Default WINNING the War Against Hate THANKSGIVING TWIST!

We the peaceful can/do win against the domestic terrorists in our midst. Here's a thread to celebrate progress!

FORT WORTH (AP) — More than 70 white supremacists who are members of the Aryan Brotherhood of Texas have been imprisoned as part of a years-long federal effort to weaken the gang known for killings, robberies and other crimes.
The Fort Worth Star-Telegram reports the incarcerations include five generals, the brotherhood's highest rank. But the August conviction of James Lemarc Byrd in Tarrant County was considered by prosecutors as a major takedown.
Byrd rose to prominence within the gang during his previous time in federal prison, where he ordered inmates stabbed.
Southern Poverty Law Center fellow Mark Potok said the Aryan Brotherhood had grown into one of the most dangerous and racist prison gangs in Texas.
Potok said the group "made a practice of being as scary as humanly possible."

Samantha Hulsey, and her girlfriend Daira Hopwood were the victims of “a transphobic attack,” said Hulsey’s friend Rae Raucci via Facebook.

Raucci, a transgender woman, law student and activist, was with Hulsey on January 3, when Hulsey was stabbed multiple times by a man as they exited a San Francisco Municipal Railway bus in the city’s Civic Center neighborhood.

The woman threw a cup of hot coffee on them, and the man punched Hulsey in the face, at least twice, according to Raucci.

A passing San Francisco police officer was hailed down and arrested the suspects, Raucci said.

Kemp was arrested on suspicion of aggravated assault likely to cause great bodily injury, conspiracy, criminal threats, with hate crime enhancements, as well as a parole violation, police said.

Westover was arrested for aggravated assault with a deadly weapon other than a firearm, battery and conspiracy with hate crime enhancements, as well as for being a person convicted of a felony in possession of pepperspray.

San Francisco Mayor Ed Lee expressed his frustration with the attack and condemned the hatred and intolerance that is believed to have been behind it:

There is never an excuse for violence in our communities, and while much progress has been made in the last decade to advance transgender rights, anti-transgender violence sadly still exists.”

The January attack led to the arrest of San Francisco resident Brodes Wayne Joynes.

Police said that stabbing occurred at Van Ness Avenue between Golden Gate Avenue and Turk Street.

The victims were sitting toward the back of a bus when a man approached them, police said.

Raucci said the man harassed them repeatedly and called the pair derogatory names.

    Raucci wrote in January:

“We were both on the bus together when a man across the way accused us both of defrauding him by pretending to be female.”

The pair then decided to get off the bus to get away from him, but the man also got off the bus brandishing a knife, Raucci wrote.

Raucci said that the man then stabbed Hulsey twice in the upper chest.

Hulsey was transported to San Francisco General Hospital with stab wounds, where she received 10 stitches, according to Raucci.

Joynes was arrested at the scene following the attack and was booked into jail on an outstanding warrant, two counts of aggravated assault and two counts of criminal threats with a hate crime enhancement, according to MacDonald.

San Francisco District Attorney’s Office spokesman Max Szabo said back in January that Joynes is facing charges of attempted murder, assault with a deadly weapon, battery with serious bodily injury, two counts of criminal threats and false imprisonment, with hate crime enhancement allegations on all charges.

San Francisco District Attorney George Gascon released a statement condemning that first attack, saying:

“A hate crime is not just an attack on the victim, it’s also an attack on our community and the values we embrace as San Franciscans.”

Gascon vowed to prosecute Joynes aggressively.

If convicted of all the charges filed against him, Joynes could be sentenced to life in prison.

Justice Pending on Elder Abuse Case:

SEATTLE — William Wingate is a 70-yr-old retired Air Force veteran.

Because he is elderly, he uses a golf club as a cane to help him stand.

He has been using his golf club for more than a decade to assist himself on his daily walks.

All of that changed when Officer Cynthia Whitlach saw William with his club and decided to use force against him.

The entire event was caught on her dashcam video.

Officer Whitlach is seen pulling her patrol car over next to William.

She exits her vehicle and begins screaming at William to “drop the golf club.”

William maintains his cool and explains to her that he’s been using it as a cane regularly.

Officer Whitlach continued to repeat “set the golf club down!”

William, sensing that the Officer was out of control, asked for witnesses to watch the encounter.

That is when Officer Whitlach can be heard on the video saying that William was “swinging his club at her.”

But William never once swung his club at her in the video.

“You just swung that golf club at me,” Whitlach screams.

    William replies, “No I didn’t.”

“It’s like, c’mon lady. You were lying,” said former Democratic Washington State representative Dawn Mason, questioning Officer Whitlach’s assertion that she felt threatened by the golf club. Dawn became involved in the case when she witnessed the mistreatment of William on the video.

Officer Whitlach has not been disciplined since the event occurred, but was instead given counseling by her supervisor.

William, on the other hand — an innocent man who fought for Officer Whitlach’s freedom — was locked in a King County cage for a night for “obstruction” and “harassment,” according to reports.

William has filed a lawsuit against the city.

In the trial of serial rapist ex-cop Daniel Holtzclaw—a man who took an extraordinarily evil bet on America’s disenfranchisement of poor black women, to the point of regularly pulling them over and raping them on the street—some took note of the fact that he was facing an all-white jury and had an attorney who suggested his victims had an “agenda,” and concluded that we might as well prepare for the worst.

Then, last night, after over 45 hours of jury deliberations, the judge read the Holtzclaw announcement on a live stream: 18 out of 36 counts of sexual assault is better than what I expected, if fewer than what that piece of shit deserved.

In a recent investigation, the AP identified over 1,000 police officers in America who’d lost their badges over a six-year period for rape, sodomy and assault. Holtzclaw is just one of these officers. He remained on the force for months after his first accusation, from a woman who he’d misjudged as the type who’d be too afraid to talk.

His verdict is a triumph for poor women with criminal records who, until now, might have fundamentally and truly expected that if a cop raped them, they wouldn’t be believed. I expected the verdict itself to be the most difficult thing to swallow last night; instead, the sight of him sobbing, convicted of half his alleged crimes, shaking like a child who’d been betrayed by his assumed protectors, will never scrub out of my mind. http://jezebel.com/sobbing-daniel-ho...his-1747517789

Witness him silently ask the jury how they could do this—or, by another reading, say despite everything that “he didn’t do this”—and it’s impossible not to be reminded of the fact that, if just a few things were different, Holtzclaw’s blind, childish, sociopathic trust in the system might have been exactly right.

^ I watched them read all the charges in court on Youtube and he cries like a baby. As if anyone has any sympathy for him! I thought he looked so smug in trial before this as if he figured he wouldn't be convicted. I mean I didn't think he would be convicted since there was an all white jury and cops always go free.. so I'm glad he's going to prison for life!

I bet there's gonna be a Lifetime movie on all of this soon lol.

Yes it was nice watching that smug look leave his face I think he was legitimately surprised by getting prison time! But finally someone in law enforcement is paying for their crimes.
