Duh I'm fat and desperate, need help

Hi all I feel bad starting a thread to ask for advice when I haven't posted here in forever, but here goes.

I'm starting back dancing full time, got hired and worked today. I had a good shift (I'm a hustler) but I know my body looks like shit, especially compared to all these girls with hot bodies floating around. When I dance I like to maintain my weight at 115. Like an idiot, I have let me weight get up to 155. I know losing 40 lbs is a big job but I would like to do it as quick as possible and obviously keep it off permanently.

Any tips, suggestions, etc? What works for you? Thanks in advance

drink loads of water (at least 2-3 litres)
    no alcohol
    good sleep
stick to three main meals a day with a snack in between. look online for meal plan ideas. for example, breakfast have scrambled eggs with spinach, lunch can be salmon with steamed broccoli and asparagus (never boil your vegetables. it will lose all the nutrients. either steam them or grill them) and for dinner maybe a stirfry with chicken and veggies
snacks can be some cheese or an egg or yoghurt
if you wanna eat carbs eat things like quinoa, sweet potato or brown rice. i'm trying to lose weight at the moment and i dont really eat carbs at the moment tbh
you need to do a lot of cardio. running, jogging, swimming etc. 40 minutes a day, 5 days a week. if you can do high intensity interval training then do that
lift weights a couple times a week too

Just change your lifestyle, workout a lot lifting weights and running/cardio a lot. drink water a lot and stop drinking calories, eat grilled stuff and steamed veggies. If you have not been doing these things you'll lose the weight so easy.

Try eating a fresh grapefruit, it is an appetite killer. It's also very cleansing.

Stay away from soft drinks, sweets, and other junk foods. Try to mostly drink water with your meals. Eat lots of fruits and vegetables.

I've found jumping rope to be a good exercise for burning calories, but make sure you do it properly. I've also found burpees to be a very good workout.

Be careful with how much grapefruit you eat per day given it contains high amounts of estrogen, which can effect woman with PCOS/menstrual issues.

I agree with ava.. it should be pretty easy if you aren't doing these things already. You just have to stick with it and turn it into a whole new lifestyle. Any quick fix diet is just going to be temporary and it won't really help you keep any weight off. Cut out heavy foods like pasta and bread because those are what really add on inches in the waist. Like other people said drink a lot of water. Everytime I add more water to my diet my stomach seems to be flatter. I also wear a waist trainer sometimes and I feel like it helps me a little bit on top of everything else I do.. but not everyone agrees with wearing them. Pretty much eat a diet that consists of fish, chicken, veggies fruit, some dairy, and LOTS of water. Don't drink anything else (definitely no soda or alcohol.. and juice is full of sugar so none of that). If you really want to drink something else get those water flavor things to add to your water (I love them!). No junk food or fast food obviously. And add weight training to your exercise routine (it really is the best way to burn off calories and tone your body.. cardio alone isn't enough and doesn't have as good results).

Be patient and your weight will drop

Being active and busy helps you lose weight. Get up early every morning and start your day with some fresh lemon water, it cleanses out your body and the lemon is great for burning fat. Then do an hour of cardio, the best thing is just running on a treadmill. Exercising first thing in the morning on an empty stomach burns calories and gets you off to a great start. Always eat breakfast, and make sure you eat a healthy, fiber and protein rich breakfast every morning. It will keep you full for most of the day and give you energy to burn. They say its best to eat a big breakfast and keep the rest of your meals small throughout the day. Cut out refined carbs such as white bread and sugary foods. Eat more protein and fiber and be sure to include fresh fruits and vegetables in your diet everyday. Especially if you want to lose stomach fat, it is very important to have a healthy diet. Be sure to do cardio everyday in addition to eating healthy, that is the best way to lose fat. To get your body looking more toned, you might want to include light weight lifting in your exercise regime, or do cardio kickboxing. You could also look into laser body tightening treatments (such as venus freeze).

