Default Does using Geographic blocking sting you?

I was thinking of blocking and wanted to know if this "Geographic blocking will remove you from the sort and searches of non-logged in members. Additionally, any advertising or additional exposure of your profile will also be disabled. If you restrict ANY geographic location (not just your own) - you will not be available in the site search results or similar models for logged out users and members in the restricted area. This will impact the volume of users in your room as less people will be able to find you, and may impact your earning potential. means It will remove me from the searches and advertising in that location or for all areas just for blocking? (I obviously don't want that, but there is this kid I've known that is extremely annoying who has this strange crush.) Did you see a drop in earning or have any difficulties? Thank you for reading..

No. I block my home state and do totally fine. I would rather potentially make slightly less money than be constantly worrying more than I already do about my family, old coworkers, acquaintances, etc. finding out.

Honestly seeing as people can still find your cam if they know ur username or find a link . I decided to remove geoblock last wk and while there hasn't been a huge increase in earnings I noticed the traffic almost immediately, I don't think geoblock is worth the loss in traffic as I am comfortable with the fact I will likely one day be outed by somebody anyways. But that's just me.

Yes, I do think it will remove you for advertisement for all area's/countries like missmercedes said, thats what I have been told directly from sm(no advertisement at all, not showing up in search unless they are logged in and not from your blocked country/area).

I always worked with geoblocking on, I am still doing awesome

In theory that's exactly it...it should remove you from all external advertising.

Affiliates that are following the rules are allowed to take and use anything from the site that they can access without logging in. This means with geo-blocking, they can't use anything from you because they can't see it. Turning on geo-blocking will hurt some models more than others depending on how the affiliates are using your room to push traffic anyways, if at all.

A lot of them still cheat by recording your private shows for "content" and a few other ways, but they have to knock it off if they get caught. In this case, geo-block did nothing.

Internal marketing for SM will ignore you if you have geo-blocking set, but there is a lag time between toggling it on and off. They'll see an eligible model and start working on their packages and not release them for a week or more later, and may not check at the time of release. A model that becomes eligible (turns off geo-block) may not get picked up for a week or more when they get around to picking new ones to start work.

There is one advantage to you though...with it on, every person that comes in your room is a potential spender with (in theory) a valid credit card on file.

Yeah. A couple guys who know me IRL found me on MFC one day and foolishly blurted out personal shit in my public chat, and since then I blocked my state on there. I don't care if it's potentially missing out on tokens (I doubt it...those guys most likely would've just played the "We know each other, so you can hook me up" angle anyway and freeloaded)...I did it to protect myself and for peace of mind. That is more important to me than money. I like feeling like I can work without having to worry that someone is gonna blurt out my real name or something.

On MyFreeCams, if you add a member from your blocked state to your friends list, they CAN get in your room. I did this once with a very nice MFC tipper who's also in my state. As long as he's not on my friends list, he cannot access my room. But as long as I keep him on my friends list, then he can access my room.

Using GeoBlocking will depend on what formula the site your on uses for determining where you & the custies are.

If the site uses billing zip codes from the credit card, then it will block anyone, even if they're traveling around the world you'll be blocked from them.

If the site is using URLs, then of course if a guy in your blocked area travels to another unblocked area, then you would appear to him.

I don't know which version of blocking each cam site uses. Does anyone know?

Across the board, in theory, GeoBlocking will block you from being used in advertising the site you're on. The Streamate model contract says that SM is not responsible for what is out there on the interwebz about you. GeoBlocking is one example. As Katy said, if you're switching it on & off, your off time may be when your vid stream is picked up by the advertising department to be loaded onto the affiliate feeds (those pop-up 'Live' feeds like on youPorn, RedTube, etc.) So even though you change to GeoBlocked, your advertising vid is already out and being used on the affiliate sites.
