    Default chronic UTI

Does anyone else deal with this? I do all the "right" things like peeing before and after sex, cotton panties, staying clean, etc but i get a UTI literally every single time I have sex now. I'm so sick of taking antibiotics. This last one I tried taking d-mannose with cranberry extract along with cystex and tons of water and its still there. I will go to a Dr tomorrow for antibiotics but then I'll also have to deal with a yeast infection from that. So upset about this and in pain. I don't know what I'm doing wrong and my dr has nothing helpful to say either.

been taking 5 grams of d-mannose a day! (you can't overdose on it) and it felt like it was clearing up at first but nope

Sorry to hear you're experiencing uti which can be quite painful.

I've had it once and didn't realize till I happened to look down and saw blood in my urine and the doc diagnosed it as uti.

Most doctors are horrible at thoroughly explaining diagnosis. They only have a few minutes with you and simply prescribe a pharmaceutical that match your symptoms.

If you feel like you're doing everything right then maybe it's your partner. Perhaps talk with your partner to see what preventative measures he/she is or will be taking.

Also it could be the first round of antibiotics was not effective maybe you need a longer course of treatment.

And I have a family member who swears by brand names pharmaceuticals only. If you are taking generic antibiotics ask for brand name. Apparently the brand names are slightly more effective.

i have at least 3-4 a year and that's considered chronic according to a lot of drs, so i can't imagine having them every time i had sex..do you wash as well as pee after every time you have sex?? i've found that helps tremendously in my case, as well as staying hydrated at all times and not using thongs except for work. your partner needs to stay really clean too. the last time i went to the dr they said they would run some tests on my sample to ascertain what exactly is causing them, ask them to do that for you. in most cases its e coli but it could be something else. they definitely need to be running tests because scarring can occur after awhile and really damage things down there

I got one as well at the moment. A really bad one. It has been going on for a while and I have lower back / kidney pain. The kidney ultrasound looked normal a week ago and the urine sample showed a UTI, but nothing really surprising. I am feeling more sick now and might go to another doc / to the doc again soon. Especially the back pain is strange and disabling. Not been able to work for several days already and got the flu on top (or maybe it's the cause?)

I guess you went through the internet and already found all kinds of advice. I just wanted to say I feel with you I think I got mine from not being careful enough when wiping a scarf back and forth "down there" in front of the cam.

I had uti last year. The biggest regret of mine is that i took that antibiotic which actually made me dizzi, sick and after a year i still have constipations!
You have to change your diet!
Before i got uti i did everything to get it: i ate refined carbs, sweet, drunk beer everything in one day!i walked with my bare feet on cold marble tile. Ofc yeast will overgrow!
    Since than i eat wisely!
    ----
Sinna, i had kidney's problem and lower back pain. But when i had my uti i had pain in bladder and down. Also i literally almost cum from the pain while peeing.

Not exactly rare. Birth control is weakening your immune system.

I had a friend that would get uti's everytime she had sex with her boyfriend, at that time, it was him. Are you using condoms? Maybe you could try that and see.

I forgot to mention suppliments which i took after my uti. Which is very important, after inflametion the tissue has a scar.
    1)uva ursi.
    2) flax seed, you can just leave a spoon full of flaxseed in water. Over night it will become like a jelle you have yo drink it with seeds.
    3) horse tail.
    4) red raspberry leaf.
Well diet also important, dress up when you go outside, do not sit outside on cold objects( you can freeze nerve, and not only), do not walk with bare feet on cold tile even over wood.

I had this--chronic UTIs, about once every two months, for over a year. It was awful.

I ended up telling my doctor that this was chronic. He referred me to a urology specialist. After looking to make sure I didn't have some weird bladder cancer or anything, she put me on a very low level dose of antibiotics for about six months. The idea is that this very low level of antibiotics won't cure an actual UTI, but it'll stop one from starting. She said that sometimes UTIs damage the uterine tract in a way that makes it more prone to future infections, and the best way to stop the process is to hit it with low-level antibiotics to make sure it can heal. I won't lie, my vaginal health wasn't super awesome during that six months, but it wasn't the full-blown yeast infections that follow intensive courses of antibiotics and it was well worth it to not wake up to that awful painful UTI feeling every two months.

It worked, thankfully. I've been UTI-free for almost a year, knock on wood. I always pee and then wash in the shower after sex now, which I think also helps.

Get checked for interstitial cystitis, and to see if you have a too narrow urethra. Both these things can cause chronic UTIs.

I had chronic UTI's for years and finally I found a doctor who explained things to me. UTI's can be brought on not only by bacteria but trauma to your urethra. He suggested I try other positions during sex that don't "bump up" against the urethra from the inside. Basically missionary is a no-no.

