MANY MEN WANTED TO LAY ME DOWN, BUT FEW WANTED TO LIFT ME UP
-Eartha Kitt
I took an Afro studies class years ago ad one thing we watched and learned was how there aren't any movies where African Americans play a role where they are in need of help or get a hand out. I think there are getting to be more roles like that such as the powerful Viola Davis character in How to Get Away With Murder or Scandal things like that but there aren't any movies where blacks aren't the ones with any issues.
Aside from that I love Whats Love Got to Do with it with Angela Bassett, she ate the cake but she wasnt having it by the end of that film. I like the movies where the women have a good paying job and don't need a man but run across someone Morris Chestnut type, like Brown Sugar, I even liked Guess Who with Ashton Kutcher and Zoe Saldana.

We need this film to be released!

The Fits (2015) dir. Anna Rose Holmer, haven't seen it, but looks good, about a young black lady joining a dance troupe.
