    Default Help! Newbie in NYC

    image.jpegimage.jpegHI everyone,

I'm new to NYC and wanted to try stripping. I used to be an escort but now I'm looking to start stripping until I get on my feet. I'm very small 4'11 106lbs. I'm 24yrs old but can pass for much younger. I'm a pretty girl but I feel like I wouldn't fit in at other black clubs because of my small frame. When I think of the black clubs I think about big tits and big ass. I have no previous dance experience. I'm not the best dancer but I can shake the little ass that I do have well enough. I'm super shy. I'm super nervous. Can u guys please give me tips on what clubs I should start at. I thought about clubs like flashdance or vivid, but then I read that the Manhattan clubs are strict and don't hire a lot of black girls. Where should I go? I'm nervous to dance with other black girls because I know I don't have the ideal look (big butt/titts). Is it okay to bring lingerie to dance in. I'm have $100 left to my name and need to make a move fast. I don't want to spend it buying anything until I make some money. I live in Queens but would prefer dancing in another borough. Please give me some advice on what to expect. I'm a nervous wreck. I know I'll need a drink (or 3) to get me through auditions. Also I would like a club where I can start during day shift just to warm up to the way things work. Also how does the house fees work. Do u have to pay on the audition day? I'm not comfortable posting my face but I posted a few pics of my body just so that you guys could see my size so you guys can tell me if I would be accepted in a more Manhattan club or if I would be okay working in a black club.

I think you would be okay at a black club. But if you go to a white club you need to be as generic as possible. Normal color hair, glamorous but classy make up, classy but sexy outfit, nails and toes neat. If you google "stripperweb nyc" or "stripperweb New York" you'll find a lot of info. I would neve audition after drinking but it's your call. Oh and most clubs I know you don't pay housefees when you audition but you do pay them when you work.

Just because you read that some clubs don't hire black girls, it doesn't mean you shouldn't at least try. Definitely don't drink before an audition though. They are seriously easy peasy and you're risking not getting hired if they can sense that you've had something to drink. They might assume that if you need to drink before a simple one or two song audition, you're going to get sloppy during an 8 hour shift.
At the two NYC clubs I've worked at, I didn't have to pay a house fee my first night.

You would definitely get hired in Manhattan. You are what they are looking for in a black girl; skinny and petite. Do not under any circumstances drink before an audition. Bring a short dress and lingerie. Unless the club allows lingerie or it's lingerie night, you will have a problem. However, you will have more of your bases covered with a short dress- you may have to buy a long one if you get hired depending on the club. The night you audition, if you get hired and you work that same night, you will not have to pay house fee. Be sure you want to do day shift long term because some clubs once you are on days, it's very difficult to get booted up to night shift. There's plenty of urban clubs in your borough but I agree that you probably wouldn't fit in. Good luck!

Thanks for all the feedback. I think I'm going to go ahead and try auditioning at vivid on Tuesday. If I don't make it at vivid then, I'll try pumps bar or peytons playpen next. Wish me luck. I'll update everyone on how things went. And your right. I don't want to be stuck on days shift. But I figured it would be a smoother transition for a new dancer especially since I'm so nervous about it. But I'll take a chance because my goal is to make good money.

Just to update everyone...So I auditioned for Vivid night club and dod not get in. I'm not sure why. In my opinion, I had a better body than a lot of the women and I also looked better. The only thing I can think of was that I was too black, too many tattoos, or lack of dance experience. I'm going to audition for Peyton's tomorrow. Wish me luck!

It's one of the slowest months of the year. Try again in March.

^ I'm assuming she did. I've noticed that every NYC club I've auditioned at, the first thing they ask is if I've ever danced at another club.

Yes. I told them that I've never danced before. I auditioned at sapphire and also got turned down. I'm not sure if I'm doing something wrong. I watched the other girls dance and I did just about the dance. The house mom said "you're a really cute girl come back in 2-3 months because we just hired a bunch of girls and I can tell u now that they won't last." I was a Wednesday so it was very slow. There were at least 18 girls there and only 3 men. It looked like a very slow night. I thought. My sapphire audition went way better than vivid. The house mom told me to give her slow and sexy which I did, but at vivid I think o may have done a little too much twerking/ass shaking. I forgot that the Manhattan clubs are looking for something different than the urban clubs. My confidence is down a little dyer getting shot down by both clubs. I'm honk about trying an urban club soon. Any suggestions for urban clubs that's great for new newbies?

