Default can you take a week off at work if you dance?

I really need to know this more than anything. I have looked at threads on this everyone says take of a day or two. The thing is I can't work around it that much. I can not dance at all at any time of my period. Basically. Like ever. I would have to take off at least for the whole week. Because I don't use tampons. I was thinking if I were hired what would I do then? After 3 weeks of working then having to say goodbye because I don't wear tampons. So I'm asking is it ok to take off a week of if you're hired initially?

It all depends on the club. I've worked clubs that you were scheduled 5 days and had to request days off/shift changes 2 weeks prior. I've been a non scheduled, walk in whenever I want dancer. Now I take months off at a time randomly and just let my manager know when I'll be changing to more or less days.

If you get some kind of medical note from your Dr saying you can't use tampons you should (hopefully) get excused for the week. It just seems like it would be unsanitary to force you to work in a pad. Again, it will depend on the club management.

It's not a medical reason I don't wear them. It's because basically I'm very sensitive it hurts and likely wouldn't be comfortable enough to dance. So basically I won't die. But I can't dance either or do much else for that matter. Well probably could do my current job since it's all on the phones and all.

if it hurts to use a tampon, something is up. are you using ones that are maybe too big? for example, if im on the last days of my period and i try using a larger tampon (like i do for the rest of the week), it can hurt - so i have to use smaller ones. you could also look into a diva cup or something similar, but im really not sure how big or small those are.
but honestly if it hurts to use tampons i would go to the doctor for sure. maybe they can do something to help, or at least suggest some products!

    Try a cup or sponge.

If it is a no-contact club, you miiiiight be ok w/ those black thong pantyliners, dark-coloured thong & booty shorts over it. Definitely double-up your knickers during those shifts & change the pads out frequently.

Also, look into different forms of birth control that can significantly lighten your cycle.

But like every1 else has said, go to the dr & see what's going on down there. Tampons shouldn't hurt like that.

When you go to talk to mgmt abt getting hired, scheduling is one of the things they go over w/ you. Again, every club is different so sm will be more flexible than others. There is no need to overthink it.

Depends if it's a schedule club or not. All the clubs in my city are no-schedule so I frequently take anywhere from 4-7 days off without a word.

Well I'm a virgin and so I've read cups weren't that good of an idea for people in my state. Now tampons I have no clue why they hurt but they do and I've heard it hurts for some more than others. I think I'm just more sensitive I guess. I generally am all over that's why I can't get massages or have any contact on my neck etc... I am just generally a sensitive person.

Tampons are uncomfortable for me as well, so I just say fuck it. Work hard and you won't have to worry about giving yourself a little time off
I tried birth control when I was 17 because my dr. said I needed it to gain weight it just made me feel like I was on my period 30 days straight.

I had the birth control the minipills kind? I guess. What kind lessens the period

Different birth controls will work differently for every woman. I find that I am happiest w/ the IUD. Quick insertion, there is a hormonal & a non-hormonal version, pretty much set it & forget it. It has taken 6mo for my bleeding to 'even out' but it is MUCH lighter, a lot less severe secondary symptoms & is actually fkng predictable now but that's just MY experience.

There are girls on here who swear by the IUD, & others who are convinced for one reason or another that it's the devil.

Pretty much anything you do b.c.-wise wil have side effects & risks, just like any other medication or procedure. Best thing to do is make a gyno appt to discuss all of this.

I never thought iuds were an option when trying to regulate cycles. I always thought it was only pills that were an option. The pill I took was something I never wanted to repeat again. I thought all of them were the same.

But yeah I should talk this over with obgyn.

I just need to find one that's more flexible in general.

sponges and cups are the same problem. I have always figured when I lost my virginity that I'd start using tampons. It's never been a problem. But I guess I just have to find a club that will manage around it.

Well, the pill is more controllable. You can choose to skip your period or move it up/down by taking the regular pills. However -- not all pills are the same. They have varying levels of estrogen and progesterone, so while one pill may give you a miserable experience, based on your side effects, your doctor should be able to figure out which hormone levels are causing that and recommend a different pill. My doctor had a handy little chart for that and helped me find the pill with the right levels for my body.

With the IUD, you sort of get what you get. I basically stopped getting periods entirely when I got the IUD, and apparently that's a fairly common occurrence. Thing is, you won't know how your body reacts to it until you've had it for a few months and your body has adjusted to it. Some people have awful experiences with it, so you just never know. But if you get the copper IUD, there are no hormones; with Mirena, there are, but they're a tiny fraction of what you get from the pill.

In any case, definitely talk to your doctor about your options!

^I have the same problem and I've been dancing for many years, you can either use the pill to skip your period occasionally or wear a tampon alternative like a menstrual cup or a sponge.

It also depends on the club, some are more lenient with shift requirements than others.

Whether you are a virgin or not does not make any sort of difference as to whether or not a tampon would be comfortable or uncomfortable. My vag is super tight and tampons are incredibly uncomfortable for me to insert, I just use coconut oil to lube them up and they slide right in. You probably don't need to see a doctor, and I ****highly**** doubt your lack of sexual experience has anything to do with your inability to put in a tampon lol

    ^^ This

The idea that sex loosens your vagina is a myth.

If you can pop a baby out and have it return to normal wtf is a little dick gonna do

If you work at a club without schedule requirements, they probably won't care if you take a week off if you're there consistently throughout that month.

I've taken a week off here and there before, without any issues. However, when I took a full month off, I had to re audition. I didn't give them notice of this though, so I don't know if that has anything to do with me having to re audition.

When I was in high school, inserting tampons REALLY FUCKING hurt. I would get over it by doing 3 things: #1 use light plastic tampons. Regular cardboard tampons still hurt me to this day. #2 lube up the tampon and your vagina, it makes it a lot easier to insert. #3 try lying on the bed or finding a really comfortable position. Being really relaxed makes the tampon go in a lot easier. Good luck!

P.S. I'm on my period and wearing a tampon at work. For me, dancing (exercise) really helps with the cramps.

If your tampons hurt when they are inside you, it is very likely that you're not pushing them in far enough. Tampons IMO also can cause cramping to be worse. I feel this way because of personal experience, experience from others, and the fact that tampons have chemicals in them...

As for taking a week off work, it depends on the club. Most of the clubs I've worked at didn't require schedules, and I often took weeks off at a time because I didn't feel like working. At the club I'm working at now, to be a house girl you must schedule 7 shifts a month. But they don't fine you for missing days, they just want you to communicate with them if you're missing a day, and make it up. So I've taken weeks off. My friend was a house girl in CHI and took several shifts off, racked in 200 in fees and they wouldn't let her work until she paid them... She was broke so she negotiated w/them and they let her pay like half then work and then pay the rest pf the fee. Just goes to show you ever club is different.

I still think you should try to figure out a way to work on your period. Perhaps you could give tampons another shot, or try some of the other options previously mentioned (sponge, cup).

To be fair, I could not use tampons for the life of me until I lost my virginity. Its not about tightness or whatever, its just your body isn't use to having foreign objects put in it. The coconut oil trick did not work for me and I had the embarrassing experience of having my tampon push itself out while I was dancing once. Do yourself the favor, until you can get a handle of it, get a doctors note for whatever bullshit reason and take the time off. So at least now, u have 2 months to figure out how to use a tampon.
