionally get customers commenting on how "athletic" I look, but never negatively. And honestly it's probably helpful during dances- so often I have a customer that won't try anything with me but is a nightmare for the next girl.

Totally agree. I hardly do cardio at the gym just lift weights and it keeps me strong and fit for dancing. You really need that core strength and leg strength, especially for floor work, lap dances and pole work. I work with girls who are slim but aren't fit and I can see them getting puffed out after one song.

I do a lot of squats etc. To work out my butt but to lose weight I'd have to lose that mass. That's all I was saying. At a lower weight I'm smaller down there.

And really how big are yours? That's good to know. Mine are 43" currently. I rather not get bigger there. But I do like building on my lower half. I do lift weights I want to go with lower weights though. Than I usually do. Because I want a lean look more than anything.

Do you have a link to DIY instructions that you've found work well? I've been hearing about these a lot this week and am really interested in using them to tone!

Just measured and they're 45" at the low end of a diet for me, so they'd typically be a little bigger. But it's all about the proportion. Custies aren't walking around with a tape measure, so all they see is your waist-hip ratio. If you're blessed with wider shoulders and hips, your waist looks smaller than a girl who is tiny but more straight up and down. Optical illusion kinda thing.

    hahahahahah lol

that's just funny you mentioned hips. Hips and me make me laugh. I have nothing in that department. Hey maybe slightly better than my mom's side they're all Russian very swtraight and top heavy. I slightly deviate but the same name of the game. Originally though I had no hips to speak of ever lol. Like I said I'm shaped like Jessica biel. She's got some big shoulders and small hips same thing here. She and Britney spears are great examples on how small my hips are. But I have the butt and boobs still.

A 25" waist is very small. I'm a size 8 us and am about 60 pounds heavier. I would say on a 5,2" body a size 8 might be pushing it, cause I know I am and I am 5,7".

But it all depends. You will get a better idea once you are working from the feedback you are getting from customers and from being hired/not hired.

If you work in a neighborhood dump or an urban club you can be heavier. When Im heavier, I will work at the neighborhood dump until I shed the pounds. Most clubs prefer thin, toned and in shape(in general)!

The skinnier you are the more options you have. This is from a former fat dancer.

^This really defeats the purpose of exercising for weight loss. Eating a clean or balanced diet and exercising is enough, unless you are excessively working out i.e. competing in a body building/fitness modeling competition then you really don't need to "refuel", just eat regular, healthy meals (a protein shake is good to have post workout if you want to replenish your body and help to build muscle).

120lbs is not big, it all depends on how you carry weight, how you dress for your shape, your height etc and everyone is different. Having said that, some clubs are more strict than others and like others have said, you will have more options and an easier time in the industry if you are in shape.
