    Default Any vanilla entrepreneurs here?

I'm really curious if any of you ladies also have started any main stream businesses.
I've been considering starting a business as an Amazon.com FBA seller.

If you also own a main stream business I would love to hear about your experience with it.

Feel free to include links to any of your online stores etc. I really like learning about other entrepreneurs work and supporting small businesses.

I have a few vanilla businesses. One of them is as an FBA seller. If you can figure out a product to sell it is the easiest thing in the world. It is amazing passive income. Finding a product is the hard part. I can't recommend it enough. I am not going to post links to my stores or tell you what the product is because I don't want to flood the market but I am happy to answer any questions you have.

Yes, I have a couple of them. It's my cover for friends and family, but they do make money. The cover is why I can't put links here.

That's awesome! I'm glad to hear it's working out for you. I've heard that "private labeling" an item can be a good idea. Have you tried this approach or do you mainly stick to selling already existing brands?

It really depends on what you are selling. I import from overseas for one business and use my own brand. However, I don't think it is necessary. In the future, I won't pay to have my own labels posted/sewn on the merchandise. It costs extra and I don't really think it is necessary. However, it really depends on what you are selling.

Thank you for your input. If you don't mind me asking, what categories do you sell in? I was thinking of selling in
"Pet" and the "fitness/health" related categories.

    Same here.

I believe you have to discover the niche that works for you through your own research and trial and error. Once you list in same categories, you become the potential competitor.

I do eBay and used to do amazon FBA. I stopped because I didn't have a huge number of things to send in, or one product. I got all of my products from clearance/retail arbitrage and thrifting. FBA wasn't worth it for me once I calculated fees, shipping etc. I found I had a higher ROI on the kinds of items I was selling on ebay. I also feel I have more control over my eBay store with photography and the way I market my stuff. Amazon seemed to be a lot of people just undercutting each other ("the race to the bottom") unless you have your own product. Also Amazon limits what you can sell and you have to get approved to sell in certain categories. If you go FBA I'd recommend getting wholesale products to flip. Ebay is better if you're more interested in selling clothes, vintage, or used things. I've also dabbled in etsy making and selling jewelry.

I'm starting a small business in partnership with a dear friend from school who is revamping her business. It's a creative industry that we both have a passion for and we are adding others onto our "team" from the school we both attended.

I've owned a small business since I was 19. I did a version of it for 12 years which sounds SO LONG typing it out . I'm in a different area and have a new arm of the business ( same industry but slightly different services offered ) and a fresh re-brand. I am doing everything RIGHT with the new brand that took me trial and error with the old one. I operate under a team model where I'm mostly assigning projects out ( this is what is different than last year , last year they knew they were getting ME, this year they are getting the service with any team members on the job ).

    THE DARK SIDE :
Sometimes it drives me crazy. Some of the things that drive me crazy currently are: lack of privacy (I'm in a phase where I'd prefer just to not have any pictures of me out / any social media etc., but you can't do that as an owner because people won't trust you ), people not understanding what they are getting even though we try our best to be very clear, and just the occasional fear that we could get another crazy slipping through our screening ( we had two totally nutty customers last year which cost me money but no bad reviews thankfully ). Also .... I slipped into a phase of working from home too much and developed some mental problems from this . I've since realized this is my own fault for doing that and now am self banned from the house during certain hours and actively get out into coffee shops. I'm even looking into a co-working space .

    THE GOOD SIDE :
I do this because of flexibility with scheduling mostly . I've always been obsessed with " beating " the American system of only getting two weeks a year off. I can work part time from anywhere as long as I have my eye on things. Even as a kid, I had multiple small businesses and always had some sort of " hustle ".

****(PLEASE DON'T QUOTE ANY OF THIS , for privacy I need to be a little vague but you can PM if you want to know my industry )*****

As a side note ..... so much in small business is parallel with being a successful sex worker ( since basically , we are ALL small biz owners ). You need to learn how to get maximize payoff with minimal energy and develop fast systems to sell the same things over and over .

Hey, I'm trying to get into that too! *high five* I've been watching globalvoodoo's YouTube videos about being an Amazon FBA seller. https://www.youtube.com/user/globalvoodoo

In fact, as I type this, I'm watching a YouTube video of some other guy talking about Amazon FBA.

There is also some info about Amazon FBA on the Real Ways to Earn blog (a blog with work from home job listings and an e-mail newsletter you can sign up for).

^Globalvoodoo is good. I also watched Cody Hawk (when I still did FBA) and Raiken Profits. There's tons of good info for free on the net.

I think I want to return to FBA with wholesale or my own product. Found this great article on importing from China for re-sell:

^^^ This! The most important thing to realize is nothing happens till the sale. Sex workers are so far ahead of their 'vanilla' contemporaries because they know how to sell. The only caution is to not 'over sell' in the vanilla world, i.e. not promise more than the product delivers.

I have a question about Amazon FBA. I see in their requirements that they DON'T want their sellers using inkjet printers to print labels. They want sellers using laserjet or thermal printers. My local UPS Store (which is within walking distance of me...convenient since I don't drive) offers printing services on a laserjet printer. Do you think I should I save up to buy a laserjet printer of my own (will be my first timing owning a LASERJET printer), or just start making regular trips to the UPS Store to use their laserjet printer?

I realize I'm also gonna need to purchase a shipping scale.

This is the printer I use:

    http://shop.usa.canon.com/shop/en/ca...black-wireless

They have never said anything about my labels. I have been using this printer for over a year.

You will definitely need a shipping scale though.

I have a business. I actually do really well which is why I haven't danced in about 5 or 6 years but I am going back. I can answer questions about incorporating, lic., insurance and that kind of stuff for several states if you need help with this.

In addition to being a fitness professional, I'm affiliated with two network marketing companies. They are both incredible. One is customized nutritional products the other is natural skin care with pro quality cosmetics. The cosmetics are actually used by pro MUAs. You're welcome to message me for info about them.

Update: I'm excited to have just placed my sample order for the product I will hopefully be selling on Amazon and perhaps my own online store if all goes well. It's a super elaborate and beautiful costume top that would be great for music festivals aswell as the stripclub. I just hope it looks as awesome in person as it does in the photos.
