Default Canadians working in the US?

    Hi all,

long time reader, first time poster here.

I tried searching on google and on here but couldn't find an answer so I'm hoping someone can help me out.

I'm interested in becoming a dancer but I don't want to locally. A friend who lives in Vegas suggested that I could come down and work couple weekends a month, as he's a promoter at a nightclub so he has contacts in the industry but even he is unaware how a Canadian can go about working in Vegas.

Does anybody here have first hand knowledge or know what direction to point me in?

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

    Thanks in advance!

Edit* found some answers in other threads but they are a few years old. Wondering if that information is still current?

Chris from Sin City Entertainment has told me in the past that he can set up contracts for working in Vegas. I am also a Canadian citizen. I've never worked with this agency so I can't vouch for them but maybe its a good place to start?

    Good luck!

I've contacted Chris and he seems to have the info I'm looking for.

    Thanks so much!

You're going to be SOL on dancing in Vegas. You can't legally dance in the USA in general -- they don't have working holiday or dancer visas -- though it's doable in cities without licensing since there's usually a club or manager out there willing to look the other way. Vegas requires a business license and sheriffs card though, and you can't get those without the legal right to work.

As a heads up, Sin City Entertainment is basically telling you to work illegally. They aren't offering work visas -- the info on their website is only about tourist visas, which you're not allowed to work on. So, again, you can probably find a club to work at in a city without licensing (such as Myrtle Beach, which SCE is promoting), but that won't be possible in Vegas.
