Default Poll: your age, as a dancer

-please check the answers that indicates your age, as a dancer
-If you're not dancing at the moment/ anymore, answer with how old you were when you did dance...

Just curious what the average is, at least here on SW.

It's common to think most dancers are in their early 20s, right? But I see/hear plenty of dancers who are (or probably are) older than that. And I wonder if maybe the actual average is higher than the stereotype...

(multiple choice is allowed for this poll)

p.s. i edited this poll so that the options you can choose from, are in approx. 3-year age ranges. That way at least the answers will be spread across even intervals... and will visually read better.

Surprised at the results so far, most girls in my club are between 27 - 32. I'm 31 now and was 28 when I started. I always tell customers I'm 25 though. I've been 25 now for 6 years!

I started late, at 22. Going to be 30 very soon (that's what I chose) and have no plans to quit anytime soon. I'll quit when the money isn't worth it.

The dancer who taught me the ways of the dance world just turned 40 and still dances in California. Oldest dancer at my club is 47, she travels all around my area and hits my club a few times a year. Both have a bomb hustle. Actually, a lot of the higher, consistently earning, dancers in my club are my age or older.

Started 2 days after my 22nd birthday, am 27 now and will work the whole 2016 and then retire, at least that's the plan. I had about a year break a few years back.

Started working in clubs at 25 and I'm about to be 28, I love dancing and I'm going to keep doing it until the money isn't worth it. I'm glad I started dancing "late". I'd been working in regular bars since I was 19, I quit drinking a year before I started dancing, and I'd already lived a lot. If I had started dancing as a teenager I'm pretty sure I wouldn't have been as successful at it. My best friend started dancing at 24, and the best hustlers I work with are in their late 20's to 40's. I work with 2 women in their 50's who have awesome bodies, but they are super hustlers and I see a lot of the guys one in particular attracts are super young! These 21/22 year old men just adore her! I have gone back to working the day shift because at this point in my life I don't want the late nights and college boys. Old dudes and construction workers all the way!!

I started at almost 29 years old and will turn 46 in a few days. I haven't been into the club this month, but I'm not ready to consider myself retired just yet. I've done a lot in the exotic dance industry. I worked as a Feature dancer for a short time (waste of time and money). I've traveled quite a bit around the USA as a stripper. I've worked in all kinds of clubs, probably 40 or 50 clubs in total with all kinds of different rules and level of extras. I've done burlesque revue shows, I've done bachelor party shows and I've done straight up escorting. I've worked at some the most divey bars imaginable and also some of the most upscale clubs and parties you can imagine. I did webcam work in the early days of camming (late 1990's). I've even dabbled in a little amateur porn.

So, that's my resume. I like being naked and sexual. So far, it seems to be working out for me. If I'm going to stay in the industry I need to start exploring being a dominatrix. Generally, women in middle age do very well ($$) dominating clients. :-)

I started my second semester of undergrad so I was 18. I didn't use it as a real/main job till recently like 21 or 22. Now I'm 23 and don't know when I plan to stop. Probably whenever I have my masters and start a career (close to 30).

Started a few weeks before I turned 19, danced off and on until 23, went back to it a couple months ago at age 37. Make much better money now than I did when I was young. Don't want to still be doing it, but need the money and the flexible schedule. Who knows when I will officially hang up the stilettos.

Despite all the doom and gloom about the industry allegedly dying, it's steadily been better every year for me as I improve at this. Although customers never believe I'm 25 unless they've talked to me for a while- I apparently look younger but communicate like I'm much older. I have my fingers crossed for my mom's aging genes. Only in the last couple years have people stopped mistaking her for one of my siblings, and she's in her mid-fifties.

I feel that percentage wise, there are more younger dancers, but the older ones tend to take a bigger share of the money. After you've been in the game for a while, you've got your look and hustle down, established regulars, have goals for the night beyond partying (not saying all younger dancers are just there to party, but we end up with a revolving door of baby strippers looking for free drinks) , and no longer live in terror of losing a sale because a customer might not like you. You also tend to have a better idea of what shifts to work, and have probably graduated to a better club with higher earning potential. Older dancers also tend to do better with older customers that are uncomfortable with getting dances from very young strippers, but still get dances from younger guys.
