I just started on streamate. I have never had a stripping job or anything to do in the sex industry but I just made 81 dollars in two hours. Is this good? I am amazed. Is it just because I am new, or will this last?

thats pretty good! if im not mistaken Streamate has a "new " model tag for a week or two.. so work a few hours each day until its over.. read the streamate thread for helpful tips.

OP, that all depends on your personal needs, financial responsibilities, and goals. Some girls make $5 an hour or less, some make $100-200 on average. Some people think stripping and masturbating on live camera isn't worth $40 an hour, and some people are absolutely thrilled to make that in 2 hours let alone 1. Hourly prices go up, down, and stay stagnant often. Some days you'll make $7 an hour, other days you'll make $50+, just depends. By the excitement in your voice, we can tell that you're happy with $40 an hour, which is all that matters. Whether it lasts or not is entirely on your own hustle and whether you can maintain it or not, or even go beyond it. Good luck!

New model status lasts 30 days from when you're approved for the site (I think - it might be 30 days from your first broadcast) and it's so so helpful to work every day you can while that lasts. Dudes LOVE new models. And yeah, that's pretty good! That's about what I averaged on my first day, too. I agree 100% with kortney, though. It's super up and down and hit or miss and you just gotta work at it - same with running your own business of any kind. It's awesome that you made an amount you're happy with on your first day! And keep streaming! <3
I am extremely satisfied -- I worked another hour and and totaled 115 dollars. I'm used to working crappy customer service jobs and with minimum wage where I'm at being 7.25. Three hours of work would have gotten me about 20 dollars! I feel empowered that I can work as hard or long as I want to and actually make enough money to provide for myself. I'm glad streamate leaves the new model tag up - would you all say that regular customers stick with you and provide you with pretty good funds?
It depends entirely on the regular! I have some regs that have stuck with me for the entire four years I have been camming, then there are others that come around a lot and spend for a month or two before they either move on to another model or stop spending on cams all together.
Some customers don't even keep regular girls and are all about the variety.
There's a lot of "fresh" traffic on SM so I find that I'm not very reliant on regs for the most part!
Well, I guess I spoke to soon. I had a REALLY bad day yesterday. I worked nearly 6 hours and only got $80...the traffic in my room has slowed down exponentially. Does having a really good cam truly help you make more money? I'm also having a lot of trouble with dudes thinking that I should dirty talk to them in public and tell me what they are going to do to me, but won't take me to private. Haha. This are probably normal problems but it is frustrating...

You basically need to be on regularly for about 30 to 90 days to see if camming is worth it for you. The more you are on the more chances you have to make money.
Law of averages basically.
You can't really celebrate until you've been on a full month.

Haha, I remember that "holy shit!" feeling. I made $42 my first hour on Streamate. I thought I'd died and gone to heaven. My advice, treat it like a serious job, stay consistent and try to work regular hours. Don't worry too much about how much you're making from hour to hour. Some days will be really shitty, some days will be incredible. Hopefully it'll average out to an hourly amount that you're happy with. But it's a business, you have to work at it. It really isn't "easy money", even if it does feel that way sometimes. Foster good relationships with your regulars and make yourself available at the same time every day (or as regularly as you can) so they know when you'll be online. Also, branching out into clips and/or Skype shows helps a lot to pick up the slack when SM is sucking (which it often is). Good luck!
