I could kind of "feel" in my gut that legalization of sex work was on the horizon since the Supreme court upheld same sex marriage, and 4 states plus D.C. legalized weed. Also, Oregon passed the "stripper rights" bill last year, further legitimizing sex workers in this state, anyway.
This is the 1st proposed legalization bill in the US. People are beginning to realize the real victims of the criminalization of sex work are sex workers. For all the efforts to stamp out sex work over the last 10,000 years, we still have thriving sex trade in all corners of the world. Perhaps we are starting to realize that you can't legislate human nature.
I'm for legalization. Criminalization does more harm than good, legalization will at least give buyers and sellers of sex at least a safer way to conduct business. Heck, it may even lose it's appeal to some customers once it becomes legal.