Honestly, I'd stick to mixed clubs. The "big booty" urban stereotype is real, and it's hard to be a top earner in those nowadays without some ass augmentation for the most part. Slim, very pretty women with a somewhat curvy frame like yourself can do well in an urban club. However, these girls are usually fantastic on the pole. Try a couple more mixed clubs. I'd hate for you to feel like the "odd girl out" in an urban environment, and get even more discouraged about stripping.

You seem to have a fantastic body. The only tip I have for you is when auditioning in a mixed club the next time is to be sure that your look is impeccable. Stylish hair, makeup, and clothes can really be a make or break.... Especially for a black girl. I know it's hard to be on your A1 game when funds are low, but investing in your look is sooooooo important IMO. Keep trying. You'll def get hired somewhere eventually.

The only thing you did wrong was tell them that you hadn't worked anywhere else. The good Manhattan clubs want you to have some experience dancing before hiring you. If I were you I would go back in a month and say you worked somewhere else (even if you haven't). If you're still not hired afterward then at least you can rule out lack of experience as to why you weren't hired.

Stripping in NYC is what actually drove me to escorting. The big booty, cartoon body in black club quota is REAL!

1.) You don't have to pay the house fee if they let you work after your audition

2.) The first day you work, you don't pay house fee

3.) Most Queens clubs are "you will stay broke unless your a bartender" clubs. You said you don't want to work there anyways. Most Manhattan clubs like the others have stated consists of hiring black women who are very petite and generic in looks. Straight black weave, normal makeup, and be prepared to be the "token black girl." Also, most downtown clubs are gown clubs. Bronx is another word for brothel lmao. Only normal club I can think of in that borough is the key club cabaret. Brooklyn just opened Lust not that long ago. They are trying to turn it into the northern magic city. Big tits, big ass, lightskin or you won't pass...kind of club. Most clubs on Long Island are dives or have absolutely NO revenue or patrons that frequent the place. The few clubs that you could make money at are all close now.

4.) Don't let clubs and management that turn you down make you second guess your appearance and what you bring to the table. The brutally honest truth is that a lot of NYC clubs don't hire "in between" looking black women. Even though the "in between" looking women have the body type that MOST of us have. To get hired in NYC, you can't be the happy medium. You either have to be super skinny (think fashion model), a plus if you're super skinny with HUGE BOOBS, OR super well endowed. Either no ass or lots of it. No tits or lots of it. Regardless of who turns you down or hires you...just remember...YOU THE SHIT! Don't let no one convince you of anything else!

5.) Speaking from personal experience, the position you are in now...you might as well continue to cake up with escorting. Hope I helped.

(Forgot to mention: most NYC black clubs- if you are not a pole assassin, you will go home broke. At NYC white clubs, change your style of dancing. Instead of twerking and aggressively booty shaking like in a black club, make your dancing style more seductive, freely moving your body, and SLOW DOWN, make eye contact and be SENSUAL!)

Thanks for all the feedback. I went to sugar daddies and when I got there the housemom told me there is no audition process which was weird because over the phone I was told to come in an audition. She told me she had to fill out and app and send her a pic of me from my phone and she had to send it to another housemom who would then send it to the manager who makes the decision. Once I did that, they took a Polaroid photo of me attached it to my resume and told me to bring it to the manager. I did and he was very mean. He just looked at me and said okay the house mom will give you a call. When I went back to the dressing room the other girls said u must not of gotten picked because they would have let u worked the same night. I was so surprised because I looked 10x better than all the girls working (there were a total of 6 because it was a Monday night). Even the other girls were shocked that I didn't get hired. I exchange # with one of dancers she was really nice. She told me to try a place Called Purlieu also which I'm suppose to try Friday. It really doesn't seem like there's that much money in these clubs. This is exhausting. Maybe it isn't meant to be.

go to Peytons they will definitely hire you. It's a mixed club and the clientele and owner loves black girls who look like you. It's clean and very new girl friendly and you can wear lingerie you don't need gowns. They don't let you work same night as audition though you have to come back and work another day. Also their day shift is rough do night shift.

Purlieu is the old perfections. Most of queens is all urban. And you usually pay house fee your first night. As someone who goes between urban and mixed, I would not recommend starting out at an urban club. Sugar daddies didn't hire you because the owner likes latinas and he approves who gets hired. They've gotten pickier since they've turned into a big name club. Good luck

You pretty much summed up what it is like being a black dancer in new york. Good luck on your journey. I understand...I really do.