everyone has given great advice so far, but i would also add start cooking your own healthy meals. learn how to make your own bone broth ( not the stuff they sell in the stores) and eat fermented stuff like sauerkraut ( the real stuff in the refrigerated section with the live cultures), plain low fat keifer and yogurt with live cultures, kimchi, etc. all of those food help heal and restore balance to your gut. health starts in the gut!! if that's out of whack your entire system will be too. eat good fats like avocado, nuts, salmon, etc they actually help you lose weight if eaten in moderation. try to eat as fresh and raw as you can, preservatives are no bueno.
before each meal dilute a teaspoon or 2 of apple cider vinegar ( with the mother) in water and add some lemon or honey. drink it through a straw so it wont hurt your teeth. its good for your stomach and helps curb appetite.
cardio never really did shit for me except make me skinny fat, but weights really tone you up and help raise your metabolism and keep that weight off.
dont look at the scale for affirmation that you are losing weight, look at the way your clothing fits and the increased energy you have.

I've said before on this site that the easiest weight loss is just putting veggies in as HALF your food.
That way, you aren't changing major habits. Eat what you normally do ( even take out ) but boil or steam veggies to fill half your plate ! I WILL work and it's very very easy . You can buy broccoli and baby carrots for example and only have your hands on the food under a minute to prep it.
If you are eating on the run , get a little lunch box and carry some food with you most days so it's done in advance / no need to get hungry and make bad choices just out of lack of planning.

Second all of this! Having muscle mass helps you burn more calories even at rest, which will help you lose excess fat. Everybody's body is different, but like simone, cardio does nothing for me while weights make me look thin and firm. Don't let the fear of getting bulky keep you away from weights -- remember, even men have to take steroids to get big.

    Good luck!

Weight loss comes down to two things: diet and exercise. I'm a little bit of an exercise nut, but, I like to run, bike and swim. Even when I'm not training for some event, I like to train. So, I do one of those three six days out of every week. I look at it like this swimming for ten minutes is roughly equal to running for twenty minutes or biking for forty. Eat a good breakfast. Have a salad for lunch and have a reasonable meal for dinner. Cut out the deserts. Run, bike or swim until it hurts, then do a recovery day (less distance or time and change the workout). The day after your recovery, run, bike or swim a little farther/longer. Aim for losing one pound per week.

You have a goal, that's good. Now get a plan and execute it.

I agree with the ladies here.

Sticking to a diet and not slipping, as well as cardio at least 5 times per week are the most important factors when it comes to weight loss.

I'm thinking of trying the HCG diet for a month. Expensive but I've heard it works. I could let you know how it works. Weight Watchers is decent. And pilates and any kind of lotte Burke is good for tightening or barre method.

Congrats on the weight loss so far! My advice purely for weight loss:

    1. Count calories. Count calories in EVERYTHING you eat, and round up. Try to limit your intake to no more than 1400 per day. Do this for diligently 6 days, and cheat your heart out on the 7th. This is sort of a pain in the ass way to do it and can get tedious, but it will work. If you burn more than you take in, you WILL lose weight. You have to burn about 3500 more calories than you take in to lose a pound. So on a 1400 calorie diet you should lose 1-2 pounds a week.

    2. Run. I would avoid weight lifting at first because it can add bulk and slow weight loss, which can be discouraging. I would run as much as you can. Outside, not on a treadmill. Try to run 2-3 miles a day. Do that and count calories, and you will lose the 35 pounds you want in 2-3 months.

    Good luck!

Lol this is so false... 1. You won't 'bulk' and 2. Adding muscle increases your metabolism.. which speeds up weight loss.

Plus the toned body you will get from weights & cardio will look way sexier.

Congrats on the weight loss though OP!

First of all, everyone should tailor their work-out/diet plan to what their body responds to best - different people have better results with different plans. I agree you wouldn't necessarily bulk up with weights (depending on how much you lifted), but to lose 40 pounds fast the best way is through cardio, ideally running, and dieting. I'm not saying to avoid weights completely, but focus at first on cardio to lose weight fast.

Again you are incorrect lol. I don't think you really know about fitness and this misinformation is why there are so many girls who are afraid to touch weights. Also, I lift as heavy as I can and I have never gotten 'bulky' just curvy. Women just don't have the hormones that would make it possible to ever get bulky like men do.

Here's one example of a girl who lost weight from a lot of weights plus cardio plus a healthy diet (She lost 19 pounds in 8 weeks)

(I'm not trying to advertise for Katy Hearn btw I think her plans are way too pricey but this is a good example)