I've gone down from 4-6 a year to only once or maybe twice a year since then. I also try to catch them early and use herbal cures so I'm not using antibiotics constantly. I've already developed a penicillin allergy from over use after 20 some years of using them several times a year.

I often get a uti after I sleep with someone for the first time. I've also noticed that they're more common with certain condoms than with others. Durex extra sensitive seems like the only one that doesn't cause me problems. Trojans are THE WORST.
Do your future self a favor and work hard now.

Imagine having one almost every week.. that was me two years ago. didnt want to leave the house, stopped having sex which didn't help. I would just cry and do everything i could for it. After a while the azo wasn't even relieving the pain and i was sick of taking the antibiotics for a week and it'd be back within a month.

Finally I was referred to a urologist, was checked out and he said all was normal. I wanted to break down and cry right it the office because i couldnt leave knowing everything was "normal" but still have the pain. He gave me miracle pills, Nitrofurantoin (Macrobid) and they are the low dose antibiotic. I get the pain maybe once a month now and only take one when i feel the burn coming on (i dont use condoms so this is why) it's recommended you just keep taking them but i take as needed and its gone in a day. really really changed my life, living with those is torture.

All the above. Plus, make ur own organic coconut oil pessaries. Use a ice cube tray. Push inside at night and wear a pad to bed. Do this daily, even when bleeding. I'm talking for over 6weeks. Look it up on google. Also, coco oil as lube for sex. Coco oil and condom's don't play well together ftr.

Also sea bucktorn oil is good for vagina. Once i bought pessaries made of it, and used them when i had yeast infection.
It has vit E,A. I may do it my own now with ice cube tray.
Girls who take antibiotic, you should re populate your gut with probiotic, at lease drink a kefir organic full fat plain.

Thanks for all your input! I'm getting a referral to a urologist & will know what to ask about now. I got a very strong antibiotic for this one but it still doesn't feel like it's completely gone so may have to go back
To answer questions, I always use condoms although never pay attention to the brand so I'll keep that in mind. I'm an escort so it's not just one guy that's the issue. As you can imagine, this really fucks with my ability to work. I'm a pretty healthy eater but I could do better! Thanks for your advice ladies!

Sadly once they killed( good bacteria) they may never come back. Beside taking probiotic also good to take a resistance starch such as plantain, mashed potato.
I have seen some super probiotic with 40 different kinds of bacteria, price thought...150$ kind of made me think twice-calling BRAVO.

I totally agree with Vackra about getting checked for IC. My Uterine tract wasn't fully developed as a baby and as a result have had chronic UTI's my entire life. Come to find out- as an adult I have Interstitial Cystitis. Not a fun thing.

If you are taking antibiotics and it isn't helping it might not be an actual UTI. Did the doctor's tell you 100% that you have a UTI? IC symptoms feel very similar but treatments for UTI can actually make an IC flare up happen/prolong. Buy an at home test for UTI and see if there's bacteria in your urine. If it comes back negative, completely cut out alcohol, caffeine, sugar and DEF. Spicy foods for a few days and see if that helps moderate the problem.

(Side note: Apple Cider Vinegar for the ladies not wanting an antibiotic. Unfiltered. I recommend Braggs w/the mother... drink it mixed with water every hour for the first day and then 3x a day for a week and it has ALWAYS cured my UTI's.) IF you're having lower back or kidney pain GO TO THE ER Seriously, I was hospitalized for 3 weeks because of a severe kidney infection and it was terrible. Kidney Infections are LIFE THREATENING. It will start feeling like almost a pulled muscle in your back, and then you will feel like you have the flu. Please do not put off going to the DR if this is happening to any of you.

Ladies, this thing just haunts me every damn month since december. In my case it's always after squirt/using toys intensely. Also my doc said that lube can provoke it, too, so I ditched it. I went to doc, managed to heal it, but it feels like it 's slowly returning to me. God, it just sucks. I take meds now, but it returns after every time I use toys. Guess I will have to ditch them too lol.
Please, anyone who had it, can you share a diet? I was told by doc: no coffee, no chocolate, nothing spicy/too salty, no alcohol, drink plenty of water. (I follow it all but cheat with chocolate lol) But maybe you have some other advice too?
And also - what to eat so it helps to prevent it?
    Thank you very much.

Jesus Christ what the hell are you allowed to eat? For ACV I usually see it recommended as 1-2 tablespoons in a cup of water, if it really grosses you out you can probably dilute it more. Do you generally get enough water? I would up your hydration and see if that helps, also maybe try some urinary tract health supplements? https://www.prevention.com/health/g2...-prevent-utis/

Cranberry supplements and d-mannose. I use back-up nitrofurantoin from alldaychemist.com if things go south.. I'm not interested in daily supplements right now.
