Default Getting a really dark fake tan with one application? Is it possible?

Hey all. I am a regular user of self-tanners. I am starting out pretty much as pale as it gets, so need 3 applications of a self-tanner to get to a tanned shade.

Usually I will apply it twice in one day, waiting 8 hours in between applications before rinsing off and applying another layer, then once more the next day, so I can build up the color in 2 days rather than 3.

This is very time consuming though, especially since fake tans only last about 3-5 days before they start looking too patchy to still look good. So then it is only a few days until I have to exfoliate off all the self-tanner and start all over again.

The highest DHA I can use without it turning my skin orange is about 10%, any higher and I look like an oompa loompa.

Do professional spray tans come out darker after one use? Is there anywhere I can buy professional spray tan solution and do it myself at home?

I have tried high end self-tanners too in hopes that the tan will come out darker in one use, but it seems I still have to build up the color over the course of 2-3 days to get to the desired shade I want.

There's a really dark foaming one from Sally's I don't have near and don't remember the name of, but I'll post it later when I pick some up.

Which self tanner has 10% DHA?

Even using extra dark self tanners, I have to do 2-3 coats to get the color I want, too.

Heard really great things about this:http://southseasskincare.com/ Not sure about the darkness of it. You can do it in the pro spray (buy the equipment) or buy it in the can. I like that they have trial sizes in the can.

Also, there's a brand, I can't think of now (used to have it @ Ulta, but I looked online & they don't now) It's in a white bottle w/big orange letters, the Hooter's Girls use it.
I think QVC sells it? It's known to be very dark

    Hi, Kaninchen.

The self-tanners that I found with 10% DHA are Norvell and Ocean spray self-tanners, found on Amazon. You can either apply with a gun or do what I do and apply 2 coats with a blending self tanning mitt. It works fine this way for me. Using a tanning gun on myself seems impossible but I get the same effect with a mitt anyway.

Have you ever heard of Tan Towel?? Its a self tanning brand that sells large wipes that you unfold and rub all over your body and face. The wipes have self tanner on them and after you use them on your body, it dries instantly. It doesn't smell at all or leave any residue or stickiness. You rinse off after a few hours and the color is gorgeous. Totally even, no streaks, and it doesn't look orange at all. I am naturally white as a ghost and I used to spray tan, but I hated the smell, the stickiness, and the streaking. Ever since I discovered Tan Towel, I've been hooked and have never gone spray tanning since. You only need one application to get good color, if you want to go darker, you could use the plus version (for a darker tan). Even the darker one wont turn you orange. But to answer your question, a professional spray tan will gradually get darker after your first application because the color is still developing. Once its all developed it looks nice, but then it starts to get patchy and peel.

I use St Tropez and it can get you really tan. They have the normal mousse, the express mousse and the super dark mousse. The dark mousse can definitely get you the darkest but you have to really exfoliate good before putting it on. I prefer the other two though and you can get really dark after like 2 applications.

If you're consistent with the exfoliating and lotioning up everyday then you don't ever need to scrub it all off and start from scratch. It'll fade a little after a few days and you can just reapply and be dark again. Exfoliating and putting lotion on regularly should keep the tan from getting patchy and looking bad.

I second this. St Tropez ROCKS

Same with Fake Bake but it's a few dollars cheaper
