To any of the ladies who purchased your own pole to practice on, have you noticed the grip is much more slippery than the ones at the club?

And I'm talking the professional poles (like x-pole) not the cheap stuff. I own the x-pole and I literally cannot climb it without slipping where as the one at the club I can climb effortlessly.

Is there something I should be putting on my pole? Should I wipe it down with alcohol?

Xpoles are shipped in a protective coating. As you dance on them, it will wear off and become less slippery.

Wiping it down with alcohol is fine, but ultimately the only thing that really seems to "break it in" is just using it.

Yes. I constantly have to wipe my x-pole with alcohol. Especially with how sweaty my hands get while practicing. I feel like i wipe it down wayyyy too much like literally after every trick but i need to or else i cant stick. Lol

Yep totally! I had to buy 'dry hands' (think you can probably get it on ebay) to put on my hands which totally fixes the problem

Does the X pole leave a mark on your ceiling or scratch the floor at all? I just moved and am afraid of marking up my new place but I want to get a pole.

I can't comment on the floor because I've always had it in carpeted rooms, but I haven't had it leave any ceiling marks.

Me kicking the ceiling accidentally otoh...

Wipe it down with alcohol. Also, I know this sounds crazy, but using barbasol (the men's shaving cream) will give you grip in the areas you need if you use small amounts and rub it in. I've been taking classes at a pole studio in my town and they even sell cans of the stuff, it's really handy.
