I use & like Trader Joe's unscented deodorant, it's for sensitive skin, alum. paraben free. If there's no TJ's by u, try Welleda (Whole Foods), http://www.theorganicpharmacy.com, or, totally different site: http://www.organicpharmacy.com
Also, some organic magazines, I don't know titles but check ur library or Barnes & Noble

Idk if it's good because I haven't tried it (yet) but I've saved a recipe for a home made deodorant that others have said works great, at least there are no chemicals in it so I guess it could be worth a try?
Equal parts of:
- corn starch
- baking soda
- coconut oil
- cocoa butter
And if you want you can add a few drops of something else for fragrance for example tea tree oil.

http://www.thankyourbody.com/homemad...ensitive-skin/ here's a simple recipe with coconut oil which is anti-bacterial and some essential oils

I see ur in LA, I know there's an Organic Pharmacy store there, & I'm sure lotsa places that would have cool stuff.![]()

Could there be something else causing the eczema?

I could see the deodorant partly to cause the eczema - especially those fragranced ones. If it's not a natural fragrance or unscented then it could be an irritant.

I have the stinkiest armpit ever! I tried many deodorants nothing helped, natural ones made even worse smell.
But i saw natural recipy with coconut as above, but corn starch really turned me off. Corn starch must be organic or non and i had really big inflamation under my armpits so no way im goint to feed patogents with startch. So i tried just 2 spoons of baking soda and melted coconut oil maybe 3 spoons. And ......works the best! Im so happy i dont smell like a skunk anymore! I have it in a glass jar and after shower i just scoop a lil and rub on my arpit. 24 hours without smell.
Im looking also into natural parfume such as this one http://www.rich-hippie.com/eau_de_parfum_63740840.html
I dont like commercial parfume, it is toxic. We have in our everyday life 10000 of different toxins plus patogents and mold. Im not going to over load my liver with more toxins.
I threw out all of my antiperspirant and I've felt so much better since then. It was hard for a while having to kick the habit of using deodorant to control heavy sweating, but I found coconut oil works just as good..if not better!
Well, if that sweat will not come out it will stay inside of you..does not sound sexy to me.

So I tried out some of your advice and made a small batch of coconut oil + baking soda + corn starch + vanilla (for scent) and it's worked really well all day! I might end up just making this from now on because it's so much cheaper. I don't really sweat very much, even when I exercise, so I can't attest to how well it works as an antiperspirant, but it's certainly keeping me smelling good.

I used to use this company when I was heavy into working out and it worked if not better than your average deodorant. I stopped ordering it only because it would get inconvenient not being able to pick it up at the store and having to order it online. Here's the link: http://primalpitpaste.com/deodorant/

Have you tried Nullo? It's an internal deodorant and works WONDERS. I've been using it for years. Here's the amazon link
I like the liquid Crystal. http://www.gnc.com/Crystal-Body-Deod...a=pla_19513577
that one. It is great for average everyday but not enough if I had a heavy garlic meal![]()

Whatever deodorant you try (pre-made or DIY), keep in mind the pH of skin (on average, 4.7) Baking soda has a pH of 9, which is extremely irritating.
I'll be trying to make this one soon: http://www.mommypotamus.com/natural-...ensitive-skin/ (Scroll down for the "Sensitive Skin" option)
Also, not a replacement for deodorant but very, very cool: http://motherdirt.com/
It's a pro-biotic spray that uses ammonia-oxidizing bacteria. I plan on using it under my deodorant, as well as on other areas that tend to get sweaty (you can use your imagination here, ahah.) I think it'll also be awesome to use in between hair washings.
I was watching Shark Tank the other day and 2 ladies pitched them their product called Piperwai which is an all natural deodorant made with activated charcoal. It apparently works extremely well, I would have ordered it but I had already stocked up on my deodorants when they went on sale the other day. Currently I'm using Toms of Maine but I buy whatever natural deodorant goes on Sale.
Bicarb soda......I apply it with a makeup brush. It is fantastic post exercise, as when you apply it, it immediately omits odours. It can sting initially depending on your skin pH, so it is advisable to slowly build up the application of it over time. It is fantastic as it allows the skin to still breathe!

