Idk which websites you're talking about. Specifics would be nice. I've never been called by a cam site and I've been doing this for years if that's any help. C4u (clip site) is the only one I can think of that asks for a number, but they've never called to chat me up. Ever.

gmail, hotmail, and yahoo mail all are asking for numbers before they'll give me new email. I planned on signing up for the email with my camgirl name.

^^ No cam site has ever called me but Im sure if they did they did call some one they wouldnt use her cam girl name either. All contact I have with the camsites is through email. If your still worried just stick in an incorrect phone number and a correct email.

ETA. Just seeing this. Your first post did not specify that you didnt want to give a phone number to the EMAIL SITES!! lol. Again you can stick in a fake number if you want. Those sites arent going to call you either! They just text to the number.

Google (gmail) is a huuuge mega company and they pretty much know everything about everyone already

You could get a burner phone (super cheap flip phone) and add a few dollars of credit onto it and use that number?

I changed my phone number not long ago, is it a big deal if i use that one? I haven't gotten to the signing up for camsites yet, as i use my neighbors unblocked wifi for internet now and the signal is baaaaad. im hoping to get internet next month tho. Do camsites like SM and MFC ask for a number?

I created an email account this past weekend to use for camming with gmail. It asks you for a phone number, but you can choose to skip it/go to the next step without it.

you don't have to use a phone number to make a gmail. it's only for "extra" security.

secondly, stealing your neighbors wifi is a terrible idea for multiple reasons. I don't even mean in the moral "it's bad" sense... I mean, it's easy for anyone to get your info using an unsecured internet connection. heck, your neighbor could easily do so. Do you really want them knowing all your biz? It would be better to spend the $30 a month for a basic connection you can secure.

Lastly, you won't know if they'll ask for one until you sign up. some sites do, some don't. Allow me to reiterate that I've never been called by a cam site. ever. If you're really that worried about them having your number, maybe you should either a. not cam or b. get a throw away no contract phone. I'm leaning towards A seeing as you'd be using an unsecured network with a crap signal until you can get your own internet. You kind of need to accept the fact that cam sites will have your contact info if you sign up for them. SSN, address, copy of your id, phone number, ect. there's really no way around it.

Correct. We ask for it as part of our sign up process so we have a quick way to call our performers IF something is going terribly wrong. What would have to be wrong enough that we'd actually call you? In my book that's some (verified) government official wanting to get a hold of your 2257 information or perhaps, at a stretch, something going wrong with a payout request and your email is bouncing and we can't get a hold of you via other methods (here, twitter DM, etc).

But it would have to be a pretty extreme situation to have to actually call vs. a simple mail.

Use your real phone number when signing up for an email account. The only people who have access to it are the email company (Gmail, Yahoo etc), it doesn't show up on your emails or to your contacts or anything.

Recently my email account was hacked and I had an old phone number linked with it (for exactly the same security concerns as you), and the only way they would let me back into my email account was to send me a text (on that old number) with a verification code and have me enter the verification code. Because I no longer had access to this old phone number, I couldn't do it. So I was locked out of my work email account which i've been using for years and is my only way of contacting or receiving contact from all of my customers, cam sites, clip sites etc. I was locked out for three days and I cannot describe how it felt to be locked out, it was one of the most stressful things that's ever happened to me. Eventually their support got back to me (I emailed them asking for help) and asked me some questions and let me back into my account. The questions were really hard (what was the subject line of the last email you sent, what email addresses have you received emails from in the last week), I only knew the answers because I had some screenshots. If you don't know the answers, i'm guessing you'd lose access to your account forever.

So use your actual phone number because if you ever get locked out of your account, you'll need it. If you're really really worried about your privacy, get a cheap (i've bought one for £10 [$15]) burner phone only to use for email accounts.
