    Default apartment and employer verification

Hello, I am applying for an apartment this week and i do not have good credit but I make more than enough to afford this apartment and need a new place to live with good internet. Has anyone applied for an apartment with bad credit and for employment verification number what would you give? Thank You.

Its been suggested to offer 3 months rent if you have bad credit. For employment say you're an independent contractor or self-employed. If they specifically ask what kind of work or what kind of job you can say online sales, customer service, marketing, etc. There are also few threads on this, can't link them at moment as I'm on a mobile device.

If you're self-employed, you either need to provide tax returns for proof of employment OR pay stubs. Most places won't take print offs of ACH deposits from companies, regular or not, so now is a good time to temporarily switch to checks from sites you work if you need to move in the next few months. Most places require two pay stubs minimum for rentals.

I just went through this. I didn't really do much work till May/September 2015... so my tax return makes my income look like garbage... I didn't consider this and applied at one place and didn't get approved... went back and called a few apartment complexes and asked what I could use for income verification... found one that would let me use my payoneer statements because it shows my check deposits. So just call and find one that can work with what you have (tax return, 1099, bank statements, some let you get a letter from a CPA). Use credit karma to check your credit score. Ask the apartments what they accept. Some let you offer an explanation for derogatory credit marks. And you may be able to have someone co-sign if you have a friend or family member with mutual trust and good credit.
