Default How do you manage both working and housework?

I always seem to get behind on one or the other. I just don't know how you bbs can do it!

Do you have any tips or tricks on how you manage to keep your family fed, all your errands done and keep your place clean while trying to manage the time demands of work too?

Or did you all just order out to eat all the time and I just don't realize it.

Get a crock pot and set something up in it in the morning at least 1 - 2 times per week, and make things ahead of time tat you can pop in the over like lasagna (or buy frozen ones)** if you are on a strict diet yourself you can always feed this to the fam and also deep clean the house once a week. Even if it takes you half the day. That way the other days you are doing light cleaning like the floors, dusting/ counter tops and picking up. Also, if you can do your laundry at home try to do that at the same time you are doing your deep cleaning.

Dude JAC. You need to seriously get out my brain. Because I'm right now trying to perfect that right now. lol. I'm trying to be a better adult because I let my house get cluttered and was making too many excuses.

Since I no longer work morning shifts, I'm making sure I'm out of bed by 10:00, have my coffee and breakfast and unload the dishwasher and load whatever is in the sink in there. I'll also pick up a little and pick one room to clean. I'll be done with everything by 3:00pm. Then until 5:00pm, I use that time to answer emails and other thing behind the scenes work related. Once that's done I'll start getting ready for cam. Just a little rough estimate of my time. But I'm more productive when I have a schedule. I picked up two dry erase calendars so my husband and I can assign each other chores throughout the month. I also attempt to keep day planner so I know any important dates for me and my husband so I'm better prepared and we know how to utilize our time together. Saturdays are our days we get to spend together because with him back in school fulltime, it's been a little chaotic.

Also on Sundays we premake our meal or meal prep for the week.

When I work full time, I try my best to be on between 10-11 pm work til 5-6 am. Wake up the kids, send them off to school, bed by 8, up by 230. Get dressed for the day. Help with homework, cook, do my housework, get them ready for bed by 930 is the goal. Sometimes i get to nap between 830 and 10.

Daily maintenance on housework helps. I do laundry daily, sweep, cook, mop, clean the bathrooms...and then during shark week...I do a once a month total scrub. but its hard to keep it up seven days a week.

The crock pot helps, maybe take out twice a week. Is a whole lot harder when I am in school...on break right now. School and kids make it difficult. Especially the two teenagers. They do not go to sleep as early as they used to.

Since I started camming I have really neglected the housework. I just feel like it'll get done later. I usually end up cleaning the house every Thursday or Saturday or Sunday. My husband doesn't really help out much since he works a manual labor job, however I got him scooping the cat box daily since I do almost everything else.

Try to make it a habit to do little jobs on your way through the house. Going to the bathroom, then on your way out take the laundry to the washer/dryer and start a load. On your way to the kitchen for a snack, pick up and put away things along the way. Put dishes in the sink/dishwasher as soon as you're done with them.

Or you could make a schedule to take a day for chores like laundry on Monday, dusting on Tuesday. Or go by different rooms on different days, Friday clean the living room but Sundays are for bathrooms, whatever.

As for a maid service, sometimes family members, college students or friends looking for extra cash might be willing to help out from time to time. I have some family members come over once or twice a year for a serious deep-cleaning party and pay with food and drinks (wine. lots and lots of wine.)

Though it looks like shark week is the cleanest time for all our houses!

I tried for a while, but I simply lack any motivation to clean until I'm either on my period (at which point I become OCD about cleaning and spend 12hrs straight doing so) or out of coffee mugs. I love to cook, but I don't have a dishwasher, so that kind of fucks up my schedule & I eat out a ton as a result. I think I'm going to buy one of those portable dish washers sometime this month.

My SO does most of it. Lol!

I'm in charge of a few things like laundry, groceries and childcare, but he does the bulk of the cooking and cleaning simply because he's better at it and won't stand for my mediocre standards.

im not a person who can do something in moderation if i drink i will drink to death, if i clean..i just will clean the fridge, 10nhours later im like legally dead and with a back pain.
Also i afraid to be disappointed by a cleaning service.

Most places can give you references, either of businesses or household clients (sometimes you can get a discount by being one). Check business reviews online, ask around. Most are by hour, some are by job.

Just be sure to put away your dildos! I worked for one for a short while, and while we didn't work in the same place we did see each other enough to hear gossip.

JAC I So went through this about a month ago. Im still trying to find a solution. I am crazy clean person so the problem is not how to find time but that I make myself insane working and cleaning and running my household. I tried to get my husband to help but his standard of "clean" was 100 miles from my standard. I got a housekeeper. Its the greatest thing ever. I pay her 30 euro for 3 hours once a week and it has saved my sanity. As a rule I never hire friends or family because in the past that always has gotten messy for me.

My next investment is a robot vacum. I want the iRobot Roomba 980 because its new and I can use my phone to run it (I always want the newest thing) but the price tag is high so I have to save up a bit. I just know this little piece of equipment is going to help me a lot!

oh dont get me started on this subject. I am drowing in housework. I get up, help get kids ready and hubby watches younger kiddos during the daytime while i film videos. I then do camming in the afternoon/evening. I'm exhausted! I have managed to keep the house better this week. Guess what that cost me? $$$. Because if I'm cleaning, I'm not working! It's a constant repeating loop that plays in my head. Can other ladies relate? i just can't seem to win!

I totally decluttered and everything now has a place. I try hover up daily downstairs and upstairs weekly. Little and often seems to work best for me. I have three little ones, but only cam a few hours in the evening, but I'm up a lot of the night with a crying little one. Whenever I leave a room, I try leave it presentable. The bin is my friend!

I am TERRIBLE at keeping house I'm lucky it's just me and the cat here, and I just put a brave face on if I have workmen or other similar visitors. I desperately need to declutter, deep clean, and redecorate literally the whole place. It's filthy and disorganised and hasn't seen a paintbrush in at least 10 years. I'm just glad that I managed to break my lifelong hoarding habit a few years ago, otherwise my place really could have ended up like one of those homes you see on "Hoarders".

I'm terrible at keeping up with the clutter. I'm trying a new thing this year. I have a daily check-list for work and I've added "Do 1 cleaning task" to it. So far it hasn't helped but I've been sick for a whole freaking week so I haven't done shit. I started my checklists up again today though so hopefully the new addition to the list will help!

I don't. I hire a housekeeper who comes bi-weekly and cleans and irons. As for cooking I tend to eat a lot of salad so just a bunch of raw fruit and veg thrown together along with steak grilled quickly on a George Foreman for speed. I wash the dishes I use every day, that way they don't pile up.

But yea I no longer have time to do housework so I put aside a bit each month for that, its really helped me so much

This is pretty much what I try to do. Most of my housework gets done while I'm on a quick break and making a cup of tea - take a load of laundry down to put on as soon as I get into the kitchen, load the dishwasher/do some quick washing up/tidying/sorting while I wait for the kettle to boil and the tea to brew, take clean laundry back up with me when I head back to my office. Its not great for getting the big jobs done, but it keeps the place mostly tidy, and means that it's easy to run the vacuum round/sweep/wash floors/do other "big jobs" at the weekend.

Glad I'm not the only one to struggle with this! My hubby does most of the housework and cooks and does errands bc right now I'm working more than he is. But I'm terrible w sticking to a schedule if it includes anything boring like chores. I will procrastinate and work on editing and whatever I can and then poof there goes my time.
