Default Have you published anything on Kindle? How'd it go?

I just published my first Kindle book, today. It was incredibly easy to do once I got over the sheer terror over putting my work out there. I mean, if you can create a Facebook or Twitter profile, you can publish a book.

So, you probably want to know what it's about, right? Here's the blurb for the story:

When a former male stripper returns home for the funeral of a friend, he only expects to take a depressing walk down memory lane. But then a loose end, in the form of a woman he once knew, throws a wrench in his plans to wallow in self pity. Years of sobriety fall by the wayside as he plunges into the depths of his own unresolved issues as this sexy woman from his past seduces him back into the world of exotic dance and the hedonistic lifestyle that goes along with it.
I titled the book "Damaged People." I plan on offering the book for free download once it's approved by amazon. It's only about 25-26 pages and is quite X-rated.

Is anyone else here published on Kindle? I'd love to hear about your experiences!

I totally want to read your book. I wrote a sort of how-to stripping book. It has consistently earned about $8-$10 a month. Not a ton but it covers my Netflix subscription.

I'm in the process. Just need the push to finish. I want a bestseller though.

I would totally read this! I am an addict of Fanfiction (guilty pleasure, I have no shame! ) so this sounds great! I know a lot of the authors who write fanfiction that then pull their popular stories and change the names to go on and get GREAT results on Kindle, amazon etc. Even if you don't make it free, let me know when it's available so I can go get it!

Hell, I read Fifty Shades of Grey years before it came out as a book lol

I thought maybe there were a few writers here on SW. It's now available for purchase, but I will offer it for free download very soon. I just have to plan my marketing strategy for maximum impact on the free download. It should be less than a week until it's offered for free.

This is more nerve wracking than the first time I stripped professionally. Back then I was just baring my flesh, now I'm baring my soul, in a way.

    Tourdefranzia ,
I am happy that you decided to published your work and it looks like your book will become quite successful
Actually, I self-published many e-books on Nook Press and Amazon kindle under my phone sex characters' names. Nothing special but erotic horror short stories and erotic poetry gear towards my clients. In addition, I have sold several of my erotic horror short stories and erotic poetry e-books on Niteflirt and even on ebanned.com. Plus, I also charge 25 to 300 for private taboo flash fiction and short stories including splatterpunk and even snuff themes. I have a few clients who like my private works. However, I also work on my horror mainstream short stories, plays ,scripts, and short stories as well.

Yes! It was extremely awkward asking for beta readers on Facebook for erotic fiction. It would also help us keep each other accountable in our writing progress. For instance, I was part of a writing group a few years ago where the focus was memoir. There were 6 members in the group and we each had to present original work of not more than 10 pages to the group every week. Each member would read and critique the work as well as offer input on grammatical or continuity errors.

The group was mostly of christian writers, a sci-fi writer and me. I told them I was a romance writer and toned down the sex in my writing when presenting to the group. Even the toned down version of my writing was too much for some of the members to tolerate, so I left the group to find a better fit. I never did find a new group who is comfortable with erotica.

I'm open to the idea of a Facebook group. Can we have groups here? I've never looked into it, but that would be ideal!

Question: When writing your book, did you ladies type it out on the computer, and then print it? Or?
Somehow directly put it up on kindle, or amazon?
    Thank You in advance.

You can sign up for a kindle vendor account (I think that's the name of it) to upload your work, cover image, etc and BAM! Instabook

I use Scrivener for my iMac. It's an excellent tool for story-boarding. Then I converted the file to Word 2011 for mac before uploading to Kindle. I am impressed at how seamlessly the conversion to Kindle went. I didn't have to do any formatting to remove artifacts or to realign the text in a more legible way.

What about your cover image? How did you do that? Honestly that's the part that confuses me the most.......I'm not the most artistic person..

I designed it using the design tool provided by Amazon for authors. Everything I used for my cover art was available for free from a large design library. You can probably find some people on Fiverr to design a cover image for you. Maybe spend $20 and get 3-4 different designs from designers and just upload your favorite.

But seriously, it's super simple to create cover art using the tools provided by amazon, they walk you though step by step.

I've set up the free download dates for Nov. 28-30th 2015. If you leave a review, you'll have good luck for the rest of the year!
