Dizzy Take a few days to recover after first night?

So I started dancing on NYE. I think I did pretty well for stage only tips but, I didn't go in yesterday or today. My legs are super sore and I'm coming out of having a cold. I do plan on going in tomorrow if my legs feel better or waiting until they reopen Wednesday.

I just don't want to look bad I guess. Starting and then waiting a few days to come back. I'm thinking I shouldn't force myself if I don't want too. Anyone ever take a day or 2 to recover after your very first shift? Any issues with management due to this? I'm at a no schedule club btw.

It's common to be sore after doing something for a long period of time (hours) if you've never really done it before. Anytime I go to the gym for the first time in months I'm super sore the next day. Dancing is a great work out on the legs so make sense as to why you're sore. Sometimes you even work muscles you don't normally use.

They are just so super sore! I can barely walk. I guess since I was able to work, taking few days off to recover won't raise any red flags. I should be getting a gym membership soon so hopefully it won't last.

If it is a no schedule club they won't care.

I basically couldn't walk for the week or two after my first shift. Try to do some light stretching in front of Netflix, have some coconut water or a banana (electrolytes), and take a couple of ibuprofen to help lower the inflammation in your body. Take an Epsom salt bath if that's your thing.

Congratulations on your first shift!! Try to set a date for your second shift. Sometimes it's harder to get your butt into the club for the second time than it was for the first (since it feels like more of a commitment, maybe?).

If you're concerned about management perception, text or call that you're too sore to work but will be coming in again on X date. Strippers are notoriously flaky and non-communicative (for various reasons), so this would probably take management by surprise (unless you work in a strict club).

Thanks Charlie61. I've been taking Excedrin and it's helped a lot. I can finally stand without struggling. I am setting my return date for Wednesday and plan to work the whole week.

I've also been doing mini massages on my thighs and beginner split stretches to work out the kinks. Next time I'll take Excedrin before my shift.

Oooooh, gurl....I don't know if you should plan on working the whole week! You're going for consistency and longevity, not insta-burnout, right?

Your right. I'm not. How many days do you think is good for a newbie? I didn't do any lap dances my first night so I didn't bank as much as I thought I would. I'm still perfecting my hustle/reading HH.

I've been dancing off and on for nearly a decade, and I'm still working on my hustle too! Be patient with yourself.

If longevity is your goal, and you don't need to make a bunch of money right away, then I'd just aim to start working consistently once or twice a week as your body adjusts. It kind of depends on your personality, energy level, and financial needs. I'm a massive introvert, so working once or twice a week for five hours is plenty for me. But if you're having a blast dancing or simply need the money, then you can start with two shifts a week and move up to three. I wouldn't recommend more than that unless you're digging yourself out of a money pit. That kind of schedule usually leads to burnout pretty quickly. Some women can handle this, but in my experience, women who work 3+ shifts a week tend to not be hustlers, which means they retain more social energy, but also usually means that they need to work more shifts to make what they need to make. Again, be patient with your hustle. I was a freaked-out toad on a log for my first year!

You'll also get a feel along the way of which shifts you prefer, and whether you want to separate your shifts during the week or work back-to-back shifts (e.g. Fri/Sat). Totally depends on your schedule and needs!

Thanks again! I'm currently digging out of a money pit so I'm doing 3 days a week tops. Well....we'll see. I'm trying to do 3 days this week. Today wasn't great BUT I'll be able to go in tomorrow so hopefully that will be better.

I say start with 3 days a week and extend to four as you get used to it.

Every other day is a really good way to start. Gets you 3-4 days a week and gives you a day of rest in between.

The first couple of times you dance, you may find you are quite sore for up to 3-4 days. Don't worry, shouldn't happen anymore after a week and a half or so.
