    Default fake job?

I'm sure this has been discussed before but I scrolled down and didn't see anything so.....

It's been awhile since I've rented a room from someone I didn't know beforehand. I try to avoid doing it but will probably have to in the near future. I would rather whoever I rent from to not know I dance because I have had a bad experience in the past but I'm drawing a blank on what to tell them I do that is cash only (in case they want pay stubs)

I considered telling them I bartend/waitress but what would I say if they said they wanted to come to the bar and drink and what not?

Perhaps I'm over thinking this but if anyone had any good, convincing fake job ideas I would really appreciate it. Thank you.

I have always said I'm independently contracted with (insert clubs actual company name). For example, at hustler it was Dv2,another club actually went as Country Club,Inc (to avoid wives questions about their husbands charges lol) I have yet to have anybody actually ask what I do lol. And have rented 3 different houses/apartments within 4 years

    That's a good one

Thanks for responding. I've been stressing about this because of the bullshit I've had to deal with in the past from people assuming I'm on drugs and going to be sexually inappropriate with everyone they bring over and a guy thinking its okay to ask me if I will have sex for rent with his wife and kid in the house (both of these situations really happened)

I'm no longer single and will be renting a room as a couple but I still want to take precautions because I don't think me having a husband will stop some of these people lol

I'm trying to save us the trouble of having to move again a month later because someone gets ignorant or creepy.

You can buy paystubs online for $5.00, not really recommending you do this but am "making this statement for novelty purposes."

You could say you do something like driving for Uber. I've used "eBay merchant" for years because I do sometimes buy and sell stuff on eBay and know enough about it to sound legit. Whatever it is you say you do, be sure you know a decent amount about what you claim to be doing for a living.

Babysitter/nanny might work. It's also possible that your husband's income would be sufficient for them and you could claim to be a stay-at-home wife, this depends on how expensive the place is and how competitive your rental market is.

If you rent from a professional company instead of a homeowner, they will definitely not be hitting you up at a bar or restaurant.

Ugh why would you want to live with people who are "assuming I'm on drugs and going to be sexually inappropriate with everyone they bring over and a guy thinking its okay to ask me if I will have sex for rent with his wife and kid in the house." Fuck them anyways if you're a stripper or not a stripper! No close minded people and perverts. I was in the same dilemma you were in very recently. I was afraid of what to tell my future landlord that I'm a stripper, but it ended up working out fine. I basically did what JcMarch said. I rent from a professional company and they didn't ask many questions. All they wanted was for me to prove that I can pay the rent. Tell them that you're an independent contractor, so you don't get pay stubs, and show your tax documents and bank statements to prove you can pay the rent. You can tell them anything if you want, you're a book keeper, accountant, image consultant, sales management, whatever. As long as you pay the rent on time and are a respectful room-mate/tenant, your business is your business.

Why not just say no I prefer you not come to the bar where I work. If you feel compelled to give a reason just say I like to keep business and leisure separate.

You could say you're getting money from your ex-husband for alimony
    You own a consignment business
    You are a tutor
You own a mobile hair salon, mobile car wash, etc.

Or you could say you work in a neighboring town that takes at least 45 min to get to. So its still reasonable as some people really do commute to work this far. But only someone stalking you would be dumb enough to drive this far just to see what you're really up to.

Also, there's a website CareerExcuse.com, where you can pay them to give fake job references for you. It's very legit and I've heard people having good experiences with it. So if you cant figure something out, it could be a good last resort.

I'm not specifically seeking out a close minded roommate those are just situations I've dealt with in the past from people who acted like they had no issue with my job when I moved in, I'm just trying to save myself a headache. Trust me, i wish this wasn't an issue.
The renting from a company thing is a good idea. I will google some in my area.

Thank you for the ideas. There are some really good ones in here. I know someone coming to the bar I say I'm working I a very slim chance but I'm just preparing myself for every possible scenerio.

I just browsed through that site. So awesome. I wonder how I've never heard of it before.