I changed to natural years ago, it was an interesting experience ... although many of the things I experienced, I came to find out, are incredibly common. From what science there is, it appears that the strong chemical and aluminum based deodorants most people wear, open up the underarm ecosystem for other, smellier germs to move in. It's like the red queen, keep wearing stronger and stronger products, get smellier and smellier underarm germs, until many people end up having to wear those insane system clinical strength aluminum-based products. A recent study showed that people who wear mainstream products have a more diverse underarm ecosystem, and in this case, more diverse is bad, it means more smellier germs joining your natural ecosystem; it's proven people with less diversity under there smell far less (they've even done underarm ecosystem transplants that de-stunk someone who smelled!)
Anyway, after getting smellier and smellier as I got older, I switched to naturals, and now I sometimes don't even smell when I wake up the morning, which is practically a miracle. But, that came with some trial and error. Almost everyone's first few weeks on natural deodorants is a bit of a trial, plan to apply at least twice a day as your natural germs take back over. The other common experience is that you try a natural deodorant, it works for a day or two, then all of a sudden you're back in full stink again -- we think that's because the natural deodorant controlled a dominant smelly germ, but some other smelly germ it didn't control has now bloomed. Sometimes, using two different natural deodorants controls this perfectly -- I often put on 2 in the morning.
Two more quick notes:
1. Baking soda's most important impact is that it changes the Ph of the underarm and makes it a less hospitable place for germs. But if you are sensitive to it, too much baking soda can irritate your armpits. So if this happens, go with a low- or no-baking-soda deodorant
2. Some natural ingredients can irritate different people. Besides baking soda, some essential oils can irritate some people.
Okay, so here's a recommendation. Bubble & Bee is natural, their deodorants are low-baking-soda (low enough that they won't irritate you even if you're sensitive) and they work on me, a guy who used to stink pretty bad. Recommend you pick up:
1. Pit Primer, a witch hazel based liquid that really does clean your underarm well and make your deodorant last longer http://bubbleandbee.com/pit-primer/
2. Any of the creams whose smell you like, or pick up the trial pack (they also have sticks and sprays, but start with the creams, which are the most effective IMO): http://bubbleandbee.com/organic-deodorant-creams/ The almond coconut works crazy good on me, and I dig the smell.
Remember your first 2 weeks will be by far the worst, but if you make it through, you'll come out the other side far less smelly. If the above recommendations don't work for you, try adding a second deodorant, with different ingredients (to control different types of germs), just for now until things are controlled. Good luck!
Oh wow nice info. I used to smell way to bad, i thought cuz i ate not so good or liver does not detox well. I tried natural deo from Tom's of maine i think and wow smell was so intoxicating that i got dizzy from my own smell.
I tried crystal deo, and it was working at first and after stopped.
Coconut oil + soda works just fine.
I think smell also depends on immune system.

Yep, incredibly common, maybe near-universal experience, when you start experimenting with naturals. I always keep my deodorants that do that, because as I said above, sometimes I can pair it with a different deodorant, and between the two I'll get fantastic coverage. I don't personally do the crystal style deodorants, for a number of reasons, but on general principle, I don't throw out my deodorants that work at first and then stop working.I tried crystal deo, and it was working at first and after stopped.
I don't wear deodorant at all anymore. Ever since supplementing with enough magnesium, my body stopped needing deodorant.
I have heard good things about Lush The Guv'ner, (made for men but great for women too, it has baking soda/charcoal formula and you need a powder brush), and Lavilin 72-Hour Stick Deodorant.

I recently discovered Bubble & Bee! http://bubbleandbee.com/organic-deodorant/ USDA-certified organic, and U.S.-made. They have a "sensitive" option free of baking soda.

Big fan of that place also, obviouslyThe thing about B&B is that they know what they're doing. I'm sensitive to baking soda, many natural deodorants give me a rash because of it. But B&B keeps the amount of baking soda down low enough that I don't get a rash from their products, even though there's enough that their products still work; seems like many other companies just pack their stuff with huge amount of baking soda.
I've also tried B&B's sensitive no-baking-soda options, and like them. Just found that I didn't have to go that route

I'm really glad they do that, and that it works for you!The owner, Stephanie, runs http://chemicaloftheday.squarespace.com so they are definitely delightfully science/evidence-based! I'm planning on trying their sensitive one once I run out, & your review's encouraging

Lafe's natural deodorant (roll-on in Fresh) is amazing. I've been using it for years now.
I'm vegan, so I am gradually switching over all of my cosmetics / hygiene products to natural, cruelty-free brands. I haven't had much luck with natural deodorants and I've tried a few (Tom's of Maine, Kiss My Face, and Adama Minerals). I'm going to try the coconut oil and baking soda mixture. Maybe the answer has been in my kitchen all this time ....![]()
