Default Kratom as an anxiety-pain relief alternative

Hi I was wondering if anyone has used kratom for a substantial amount of time and if there were any long term side effects? I'm on day one of a calculated program and did my research, but was wondering if there was anything people who do it wish they knew when they started? So far, I just know dosage, strains, and that hot chocolate masks the unique taste lol.

I'd never heard of it until I saw this. Looks rather interesting. How long do you plan on taking it?
Let me know if it helps with your anxiety at all. I'm super sick of taking things for anxiety that just make me want to sleep or completely zaps my energy.

^So far, not sedating but also not terribly strong. Like it'd get me through a trip to the BMV but not an arrest?

I've never done Kratom before, but:

Health problems are unlikely unless one is consuming large quantities of kratom every day. In Thailand, where there are some people who use kratom every day, those dependent on it can develop weight loss, dark pigmentation of the face, and have physical withdrawal symptoms if they quit abruptly. The withdrawal symptoms may include muscle aches, irritability, crying, runny nose, diarrhea, and muscle jerking. Health problems are unlikely to occur in occasional kratom users. Like any drug or medicine, people's reactions vary and some people could possibly have an allergic or other unusual reaction to kratom, even if they used it responsibly.

I had a co-worker who has done every drug out there. Including accidentally smoking crack. (lol, yeah I know) Anyway, he basically cured his opium dependency with kratom over a few weeks.

I haven't had it in years. This makes me want to try it again. I do remember it feeling like a clean alcohol buzz. We'd take it with Benadryl. It tastes so nasty. I ended up buying empty gelcaps because I couldn't take the taste and grit. I didn't have anxiety back then and I played around with it for about a year.

I use it and love it. I battle chronic pain from chiari malformation and it makes life so much more bearable. Plus, it's cheaper than my parade of doctors and meds. I use red maeng da (sp?) and I order from mmmspeciosa.

I take Kratom and maeng da is always my first choice. I have been exploring kratom for 5 years, many strains. I developed a liking to it but by no means an addiction. Some days I will take a low dose for its energizing effects, some days I will take more to relax. I have no side effects, never suffered any withdrawl symptoms but that is just my personal experience. Imho it is one of those things that if you like, you will do it, but imho this doesn't equate to an addiction. I would not suck a dick for it if I ran out lol sorry for the bad analogy, but with other drugs, straight men would suck dick for their fix.
In my experience the only negative side effect can be nausea, that is a clear sign you have taken too much. you will likely vomit if this happens but you cannot overdose on it. A slight hangover/headache the next day...to avoid this eat an hour or two before, and drink a lot of water. I did notice that sometimes I get this feeling of air bubbles caught in my throat, I am uncertain why this happens, but I think it is because kratom is not water soluble so I could have air bubbles rising from the tummy.
My only complaint is that it is being sold next to synthetic legal highs...I think it belongs with supplements at gnc, etc...but because of the head change it will never be. It is also very expensive but luckily I have a good source whom gives me whole sale prices. IT TASTES NASTY AND CAPSULES HELP, BUT TAKE STRAIGHT OR BUST OPN CAPSULES FOR A STRONGER EFFECT. TAKE ON ANN EMPTY STOMACH BUT MAKE SURE YOU HAVE A MEAL AT LEAST 1 HOUR BEFORE. I find to cut the taste well, mix in with a fruit smoothie. I make mine with banana yogurt, bananas, and lil splash of vanilla, mix with ice and blend.
The effects are heavenly and this is a wonderful healing plant for mind body and soul that is terribly misunderstood. For me it helps with aches and pains physically and mentally, held me unwind after a long day, enhances sexual pleasure, and sparks creativity. Great for cleaning with lower doses, in higher doses a social but mellow night out. For me perfect because I do not drink alcohol, but at times want to let loose.
I recommend it to anyone with anxiety, depression, pain, or to those who need a head change, mellow out and relax without taking any illegal substances.

Shit, forgot to add that the quality can be inconsistent even if you use the same brand. Do not I repeat do not go with extracts, aka anything that says 5x, 10x, 20x strength. These can be habit forming because they are tampered with by human beings and are extracts of the leaf...not much of a difference in potency, I have tried extracts early on and they are priced higher with minimal differences between extracts and ground leaf. Ground leaf to me has a better effect then extracts as nature made her perfect already. Urban Organix all the way!!! Kratom is unfortunately being watched because it had gained in popularity, being a great alternative to pain pills. It will be banned eventually because the healthcare system is avoided. I have been curious about kava kava lately and not the crap you can find at the grocery store. Anyone ever experiment with kava?
