Default saving up to move, but iffy of the dreaded "income verification"

So I'm tired of living in an apartment complex. My husband and I are saving up to move, and will probably be completely ready financially when taxes are here.
My husband has a decent job, about 8-9 hundred dollars every 2 weeks, legit paystubs, and a pay that does fluctuate more then 100 dollars, whenever it does. Easy enough, here's his last three months of stubs and the employers phone number to verify his employment.

Alright, then there's me. I haven't been doing this very long. And I don't pull anywhere near enough yet (that's just because I haven't put in that many hours, when I do get on, I make out pretty decent for the most part) that I would feel it would help our case as far as showing what we can afford. But it very well may take 6 months until we have all our ducks in line, at which point I honestly think I'll be doing pretty well.

So I guess you can see which bush I'm beating around. For those of you who have had this experience, did you use your caming check stubs? We're you successful on getting a place? What happens when they need to verify employment? About how much were the checks you did show for income verification, if you did so? (Please if you aren't comfortable answering, my apologies, feel free to ignore this question) when asked what it was you did, we're you outright with it or discreet? Or flat out lie? (Lol) anyone where you had been turned away because your employment?

were in CA and for a decent 2 bedroom it's going to be between 600 (if your LUCKY, and I mean L U C K Y) and 850, which the most we could afford a month as of right now.

And please anyone who has gone through moving into a new place having to use caming income as primary income source, let me know how.your experience went! Tips, what to say, how to word shit if it's just beat to be descreer, or if literally saying nothing at all and just using my husband's income info for a new place would be best. TIA, and i wasn't able to find anything on this when I searched the forum, so if there is please drop the link and I'll delete this thread.

I didn't move until 2 years after I started camming, so my situation may be a bit different but here is what I did.
-Showed my 1099s for both years. This really helps because when you tell landlords you work from home they can get a bit suspicious, tax documents are a good way to show that what you do is legit (also it's basically your employment verification).
-Showed all deposits into my account for the past 6 months (I don't get paper checks).
-Be discreet about what you do. I have NEVER had someone come right out and ask. When I submit my information, I just basically say "I'm self employed and work from home, here are my 1099s from years x and x, and here are all my payments from the last 6 months". If you make enough money, they honestly won't give a shit what you do as long as they know you can pay rent on time.
-Landlords are more likely to press you for more information about your employment if your earnings are meager, so if I were you I would buckle down and work my ass off for the next 6 months. Like I said, if they're impressed with what they see you're bringing in, they're less likely to ask questions.
-I have never been turned down for a place and have moved twice on camming income alone now.

Pretty much this. I've also moved twice since I started camming and it has never been an issue. Tell them you work for a streaming platform and keep it vague. For income verification you can go to your bank and have them print you a statement of deposits for the last 3-6 months or so and usually that will suffice, and/or furnish 1099s. Landlords just want to make sure you can pay the rent for the most part. Good luck!

Here's a thought. Use a fake income or employment company. I used one for a fake landlord reference due to a 5 year gap where I wasn't on a lease or anything. No one would rent to me. I paid $100 and the next place I applied approved me asap and I showed one week of direct deposits. Just Google fake landlord references or fake employment verification. It worked for me....

I recently moved to a place by myself, and the rent budget I gave myself based on my location and current earnings was $1000-1.5k a month. Found lots of places towards the mid-top of my price range, but almost all of them went through property management companies, who were really strict about income verification. They all wanted an insane amount of financial paperwork (taxes, bank statements, paystubs -- all going back several YEARS, because I told them I'm an independent contractor, not an employee). I had only been camming for about 1.5 years, and my income/taxes from the previous year was much lower than currently. So I tried to explain that and even showed them all my cam paychecks from this year/the past 6 months, which were stable and proved I made more than enough to cover rent... and I still got turned down. Some people might be particularly strict about proving that your household income is at least 3 times the rent, so if your rent budget is 650-800, then you may need to show that you and your husband make at least $2000-2400/month together.

My advice (based on my experience, YMMV) is to try to find a place where you can rent directly from the landlord/owner, not through any kind of rental company. It was harder to find a place that was privately owned, but I did, and then it was a lot easier to explain my situation to the landlord. He was fine with just seeing some recent bank statements, which showed my savings and my paycheck deposits, and then I signed a lease almost right away.

    Good luck!
