Default Standing up to sh*tty but powerful managers

When it gets down to it, how easy do you find it to stand up to powerful managers who have a lot of authority in the club? Not the ones who are outright, overt bullies, but the ones who appear great at first and give every impression of having your back, but in actual fact couldn't care less about you or any of the other dancers, do innappropriate things and try to subtly manipulate you and cover it up with charm.

Do you make it clear you see what the hell is going on and consider them weak and pathetic, or do you suck it up and accept it's a necessary evil?

I have had one of those completely rubbish days today and instead of making my point to the manager in question I burst into tears like an idiot. My heart is telling me to tell her I see what she's doing and that I despise her for it, but my head is telling me not to burn bridges.

    Happy dancing.

    xx

Try to kill her with kindness. Put on that gorgeous sweet smile and keep repeating what it is you need from her until you have flipped the scene. There is no reason why you can't manipulate her right back. Getting yourself worked up in front of her will only give her more ammunition. You don't want her knowing that she can have that effect on you. If she casually suggests something and butters it up with a compliment say "Awww thank you. You are so sweet to me, I wish I could do that for you, but ________." If she is asking you to lie, you can simply say that you would prefer if it didn't involve you, say you are there to make money for you and the club, and of course you wouldn't want to be the reason anything bad happened. Don't let her manipulate you, and don't let her push you. Be relentless and keep smiling. It will drive her insane, but make it nearly impossible for her to push you into a bad position. Good luck and stand your ground girl!

Yeah like what is she doing exactly? Most of the time no it doesn't pay to stand up to anyone in a power position if you want to keep making money there. In my situation, it was always DJ's or bouncers not necessary the managers. Everyone seems to have their handout and if you let anyone manipulate you, they'll just keep trying other shit.

I like MistressItalia's advice....in the end for most situations, being "sickly sweet" and not letting emotions get the better of you stops assholes in their tracks.
