I don't live with him, he just does my taxes because hes an accountant. I mean, anyone else would think its embarrassing that their grandfather knows their doing camming online. Im an adult I can do what I want, but its so frowned upon.

look, Ive been trying. Every time I search it always gives me like 10000 different answers. That's why I'm asking HERE.
try harder
edit because that wasn't very helpful: camming requires a lot of independence. I'm sure you could find the answers on google. I kinda get the feeling you don't really know what you're doing and I'm not sure if this is the right job for you right now.
Not sure why I'm here for help because I'm new to all of this and all of you are pretty much making me feel dumb. SORRY I don't want to google the wrong shit.
of course I don't know what I'm doing, I'm new to everything. But that's why I came here for some advice and help so I can get started into knowing how things work as being a cam girl.
I really doubt you have the maturity it takes, to be honest. have you really thought this through?
Don't feel bad hon, Google is like looking for a diamond in pile of sh*t and you always get so many conflicting answers . Plus if you're not sure how to word things the amount of random crap increases exponentially lol.
I'm not afraid to do the research...I've done the research, I just don't know if I should follow through with anything it tells me because I'm not sure if what I'm reading is entirely true. Yet again, is why I'm here...so I can get the correct answers from real, experienced people.
How could you assume my maturity level based on a thread? Yes, I've thought this through.

There's a sticky thread in this section of these forums with all the tax information you could ever need. We just get tired of new people coming here and starting new threads asking questions that have been answered many many times. The really successful camgirls take the time to read as much as possible in here. I know it's a lot of information but that's why there's those helpful sticky threads.
In school they taught me that Australia was colonized by British convicts but they never taught me that the government owns a large percentage of everything I earn. I was the kid asking in social class 'Yes I know I need a condom for sex but how do I pay my bills?'
MissValentine, yes you will have to pay taxes. If you don't you gonna get a severe talking to from le government and mum and dad will not be happy. Contact the government and register your business with your address, get all letters sent to you. You will have to do a tax return or get an accountant if you can't figure it out. I assume you are over 18 haha cuz otherwise shit's gonna go down.
If your parents/ grandpa opens it by accident, just explain that you are working from home and self employed if you don't want them to know. Lying is fine if for the right reasonshell maybe grandpa will still help do your taxes if you are honest about it or good at lying.

[QUOTE=audritwo;2816832]Even independent cam girls (skype shows) have to pay taxes. Any money you earn is INCOME. You should be paying taxes from income you made on snapchat. If not, get ready for a sweet audit from the IRS, little girl!
What you have to do is go into your bank account and save any deposits made for snapchat, and log it in a spreadsheet.
What's a spreadsheet? And where do i find it? Thanks
I use TurboTax to do my own taxes. I'm pretty much illiterate when it comes to anything like this, cause my Dad was an acct., and so i never learned to do my own taxes.
If I can figure it out, trust me, so can u.
I even got a state tax refund this yr., don't ask me how that happened.

What's a schedule C? And how do I have access to that?! Skyprivate doesn't have an 1099. I would like for my grandpa to do all of this work but I just dont want him seeing my taxes owed from skyprivate

Girl, Turbo Tax will literally walk you through everything. All you need is to have record of all your earnings (which you would have to give to your grandfather) and any write offs (equipment, toys, cam necessities, outfits, ect) If you don't want your Grandfather to know what you, that is your best bet. Also you are gonna need to learn this someday.
Also schedule c:

okay, I see where your getting at, but so how do i keep record of my earnings? and how would I give that to him? Wouldn't he find out where that money is coming from? and the money that I earn, I plan on buying things like clothes, makeup, rent...etc. How does all of that work? Do I need to keep a record of that too?

This may help

You are a camgirl; camgirls pay taxes. You don't want your grandpa to know you're a camgirl; don't let your grandpa do your taxes.
...You don't have to keep records of what you spend your income on, unless you plan on writing it off as business expenses. Things like clothes, makeup, and rent may or may not be business expenses.
Keep in mind that if your grandpa or whomever is claiming you as a dependent, it's important to know and tell them to stop. I found out that my parents were claiming me as a dependent after I had filed my own taxes at age 19, and I was like, huh, that's kinda uncool.
"Do you do tech support in exclusive?"
Don't call me BB...I'm not the prime minister of Israel!
Just as a reminder, you can make money camming and offering shows, but when you start buying new things and have your own money PEOPLE WILL NOTICE and they WILL ASK QUESTIONS! You're going to have to have an answer to that.
My family doesn't know what I do, but I am almost 30 and am married and support myself. When my mom asks why I don't have a job, I tell her I do graphic design from home. In 5 years she's only ever asked a few times, but I live far away from her and I think she has a feeling I do something weird and that's why she doesn't ask very often.
With Turbotax, you will have to pay for the self employed version. You will have to file all of the forms, though Turbo does walk you through literally everything. You should expect to pay at least 30% of what you earned, since you aren't paying into taxes with the money you're being paid. When you start earning money don't start spending it right away and don't spend all of it. If you're not saving at least 30% of each "paycheck" you're going to be hit with a large tax bill when it's time to file. You will not want to owe that, you'll want to pay it right away.
You can even hire an accountant to help you, but you will need to tell them what it is that you do so you will be able to right off the appropriate items. Clothes, makeup, etc will likely not be something you can write off since you can't really prove you only use it for "work". Some people do write it off, but there's a big debate on whether or not that is okay or legal to do.
If you want to keep track of earnings you can use Excel (spreadsheet) they even have the free version on Windows it's the starter pack. Depending on where you decide to work and how often you're getting paid you could do daily, weekly, monthly earnings or all of the above. You can even use a notebook, calculator, and a frikken pencil.
What's really important is that you take a step back and look at the situation:
You need to learn how to advertise/market yourself, where to do that (twitter, forums, blogs, ny form of social media), what your persona/niche will be, when you will cam/do sessions, how you will do them, how you will accept money in both a legal way and one that abides by terms of services on all sites.
You'll need to answer people's questions about why you have money, where you're getting the money, why you're in your room for so long, who you are talking to.
In the long run will this affect you? Will you care when someone you know finds you? What about when they try to out you? Will you care when people are screencapping you, stealing your photos, posting you on porn piracy forums and sites. You can get on cam once and that's all it takes to be uploaded in places you won't want to be. Once you go live you're out there forever.
Your best bet is to get an accountant and have him/her do it for you. Also, to hide it from family you can always say to them that you do horoscopes and tarot card readings online. These sites work very much like cam sites do. This would be a good way to explain where the money is coming from. X

I know I'm old, but I remember a class in high school where we learned to pay our taxes. They taught you how to fill out the short form, or something like that, but still. They should teach that shit in school. Not that it's easy, I'm new to camming this year, and have been paying estimated tax every 4 months. I'm going to an accountant when April rolls around...arg! Get ready for Big Brother honey

They never taught us taxes in high school, instead they taught the girls how to cook and care for a baby... I never had kids and don't plan to in the future. Stupid gender roles and stupid schools not preparing us for the real world.
