    Default Dance Prices

I tried looking for a thread on this, but I couldn't find one! So from everything I've read, strippers are independent contractors, which means that I would get to set my own prices. I've also seen, though, basically everywhere, that the club determines prices for basically everything (dances, VIP, CR). This has me kind of confused, I'll be honest.

I did see somewhere that a girl said she would do basically an air dance for the lowest price, topless for $10 more, allow two-way contact for an additional charge, and so on... so basically there was the $20 dance that the club advertised and then her own 'special' dance that customers could pay $40 to get. Are clubs alright with this? What if it's a club where the house gets a cut of your dances, would you have to give them a larger cut since you're charging twice as much? Is this pretty common, or is this something I would only be able to do if the other girls do it too? I can't imagine that guys would pay $40 for a dance other girls are offering for only $20, unless you somehow make yourself seem more expensive/desirable/what have you than the other girls.

As long as management doesn't care, you can charge whatever you want. Some clubs are strict about this though (I've seen places with signs up telling customers to inform management if they've been charged >$20).

Theoretically no, they don't get a higher cut. If the customer wants to 'tip' you more for extra contact or something, that's not the club's money.

You're right that it's hard to sell it that way. If you're insanely hot and the other girls aren't, you can usually get away with it; I think guys expect that the hot girls won't have to 'work as hard'.

If it's not against the rules and I can find something to make my charging double 'worth it' to customers, should I try it? Or are there downsides I'm not considering?

Cheap customers that want the cheapest prices. At my club I can get away charging extra (in the form of a tip) for contact with my breasts because I have the biggest ones in the joint. I still have customers that will decline and only get 1 dance because I won't let them touch for free like the last chick he got a dance with.

Although you're technically an independent contractor, you'll find that it's not uncommon for clubs to not treat you as such 100%. Prices are often set by the club, and while you can totally get away with overcharging in some clubs, others take a rather dim view to it.

If you are the only one overcharging and pricing is fairly standard in your area, you're also fighting an uphill battle and could be turning many guys off right off the bat -- and you really have to be upfront about your prices if you're overcharging, because the club will likely side with the customer if he doesn't find out until the end that you want more.

That's not to say you shouldn't charge that you want to, because whether you'll be successful or not it really depends on the club culture and its clientele, but just because you want to charge $x per song, doesn't mean you'll be able to in all clubs.

It sounds like you haven't actually started dancing yet, so there's not much sense in overthinking this just yet. Find a club and start. See what the prices are, see if it's against the rules and how much, see if other ladies charge more, and then experiment with offering more expensive dances. Maybe you'll be able to charge the vast majority of customers your preferred price, maybe you'll only be able to get away with it with out of towners, or maybe you'll be stuck charging the price the club has set. The only way to find out is to start dancing though!

I actually abhor setting my own dance prices. The only time I've ever worked in a club where this was common was in Tucson, and I did not know how to handle it. When your dance prices aren't fixed, it's much easier to settle for lower prices the second a customer starts hemming and hawing, which leaves you with less money. I know it's possible to work this way without lowering your prices, but it's an extremely easy thing to do when you see a sales opportunity start to slip away from you. I mean, you'd rather make some money off of him than no money, right? "You don't have $40? Okay, how about $20?" Then you suddenly have to give him that price every time he comes in, and you've given yourself an 'out' rather than pushing yourself to improve your sales strategy.

Some girls absolutely flourish in clubs where they can set their own prices. I am not one of them.

I think there are many, many benefits to club-wide prices. It helps train customers to only come in when they can spend money on dances, and it keeps the playing field even for your fellow saleswomen. I could go on and on about the benefits. But suffice to say, while we can technically set our own prices because we're ICs, this practice is relatively uncommon and, I believe, disadvantageous.

If you're looking for cherries on top and you think you can get away with asking for them (i.e. if you work in a club with a higher volume of new customers), ask for tips after your dances instead of raising the base price. That's just what I would do. That said, if you look like Gisele and can get away with charging $100/dance, go for it, girlie!

Depends on the club. The vast majority I've worked around here have their prices posted, so you're not going to be able to charge more- especially because we're a no contact area, so nothing to really upsell.

What you can do in every club is make sure you get tipped after your dances- it adds up very quickly and it's way more likely to go over well than trying to sell dances at double what the other girls are charging.

As Shanna said, in a lot of clubs you're a contractor in name only- with the amount of rules you have to follow you really end up being more like an employee.
