Idk, Frank Zappa named his kids Moon Unit & Dweezil. Another actor I can't think of, name his son Jet Pilot. Maybe that's his real name, & it just 'reads' bad?^
    Also, there's unusual regular names..
My ex was a teacher, he worked for a principal name Jim Shorts, & had a student name Jesus Balls. I swear, I'm not making this up.
There was a lady in TX called Ima Hogg. All I can think of for now.

There was a lady in TX called Ima Hogg. All I can think of for now.
Ima Hogg (July 10, 1882 – August 19, 1975), known as "The First Lady of Texas",[1] was an American philanthropist, patron and collector of the arts, and one of the most respected women in Texas during the 20th century.[2] Hogg was an avid art collector, and owned works by Picasso, Klee, and Matisse, among others. Hogg donated hundreds of pieces of artwork to Houston's Museum of Fine Arts and served on a committee to plan the Kennedy Center in Washington, D.C. An enthusiastic collector of early American antiques, she also served on a committee tasked with locating historical furniture for the White House. She restored and refurbished several properties, including the Varner plantation and Bayou Bend, which she later donated to Texas arts and historical institutions who maintain the facilities and their collections today. Hogg received numerous awards and honors, including the Louise E. du Pont Crowninshield Award from the National Trust for Historic Preservation, the Santa Rita Award from the University of Texas System, and an honorary doctorate in fine arts from Southwestern University.

The Quackenbush rifle, invented by industrialist Henry M. Quackenbush, is a clever but cheaply made "Boys' rifle" sold in large numbers in the 1893-1920 period, along with several models of air guns.
    https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Quackenbush_rifle

Henry Marcus Quackenbush (April 27, 1847 – September 8, 1933), commonly called "H.M.", was an American inventor and industrialist who founded the H.M. Quackenbush Company[1] in Herkimer, New York. His company was widely known for its air rifles and for the invention of the metal, spring-jointed nutcracker.[2]

Theres actually a large family I know with the last name Hairy Chin. Interesting last names are still pretty common among some in the Native American community.

I know this is fictional (from the TV show "The Drew Carey Show"), but it this makes me a laugh after all these years:

If he spelled it phonetically there would be no issue. We have a lot of Vietnamese in Portland and Phuc is a very common name. It's pronounced like "Foo". This man's full name is pronounced Foo Da Bee.

I have no idea why Vietnamese names and words, when written in English, have such non-phonetic translations. Vietnamese letters are nothing like English letters, so it's not like writing something in French, where the letters are practically the same.

My grandmother's maiden name was Booze. Not joking. I don't think my family was in any way related to the Tennessee Booze's. The Booze's from Tennessee were such large producers of hard liquor in the early days of America, their name became synonymous with hard liquor. Jack Daniels eventually bought out the Tennessee Booze liquor distillery. There's your alcoholic trivia for today.

Yeah, I was thinking....isn't Phuc a pretty common name in that language/culture? I used to work with a guy named Phuc.

Side note: I saw on the article that Facebook was giving a hard time to some woman named Isis as well. That sucks for her, as it's her given name.....but recently I worked with a dancer whose *stage name* was Isis. Uhh yeah, might wanna change that ASAP....

I went to school with ppl who had the last names Woodcock and Sidebottom-no joke. Poor kids .

Often the "funny names" are funny in English, but mean nothing amusing or offensive in the culture they originate from i.e. Wang.
It's also an era thing. When you read novels with names like "Dick" and "Fanny" it's hilarious, but it probably wasn't even slang when the pieces were written etc. As for celebrities naming their kids stupid things-it would be a minor form of child abuse if a regular person did it lol.

My great-grandmother and sisters had strange goth and dark names even by today standard's. They lived out in South America's very Catholic and conservative countryside and they just did not give a fuck. I would not name my little girls Twilight or Blackness but I am not them. Starlight and Stardust would be not bad. However, they did give them real middle names such as Maria, Belen, and etc.. Everyone just used their middle names. My great-grandmother and her sisters was named :Crepúsculo=Twilight,Luz de las estrellas=Starlight,Negrura=Blackness,Matadora, Nebulosa=Stardust, and etc... I am glad that my great-grandmother changed her name because being named Crepúsculo must suck. Plus she had a brother named Vacío Sacramento =Empty Sacrament. Imagine being called that in a very Catholic and conservative country. I would love to see some gothic chick name their son Empty Sacrament now

Isis (/ˈaɪsɪs/; Ancient Greek: Ἶσις IPA: [îː.sis]; original Egyptian pronunciation more likely "Aset" or "Iset"[1]) is a goddess from the polytheistic pantheon of Egypt. She was first worshiped in Ancient Egyptian religion, and later her worship spread throughout the Roman empire and the greater Greco-Roman world. Isis is still widely worshiped by many pagans today in diverse religious contexts; including a number of distinct pagan religions, the modern Goddess movement, and interfaith organizations such as the Fellowship of Isis.

Maybe not so much "weird" as absurdly cool: DC Comics super-villain Vandal Savage is now being played by an actor named...

    Casper Crump.

Casper Crump. Doesn't that sound like a great super-villain name by itself? Alliteration and everything...
