    Default "puppy eye" makeup

so I'm a devotee of a lot of Korean/asian makeup staples like soft straight eyebrows, dewy skin, flushed cheeks, gradient lips, etc ( not sure how i feel about the whole puffy eye bags trend lol) and i just discovered "puppy eyes"..pretty much the opposite of the classic cat eye ( which i am kinda over at this point. bla). anybody ever done this? i feel like it could backfire easily, and might depend on the shape of your eye. it basically just makes them look big, slightly down-turned and soulful . yay, nay? .fb3b27c863303c9a9c90eeddae202cb4.jpg

I like it. I always thought down-turned eyes are cute.

ok so i just tried it, and i love it!! the trick is blending and using a pencil and/or eyeshadow to make it look very soft, muted, and matte. soft lighter colors like a brown.. black is too harsh unless you have more dramatic coloring. another trick i learned is, when lining the outer corner of your eye for this look, don't go any further than where your iris starts. tight lining the upper lash line is better if you can't get a thin enough line.
this is just a whole different look than the cat eye, it makes a huge difference!! made my eyes look very round, and my eyes are as small as most asian girls. cat eye seems to elongate and slim the eye, this one opens it up

Hmm, hadn't heard of this, but maybe I'll try it. I def. have small, narrowish eyes.

I think this would amplify my bitchy resting face.

its definitely not something you wanna pair with kardashian-esque makeup, i.e. matte red lip, strong arching brows, heavy contour, etc. but it actually makes the eyes look "sweeter" in a way. idk, I'm wicked excited i discovered it for my eye shape anyways haha

ahahahaha. Oh god. I can't even imagine how bad that would look.
I'm all about this eye-makeup though. It's very young and cute if paired with the right brow/lip. I don't do it quite like in this picture, though. I blend that style with a style like this because it's better for my eyes to get that effect:

Big thumbs up from me though.

It looks beautiful on hooded eyes whether they are asian or not, as long as you have a neutral or positive canthal tilt (tilted up at the edges). But if you have typical caucasian eyes and a negative canthal tilt it can make your eyes look droopy at the edges instead of youthful and cute. It makes sense that it works best for asian anatomy!

Most makeup styles popular in Asian countries are like this. It doesn't mean you can't pull them off... it only means you often have to first use makeup to adjust the shape of your eyes visually before applying makeup in your desired style.

It sounds strange but I often find for people with a very negative canthal tilt, staring with a cat eye or similar style to visually lift the outer corner of the eye gives them a better base to do this sort of style. Because it visually gives a better idea where to apply this makeup on themselves rather than simply mimicking the picture exactly.

I do mine like this, though I didn't know there was a name for it. My eyes are small and kind of slanted/almond shaped so I try to make them look bigger. I also do white liner on the lower waterline to open them up. When I wore like this at the club guys would say I look more innocent/girl next door.
