When you beat yourself up because you see a customer you were trying to get into the champagne room go back with another girl and analyze your "hustle mistakes" you just made and how you know nothing about hustling so you might as well just wallow in your self pity .

    Bumpity bump bump!

    1) Refuse to adapt to club culture. In a club that doesn't get busy until at LEAST 9pm, and even then the customers are mostly nursing drinks and trying not to spend their dance money until the last part of their trip... Rigidly go in at 7pm because the house fee is $10 less, you feel like you should work at least 6 hours, and you MIGHT catch a good customer which would let you leave early. Proceed to make yourself so tired of the wallet-sitting customers that by the time they're ready to spend, you're exhausted & ready to go home.

    2) Extension of that: Judge your schedule by other people in different jobs. Feel lazy for going to work when it's already dark out & even your bartender SO has been at work for 2.5 hours. Make social plans the next day that require you to get up early because "There's no reason I can't get my ass out of bed at 10 am". Again, force yourself to go in earlier to offset such feelings and plans, and have to throw in the towel by the time money is flowing.

    One more:

Refuse to buy new shoes because they're expensive and yours are 'perfectly good', even though you've been wearing them over a year & the cushioning has broken down so much that the balls of your feet are sore as fuck, and your knee joints are in pain by the end of the night.

Work slow shifts just because you're bound and determined to have a normal, non-stripper schedule. Tell yourself that dealing with cheapie regulars and non-spenders on day shifts is worth not having to deal with the crazy custies that come out at night. Ignore the fact that hustling day-shift custies requires 10x the energy of working on night shifts and rewards you with half the cash!

(Yeah, yeah, some women love regulars and love calmer shifts.. this post isn't intended to fire shots at you ladies!)

OMG I know this is two years ago but this is just what I needed to read!!! This really sums up my situation! My SO is word for word what you described. He won't move out and I hate where we live (among MANY other things), all so we can "not have any debt whatsoever and can get a good home by age 35, then build up equity and buy a nicer home, by like age 50, and then retire at 65." Yep, according to his plan we don't have debt but I've gained 20 pounds, have headaches all of the time, can't sleep, and have bags under my eyes and get sick a lot. Sorry to threadjack, I will get back on topic, but that post from charlie was just so dead-on I can't believe it. I REALLY need to reevaluate things...

Right??!!! Like, you're only supposed to start enjoying your life and living without stress when you're 60+ years old. Ridiculous! And such a recipe for burnout. Life is all about finding a healthy balance. Waking up when I'm 65, filled with regret about how many years I spent suffering just so I could relax when I'm old... That's my worst nightmare! It's good to plan and invest for the future. But... this is your life!
